  1. That's my point. They didn't prove it or there would have been a guilty verdict. All it took to free the defendant was reasonable doubt, and the jury obviously had that. Sums it all up right here. You need to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. It doesn't matter if you "feel" like she's guilty. And showing the mother partying a week after the child's disappearance is not proof. It barely even qualifies as circumstantial evidence. 2. Actually mama black bears are not quite as viciously-protective of their cubs as many people believe. If he had walked out onto the porch, most likely thing by far would be that mama and cubs would run away fast. That is a great video, by the way! 3. This is (and always has been) a very popular saying in society. Yet I almost never hear any citizen of a democratic republic argue that we should give up the practice of choosing governmental officials by means of citizens exercising their right to participate and vote in a popular election. Which begs the question: if the task of lawmaking and policy governance should not be performed by officials chosen by popular elections in a political process, then WHO, INSTEAD, SHOULD GOVERN - AND HOW SHOULD THOSE GOVERNING ATTAIN THEIR OFFICE? Strange woman standing in a pond distributin' swords in a farcical aquatic ceremony. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  4. Maybe the Monsanto Corporation could make a genetically modified kudzu-Jesus that would be resistant to Roundup. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  5. Glad I wasn't the only one. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  6. Bukowski's pub near the Auditorium stop (green line) has an amazing selection of craft & imported beer. If you want great barbecue AND craft beer go to Red Bones in Davis Square in Cambridge. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  7. 1) The world loves a working man 2) Don't trust Whitey 3) See a doctor and get rid of it. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  8. Yep. And gay pride parades cause hurricanes. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  9. I think it's kind of silly that the main focus of the article is on what the confession will do for Oprah's ratings. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  10. There are probably plenty of pro athletes in those sports who are gay, but we don't know one way or the other about their private life because it doesn't show up in the sporting activity. How can you tell someone is gay in a sport? Is there a gay way to throw a football? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  11. How the hell does that work? A human makes a decision to ignore God's commands. OK. Then by what means does that internal decision cause other animals in the area to start craving sex with their same gender? Edited to add: That would mean there was no homosexual activity going on among animals in the millions of years before humans showed up. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  12. Sin affected all of creation. Nothing exists currently "just as God made" it. So animals can sin? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  13. You seem to believe that homosexual inclinations arrived because of mankind's sinfulness and their choice to turn away from God. Then how can you explain the fact that homosexuality also exists among animals? They don't make moral choices, they are just as God made them. And yet some of them are homosexual. 14. But there aren't 'straight' rodeos. They're Just called 'rodeos.' Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  15. I don't think Coreece was making a PA there. I think he was just saying he doesn't care whom other people fuck. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  16. I just don't see how one's personal sex life should affect the activities involved in sporting events. Women's sport leagues might be explained by physiological differences between men and women, but gay vs straight shouldn't matter. It would be like having a seperate gay stamp collecting or homebrewing club. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  17. From my perspective, it was not a choice at all. When I entered puberty, I developed very strong sexual feelings for girls, but not for boys. I did not choose to be straight for intellectual or moral reasons. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  18. Hmm, good points there. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  19. But we don't have gay football or basketball or baseball leagues, so why rodeos? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  20. I saw a King of the Hill episode about a gay rodeo, and then found out there are a bunch of them. Why? I understand gay dance clubs, because of the romantic implications of partner dancing, but why rodeos? When you watch a rodeo, or any other sport event, who cares about the contestant's private life? 21. When Ron Paul held his Tea Party protests, a bunch of 9/11 conspiracy theorists joined in. Later on you had the Sarah Palin crowd adopting the tea party. So it was different factions joining in.http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0410/35988.html Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

  23. The Tea Party doesn't know what ii wants to be. It started out as a Libertarian movement, then other people with different ideologies and agendas adopted it. The movement was also joined by conspiracy theorists, and people who were just incoherently angry. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
  24. I've been coming to similar conclusions about politicians and political parties in general. People join one or the other of the "teams" and then get all worked up bitching about the other side, but when you step back, is there really that much difference? Or are we just fighting over whether we should have ketchup or mustard on what is really the same shit sandwich. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
