Yes, I suppose it goes in both directions. And this is the problem with the political scene today: people are falsely shoved into two pigeonholes, and all sorts of false assumptions are then made about what they believe. That's why political arguments never seem to get anywhere, we're all talking right past each other. You never get a chance to defend your beliefs when you are too busy arguing with someone who has incorrect ideas about what you believe. You get attacked for holding beliefs that aren't even yours. OK, just did a little reading on this. Some sources say that the ethnicity questions are stripped from the job application, and are just used to assess the company's overall recruiting demographics. AQ are Sunni Muslim extremists. They believe that Shiites (such as the Iranian govt) are not true Muslims at all. In fact, AQ has targeted Shiites in its attacks many times. @sivaganesha: There's pretty good evidence tha Awlaki was a serious threat. Just because his last couple of attmpted attacks were foiled doesn'tt mean he was harmless. And as for the 10 years without an attack on the USA: during those ten years there were many attempted attacks on the US, but they were stopped in time. They served an arrest warrant - taped to a Hellfire missile. I don't have a problem with that. I've always advocated getting rid of this scum by whatever means posible. I'm just waiting for those who supported the Democrats and specifically Obama, Kerry and the like who claimed the terrorists should be treated as criminals, read their Constitutional Rights on the battlefield and brought to trial in the U.S. with full American rights of citizenship. These same people also opposed Military Tribunals. The silence is deafening. Who said that? Kerry kept saying we need to "kill Al Quaeda members." I thought we all were on the same page with this issue. Of course, the current administration could have taken the previous administration's strategy by invading a totally different country. Vermont got hit pretty bad. I had no idea that a hurricane could destroy a road just like an earthquake. Some of the towns up there in the mountains have only a few roads going into them, and are now cut off from automobile traffic until the roads get repaired. From my somewhat removed and distant (but interested) perspective, the above is exactly what I have been witnessing in this forum for many years. The one side would rather see America fail when the other side is in power, than to do anything to help America succeed. . The thing is, I am not sure who would have made a better president, McCain or Obama. But I feel a lot more sure that if McCain had won, the economy would be doing pretty much the same thing it's doing now. So it makes you wonder about the value of all the partisan BS. Both posts underscore the point. Maybe we should switch to a zero-party system. Instead of belonging to a team, each person would choose their positions on each topic a la carte. Probably won't happen, but it would be nice if politicians would concentrate on working FOR the country instead of AGAINST the other team.
