Bat bites are extremely rare, and when they do happen it is nearly always because someone tried to pick up a wounded bat with their bare hand. I made no attempt to debunk every false or dumb statement he made - I didn't have all night to respond. Technically, a gun is not a rifle. A "gun" has a smooth bore, like a shotgun, while a "rifle" has grooves cut into it to make a bullet spin. The USMC made this very clear to me in boot camp. Woe be to he who called his M-14 a "gun"... Scratching the bites would temporarily relieve the itch, but it would also damage the skin, causing your body to release MORE inflammatory cytokines at that spot, causing the area to itch MORE. So I have restrained myself from scratching. When it starts to itch, I pour cold water on it instead of scratching. Mammals are not the intended target for North American chiggers. They are meant to target reptiles and birds. Problem for the chigger is if they attach to a mammal, they trigger itching. That causes the mammal to scratch, which usually dislodges the chigger and kills it. In Asia there are chiggers which ARE meant to target mammals. No, I looked it up. They do not burrow down into your skin, The larvae just sit on the suerface and chew a feeding tube in your skin. They get scraped off or washed off, but the released enzymes trigger itching & inflammation for days or longer. OK, I have a PC that had a virus. I got rid of the virus, but something got deleted as well that is causing problems. It has Windows XP Media, and I could correct the problem by updating the OS. To do that I'd have to go up to Windows Vista, then update again to Windows 7. But I have also been thinking about switching to Mac. I want to get into video blogging, is Mac better for that? I did have firewalls and anti-virus software, and I did keep it updated, but I still got viruses, and hopefully that won't be as much of a problem with Macs. Also, I heard Macs are good for video.
