Listen, I am a television news producer. Jessica is a journalist. There are, like you said, others who work in "news" here on DZ.Com. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having "mambers of the press" among us. In fact, when the head instructor from my dz was critically injured in a landing accident, another TV station inaccurately and inappropriately reported the story. I, however, produced a news story that was factual and informative. Our newsroom received e-mails and phone calls from the local skydiving community praising our fair and respectful coverage of a horrible accident that really impacted skydivers here. Please don't paint all people who work in journalism with the same brush. Most of us do everything we can to be truthful and accurate in the way we deliver news.

Impossible to name one song as a favorite. I'd have to say that the Beatles would be at the top of my list of favorite bands, though.

Tipping is -- like someone else said -- outta control! I'll tip 15% for a good meal, 10% for an average meal, and less for poor service, lousy food, etc. If a child was delivering my newspaper, I'd tip the kid at Christmas. The rare time I've been in a taxi, I've left after giving the driver a small tip. Food delivery people (pizza, Chinese, etc) get a small tip if the meal is delivered hot in a timely fashion.

No, it doesn't hurt ... a bit of a dull ache, maybe, but nothing an ice pak or some tylenol won't mend. There is no difference in performance or attitude after you get "snipped" ... just much less chance of impregnating your partner! And one of the earlier posts mention counselling ... what a bunch of crap! Counselling for a very minor little operation??? Somebody's trying to make a fast $$$

My kids have been coming to the dz with me off and on since they were 6 and 8 ... most of the people there are great with them. The rest of the people are really good with them. Would it be different that getting hurt anywhere else when your kids are around? If you are not comfortable with them there, then don't take them!

Regulations ae put in place to stop people from harming/killing themselves and others. You can't do much to a canopy pilot who is dead. You have to have a system in place to PREVENT canopy pilots from getting themselves in trouble.

Stealing ANYTHING is just plain wrong. I hope the prick who took the rig in question is caught and punished appropriately.

I think that most people who "watch" are the ones who don't "do"... as for watching auto racing ... no thanks. If I watchany sport on tv, it's hockey. GO CANUCKS!!!

***climate change.nothing new there ... climate change has been happening for a longggg time. While I think it horrific how fast humans are poisoning the environment, I don't believe in man-made "global warming". The engines that drive this planet's weather are poorly understood. Conditions in our region of the galaxy... variations in the Earth's "wobble" during orbit ... interactions with passing stars -- all play a role in the long term climatic condition of this planet.

Quade, your question is too vague ... waayyyyy to many variables. I see experienced skydivers smoking. I've always been taught THAT is an unsafe practice... If you want to generate a discussion, please be more specific.

Water, and sometimes someone makes a Subway run ... I avoid the McDonalds stuff that some people eat, though. Sometimes a couple of the student (as in college of university) skydivers will spend time in the kitchen at the DZ, making and selling various sandwichs and salads...
