  1. It was the "you must be kidding" comment, not any advice you gave. It's comments like that that push some people to jump canopies they are not ready for. Perhaps a class in STFU would serve YOU well..... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  2. One I saw that I liked: Cutaway - Problem Reserve - Solution As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  3. Make X number of jumps per year and receive X number of free jumps the following year. For a jump to count towards the total it has to be a fun jump, not a working jump. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  4. My home DZ used to but they ended it about 6 years ago. No biggie - we have a Frequent Faller program that's even better! As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  5. Good luck. I had a. Sabre 190 as my first canopy. I tried it all - even got an oversized slider from PD - my last jump on it it broke 9 lines on the left side, tore an attachment point off the bottom skin, and ripped 2 cells on the left side. I still have it rolled up in my closet. I just couldn't in good conscious repair it and sell it to someone else. I loved the flight characteristics of the Sabre 1, but the brutal openings just weren't worth it for me. YMMV.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  6. I came out and told them after my tandem that I had done it, loved and and was going to get my license. My mom hated it (and still does). Dad thought it was cool - until his first visit to the dropzone coincided with my first cutaway. He told me later that all he saw was my wadded up parachute spinning down behind a distant treeline, and he never saw me under reserve. He doesnt discourage me but he hasnt been back since.... 7. I get not letting folks grab your harness etc on a normal RW jump, but what about hybrids? Every hybrid I have been on someone is hanging from chest and/or legstraps...... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  8. Damn dude, give it a rest. I don't necessarily agree with everything some people say about jumping cameras with less than 200 jumps, BUT there is hard evidence that for a lot of folks its a major distraction. As it stands now there is no BSR, just a recommendation .... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  9. Noone is selling used Vigils because they are within 4 or less years of timing out like they did with Cypres. I have been looking at the classifieds AAD board for months now and have yet to see any used anything for sale other than Argus... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  10. NWFlyer - I never said or implied that the RSL was a good substitute for an AAD. I no longer have an AAD because my Cypres timed out on my last repack and had to be removed. Vigil has pretty much killed the used AAD market since they have a 20 year lifespan, and I dont have $1200 laying around to buy a new one (unfortunately). My reason for hooking the RSL back up is silly - I would rather have some safety backup than none (even though they serve very different functions for very different scenarios. I realize an RSL will not help in a potential Cypres fire type scenario and vice versa). Of course, the RSL will still be detached on CRW jumps... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  11. The main reason mine is disconnected is I do a lot of altitude pulls and CRW. However, now that I no longer have an AAD I am probably going to start hooking it up for freefall jumps. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  12. It was covered in my AFF, dont know about other DZs.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  13. Maybe just the camera angle but it sure looks like she is looking down at the ground instead of out at the horizon when she is coming in to land. She also tries to collapse her reserve slider... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  14. By the Lutz comparisom I was pointing out the lack of personal responsibilty, including his failure to initiate EPs, and the interview where he blames everyone and everything for his own stupidity... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  15. Lat time I jumped an R44 we had 2 on one skid, one on the other. Gave a count and all dropped off together. The pilot did warn us no jumping up (uh no shit) and no pushing off as that could rotate the chopper laterally and possibly cause a jumper to be struck by the rotor (and other issues). 16. Scott Lutz anyone? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  17. Several years ago a friend had a floating reserve handle during a headdown, reserve launched and ripped in half at the cell next to the center so he had 4 cells on one side and 2 on the other halfway inflated and spinning him. He launched his main and landed under a downplane, breaking his femur... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  18. I think if you have ANY proof that he did that intentionally then you should file a police report at the least, including an official complaint to the FAA, who will hopefully pull his ticket. Considering that he has been planning the divorce for some time I would consider this as Assault (best case) or Attempted Murder (worst case). What a piece of shit this guy is...he deserves to be in jail - scratch that. He deserves much worse! As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  19. I try to do at least one altitude hop and pop every time I am at the DZ - the view is amazing, its a great way To really learn your canopy and its really a blast when you get a buddy or 4 and play follow the leader or do some CRW
  20. Surely there was no tandem jump from 2500'? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  21. Fear. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  22. My only advice is to not get a Sabre 190 or a Sabre 210 - they are notorious for opening HARD. My last jump on my Sabre 190 it opened so hard it broke 9 lines (including tearing off the bottom skin attachment point on a couple) and damaged a couple of cells. I have my opinions on your wingloading as well, but I will leave that to the folks who know a lot more than I do
  23. To 5. Samadhi - My Safire opens in about 400 feet, so if I pull at 2K I am saddled out by 1500. Yes, thats low, but IMO its better than a freefall/canopy collision. And I am not advocating anyone pull any lower than they are comfortable, just stating what I would do (and have done on occasion). I had a near miss a while back where a jumper went past me in FF as my canopy was inflating (I think about 40 feet away maybe closer, maybe further but I could see the look on his face so it was too damn close). As for my decision altitude, its pretty much when the canopy inflates if I am that low - anything other than a couple of line twists is going to be gone pretty damn quickly. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  24. Most people I see these days pull at 3500 or thereabouts - would it not be a bit safer to track farther and take it lower if you are not sure about your air being clear? I have no problem pulling at 2K, and can be pretty darn certain everyone else on the dive will have deployed by then - on the other hand I am not certain I could maintain my speed and heading while barrel rolling (although I have never tried it to see). And if you did barrel roll and happen to see someone above you, arent you just going to have to suck it down anyways? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  25. I like the Neuman tackified receiver gloves for summer jumping and casual CRW. For winter I have a pair of wind-proof gloves I picked up at a local sporting goods store. I very rarely jump without gloves. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
