  1. Jump #86 reads Fucking Sabre tried to kill me! Deployed at 1800', immediately spinning on my back. Chop, massive linetwists on reserve. Stand up landing in middle of bean field. Main had 9 broken lines on left side - buy new parachute ASAP and adjust pull altitude UP! I still have that POS with all the broken lines. It resides in my closet and is not likely to ever see air time again.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  2. Paralysis or death. Death would suck but paralysis would suck worse. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  3. Dave, would you agree that comfort on a solo would be a good reason for not wearing a jumpsuit? Here in the South it get upwards of 100 degrees easy this time of year - I almost always wear a jumpsuit for the drag when jumping RW but doing a solo this time of year I will often wear just shorts and a teeshirt to enjoy the reduced temps at altitude. Your shirt coming untucked and covering your handles is the biggest concern I can think of (less likely on a belly jump than freefly BTW but still can happen on belly). Other than that maybe some roadrash if you are not proficient at landing... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  4. About 30 minutes. Had just bought a new (to me) rig, got it assembled and a reserve repack and got on the next load 10 minutes later. About 20 minutes after that had my first malfunction.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  5. First was jump 52 on a Sabre 190 on the sunset load. On opening I had 4 complete linetwists in the center of the lines with the slider stuck above the twists. Canopy was flying perfectly straight, but directly away from the DZ on an already long spot (I had a 12 way exit in front of me and they took a while to set up). I tried to kick them out, but every time I would get about halfway around and get snapped right back to where I started. About 2800' I decided to chop it as I was losing light quickly and wanted at least a chance to make it back to the DZ under reserve. Put one hand on each handle (no RSL), arched and pulled right then pulled left, and barely made the edge of the DZ :) As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  6. I am the same- I HATE heights. Weird that they dont bother me when i am doing hop-n-pops or CRW.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  7. Depends on the DZ. I did my first Heli jump with a lowly A license and about 33 jumps. Be careful! Heli jumps will spoil you and might make you want to BASE jump! Dead air exits are the shit! Makes you feel like your first few jumps all over again... And the main reason I hear most DZOs want a minimum of a B license is because they normally don't go very high (hop and pop) and it is a "dead air" exit, which is super cool but takes a bit of getting used to. Essentially you don't have enough airspeed when you exit to control your body, so crazy weird things can happen to the unexperienced... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  8. With an RSL and a spinning malfunction you may not have a choice. My second cutaway was spinning on my back under half a Sabre, and my RSL fired my reserve before I could flip belly to earth. In my case it worked out okay once I got all the linetwists out... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  9. HALO jumps are done from about 30K - people wear their altimeters on those and they work just fine... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  10. None when I got my A. Things may have changed since then, I am sure someone will chime in with the correct answer for todays rules.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  11. Not ideal, but I always wanted to jump an ATR, although I am sure they are not approved for open or removed door flight, and climbing out that tiny rear door would almost require an acrobat... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  12. I got mine from them in 2007 and it was $85 (although you didnt ask me) As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  13. The Dark Backward - people either love it or hate it! Marty Malt (Judd Nelson) is a garbage man who moonlights as a (really awful) stand-up comic. Audiences hate his act but his disgusting best friend and fellow garbage man Gus (Bill Paxton) keeps assuring him he's great and that the crowds love him. One day an arm starts growing out of Marty's back and Gus, who plays the accordian during Marty's act, convinces him to work it into their routine. They get a talent agent (sleazy Wayne Newton) and a succession of bookings follow. The whole things plays out as a coal-black parable about the foibles of decency in an oportunistic world. 14. Congrats! Curious as to why you didnt just apply for your B though.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  15. Actually the only reason I mentioned the distance question is that it threw me for a loop - I knew the answer to every other damn question on the thing without even studying, and then after the test I had to get someone to show me WHERE in the SIM that particular answer was at as I couldn't find it! Really pissed me off. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  16. I didn't give her any answers As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  17. Its pretty easy if you have read the SIM. Just make sure you know cloud clearance requirements and how far from the dropzone a jump plane can drop jumpers - every other question on there is pretty much common sense. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  18. When I had my Sabre I called PD for a new slider after some brutal openings (mine had the original slider on it). I believe the dimensions were 29" x 31". This was for a Sabre 190 with the dual brake lines. All you need to do is call PD and ask them, thats what I did... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  19. I jump at Mike's dropzone so I am very much aware that it is currently non-GM. I am genuinely curious if you still believe your interpretation of the BSRs is correct (meaning Mike and Jan are wrong in their interpretation)? And if so then what you have to refute their interpretation? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  20. Mike and Jan are both long time BOD members, and they are BOTH saying you are wrong in your interpretation of the BSRs. Perhaps you should admit that you are wrong in this case.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  21. So now having seen the entire sequence, it is clear that the guy intentionally deployed (hand on hackey in pic 1). Is there any reason for a jumper in his position to deploy like that on a big(ish) way? Surely it wasn't to key the breakoff was it? I thought it was a person in the center that would deploy to key the break as they would be visible to everyone (although I have never done bigger than a 14 way so I could very well be wrong about that). Thoughts? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  22. I don't think it would take any of the fun away from the sport if it was 100% safe, but it might take away some of the mystique. Also if it was 100% safe I bet wuffos would still not get it (or try it).... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  23. I think you forgot to attach the picture. I would like to see it... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  24. The DZ in Ber'Sheva Israel has some great ocean/desert views but I am not sure they fly during the week. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  25. Not long distance, but I have done it a few times when my motorcycle was my only option of getting to the DZ (about an hour and a half one way) - I stuffed my hackey all the way up in the BOC, put a bungee cord around the poptop and main flap, tied the legstraps together with a pullup cord and wore it like a backpack. Despite the precautions, I KNEW it was a stupid idea and I was a nervous wreck the entire ride. I would not do that again without a gear bag to put the whole rig in. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
