  1. "Mulder said she has a special relationship with the military, particularly the U.S. Army. She's taken a ride in a KC 131, a U.S. Air Force refueling plane, and has visited various military recruitment centers." "Special relationship"... sounds like a cheesy plot for better poll numbers to me... civilians, esp whuffo ones are funny. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  2. Could you post a screen shot of the exact error... there are a couple of things that can be tripping you up. Most likely a trip here: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto will result in a quick fix for your problem. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  3. My thoughts exactly... I was under the impression that it was not necesary to be able to stall your canopy in order for you to be able to pilot and land it safely. The only canopy I have ever stalled was a Nav 280 that was VERY lightly loaded. I really did not enjoy the resulting ~6 foot drop to the ground. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

The funniest answer I have seen to date for the "Why do you jump out of perfectly good airplanes?" question has to be, "Because the door was open?!!" I saw it on a t-shirt somewhere... other than a few of my coworkers, no one really knows I skydive. However I did put up a Skydive Arizona brochure on the bulletin board with my business card attached to see if I could get anyone to go out and at least do a tandem. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  5. Even the most mediocre computer user will be able to look up how to defeat a BIOS password and clear the CMOS with ease. An OS-level password is MUCH more effective at keeping people off of a computer and requires a bit more skill to defeat... and often cannot be defeated at all if even the most rudimentary steps are taken to secure the OS, i.e. not use default usernames, clear last username, and enforcing of password complexity requirements and ageing. If you wanna be really anal you can use the BIOS to restrict the computer to boot off of the hard drive only without searching removeable media for a bootsector, then pwd protect it... THEN rename the administrator account and give it a "strong" password and disable/delete all the other accounts... you now have a moderately "hardened" computer. Cheers NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  6. your computer is completely fux0r'd... that is my professional opinion BIOS passwords are kinda lame IMHO since they can usually be cleared by closing a jumper on the motherboard or some other equally simple process... tell him to cut down on the g0atsex NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  7. First, reboot your computer just in case... Open up Control Panel and click on "User Accounts"... a screen similar to the image below should appear. Disable/Create user accounts and password protect them as necessary. If you want to get rid of the "Welcome" screen click on the "Change the way users log on and off" button. The wizards are rather self-explanitory. If nothing happens when you click on user accounts I would suggest de-spywaring/virus scanning your computer first and then hit "Windows Update" to get recent patches. If you are Windows 2000 savy you can use the "Computer Management" console to create/disable/pwd protect acccounts by right-clicking "My Computer" and selecting "Manage" and then navigating to the "Local Users and Groups" section. Good luck... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  8. NBC IS rather left-slanted, as are most of the major networks and news channels... with the exception of FOX. I think NBC was just trying to generate buzz for ratings, which equal revenue, more than it being some left-wing conspiracy thingy though. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  9. I am NOT an adrenaline junkie, however I do enjoy sports that are challenging and require discipline, concentration, coordination, etc... Actually I am pretty terrified of heights so I really don't get a "rush" from jumping, it is more of a personal gratification thing, kinda like motorcycle racing. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  10. w00t, voted... for Golf though... j/k NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  11. Deming!!? That was a low-blow... I have found that the only people who think New Mexico is "nice" or "interesting" are the people that were born here. Other than the weather, the south has little to offer. "Getting out" in my case generally involves leaving the state to go somewhere interesting like Arizona or California NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  12. I have thought about that before, probably pretty slim like you said... Considering even WITH training people do dumb things like pull the cutaway handle instead of the throw the PC as evidenced here: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=1004 I would say slim/none even with a working Cypres due to entanglement and/or flying a partial mal into the ground without trying to fix it. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  13. The answer to that question is yes, sadly. I saw a rather "round" woman not able/willing to pick her legs up below the knee last weekend on landing, I didn't see the impact though since a bunch of people stood up in front of me to watch the inevitable face-plant. Wasn't there a thread a while ago regarding suggesting minimum physical requirements for tandems? Anyway, if you can't lift your own legs, you probably shouldn't be jumping out of planes, tandem or otherwise... just my n00bish $0.02. Although with the obesity rate climbing at a steady rate, maybe someone at RWS should work on a special tandem harness for fatties. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  14. I had a similar discussion with a wingsuit instructor at Eloy (damn if I can remember his name now) and he was recommending at least 200 jumps with an emphasis on currency and tracking skills above the actual jump numbers themselves. This makes more sense to me than just saying "500" without caveating it at all. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  15. I live in New Mexico... there is nothing here to see... just keep driving... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  16. lol, I had my head up my ass and landed a Nav 220 loaded at ~.92 downwind... it was actually pretty fun gently sliding across the wet grass NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  17. I would have at least done a "victory jump" since I was already up there... why waste the trip to altitude? NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  18. 0:9: If it counts as a first... first tip-toe perfect landing without having to run/surf it out. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  19. wanna move to New Mexico... we are looking at expanding to a few more developers soon. You will need to be: Able to obtain a gov't security clearance Polygraphed Drug free Skills we need: Coldfusion Oracle DBAs Java SQL, etc, etc... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
