  1. It all depends of your torso size. The best thing you can do is to have somebody measure you according to Sunpath measuring guide and send your measurements together with the serial # of the rig to Sunpath. The should be able to give you the best advice... "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  2. I'm not sure why they think that would be in improvement over a handle attached to the base of the PC. The idea behind attaching it at the base of the PC is that by the time the PC is in the airstream, the pin has been pulled and the container is open. At this point, the last thing you want to do is hang on to your PC, so mounting it at the base makes it very tough to hang onto the thing. I'm sure that if you drop them an e-mail, Stefan or Jupp will answer your questions. The only reason I could think of why this pull out is set this way is to keep it as close as possible to the throw out as a feeling. By the time you get the pin out, the PC will be already half way out....then again, the best answer will come from Paratec. The real pull out might be problematic for someone with short hands or a cameraman with big wings. If you hold on to your PC on a throw out system, the chance that your container will be open as well is close to 100% , so I don't see the problem here. But I might be wrong that the chance is that big. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  3. Most, but not all pull outs are set this way. Please check Next manual page 25 picture 38. http://www.paratec.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2010-02-24-NEXT-Sport-Owners-manual-issue-02-2010_email.pdf "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen

  6. It's called a "guiding tone". Disable it and you will end up with single 3rd beep as well. RTFM
  7. Thanks for the clarification Mark. Just a few thoughts. I think that the current speeds are high enough. In fact I think that in many cases they are beyond survivable. 36fps is faster than the fastest men on earth can run. I don't get the idea of test method 2. What are the folks at PIA trying to do?! Find a way to certify a 55 sq.ft reserve? "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi Michael, In the past, Airtec did all those tests for the manufacturers for free. This is no longer the case. However their testing procedures were the same as the PIA TS-112. I wonder why

  10. I don't know if you are aware, but in order to give a CYPRES approval to a container manufacturer ,Airtec test every model at least 36 times. That makes at least 36 'loops cleanly cut' .... http://www.pia.com/piapubs/TSDocuments/TS-112.pdf And don't forget to add another 80 000 + Cypres 1 units to the equation
  11. It's a total malfunction. You know that Skyhook had nothing to add to the speed of the deployment, so why did you mentioned it?! "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  12. I agree with you that Wings has a solid pin cover flap. However, after watching the video for the second time I saw that the pin cover flap is closed in the plane, but it's open when the guy goes to "sit", which makes the scenario described by Dave, very much possible. I haven't seen many Wings pin cover flaps being open on the ground after the jump. A long loop would definitely "help" though. A guy brought his rig for a repack some months ago. While I lifted the rig from the box, the Dbag fell off. I could close that rig with my fingers only. Without a pull up cord. The loop was 8 cm too long. The guy said that he had about 30 jumps with this loop length The scary thing is that when we have a rig like that for I+R, we shorten the loop and we talk with the jumper. And then during the next I+R we find the loop being lengthen again. Some people listen, some don't.....I guess we could use this video as a example of "what could possibly goes wrong" "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  13. People will crucified me for this, but you might be interested in how the canopy reacts on line twists. After all, when the shit hit the fan, you might be 1000 ft above the ground with 5 twist. Just be aware that if you do something as stupid as packing your parachute with line twists, you might end up using your reserve. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  14. Skyhook and magnets About 80 % of the jumpers buying Skyhook have no idea how it works. The only thing they know is that you can chop at 100ft. Good luck with that
  15. The length will be different for different sizes PC. It shouldn't be shorter than the PC inners ! Take care. P.S. I'm also waiting for John's respond. Maybe they have "one size fits all", bag retainer lines. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  16. I would be surprised if more than 5 % of the jumpers would answer half of the questions
  17. I don't know the rules in Israel, but it could be that the main canopy airworthiness approval is mandatory. No approval = unairworthy canopy. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  18. Have you checked the manufacturer recommendations for the Nitro? http://www.hiperusa.com/files/wingloading.pdf The first category is 50-100 jumps experience. So it's not "someone at both DZ's", it's the manufacturer "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  19. I think he asked about SOLO 1 audible altimeter
  20. I agree with everything you've said above. I'm aware of the fact that this can happen. The only way you can be sure is to turn off-on your CYPRES before every jump, and still there's a chance that the cutter might break during the mid air impact. With all that said, I've tested some cutters which were cracked to the same stage, and it still takes some effort to break the cables. I'm not saying that it's OK to pack it like this. NOT AT ALL. Cutter like this should be replaced ASAP. "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  21. You are telling me the SN of the unit. The unit and the cutter have different serial numbers. It doesn't matter. If the unit is from 03/08 the cutter is more likely from 03/08 as well or a bit older. Airtec changed the length of the ....( I don't even know how they call it ) the black cracked piece, to address this problem. That happened in 2009 if my memory is correct. It really sucks to open your rig and see the cutter broken, but remember, if you can turn the unit on, the cutter would work. Regardless of the damage. Contact Airtec and they will help you out. 22. It look like the old style cutter. What is the DOM of the cutter? "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
  23. My favorite one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU1tHOgdVag Just for the record.... that's not me P.S. This one is not bad neither http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yttmFw4_JOM "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
