  1. I have never liked this law as implimented Now the Obama admin has expanded it http://www.justice.gov/criminal/afmls/pubs/pdf/strategicplan.pdf It's not just Obama who has expanded this bullshit. It is each and every administration since the enactment of the law in 1970. It is law enforcement ran amok and no restraint insight. 2. Well, considering that Federal Forfeiture was enacted under a Republican Administration in 1970 (Nixon) as part of RICO, I would think that your side would be applauding. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  3. Not so. Trains run on electricity. All freight and passenger trains are electric. Some by means of diesel generators, others by overhead cat lines or third rail. The first electric train was built in 1837. Siemens produced one in 1879. Elmer Sperry, the founder of the company I work for (Sperry Rail Service), formed the Sperry Electric Mining Machine Company and manufactured a small electric locomotive in 1892. Mr. Sperry patented and built the first electric car. He invented a car battery that could take a car for more than 100 miles on a single charge. When it came to proficient use of electricity, Elmer Sperry was the master. The use of electricity in movable items, such as cars and trains, is long pass the stage of infancy. We have only failed to carry on the great vision of those, such as Sperry, who envisioned a world ran on renewable energy. The attachment is SRS 134, a diesel electric rail flaw detector car sitting under cat lines in Atlanta GA, 1988. Sperry has since, mostly, phased out the rail-bound cars for use and we mostly use Hi-Rail trucks to test rail. The large rail cars were more efficient, fuel wise, than the trucks we now use. 4. My guess would be a profit driven healthcare system. All of those who are for a non-regulated free market should not complain when the price of services go up. If rising cost is a concern, then stand up for regulations. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  5. I'm at the Best Western, here in Dubuque, until Thursday. Afterward, I'll be in Danbury, CT for 10 weeks. I would like to get my reserve repacked before leaving here. My rig is a Vector V344. The reserve is a Tempo 170. If there is a rigger in town, please contact me @ 417-522-8800 and I'll happily toss some business your way. Thanks. 6. That's what I thought. Last weekend I found a ten dollar bill in a parking lot in Minot ND. Not quite $1770.00, but I never sneeze at free cash. Hell, I pick up every penny I see. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  7. Wouldn't you rather have a Harley? As to the question, don't give a fuck if the wannabe bikers have finally sold their no mileage, trailer bikes for the latest fad. Going on 47 years of riding, come March. Never been a fad for me, but a way of life. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  8. Back in 1988 I tied up my rail test car in the old Illinois Central Railroad yard in Mobile, AL. for the weekend. Needing some cash for the weekend, I took a walk to the cash machine a couple of miles away. As I was strolling along, I noticed a green, Velcro wallet, with a pot leaf screen printed on it, in the gutter. It was partially buried in the muck and appeared to have been there for awhile. I walked on passed it for about 100 yards. I began thinking that there may be a few dollars in it. I turned and walked back to where the wallet laid in the gutter. I picked it up and peeled back the top to see if anything was in it. To my surprised there was a one hundred dollar bill and a number of other bills behind it. I quickly put it in my pocket, muck and all, and returned to my rail car. Upon returning, I announced to the other two onboard that I found a hundred dollars and chump change. When I opened the wallet and removed the bills there were 17 one hundred dollar bills, one fifty dollar bill, one twenty dollar bill, and no ID. Did I keep it? Hell yes. I never did make to the ATM. Oh well. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  9. Agree. The majority of the members seem to be for the .15 fee to promote their product. Those who are not for the promotion should leave the association. Although, they would most likely benefit from the promotion that they do not want to support. Funny how democracy works for those who oppose it. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  10. That .15 cents per tree WILL get passed down to the buyer I guarantee it which makes it a tax in my book. I could care less about the .15 cents its just big brother telling us we have to do something else that they should stay out of. The government is not imposing anything. The National Christmas Tree Association are the one who is collecting the .15 cent fee from it's members. It was the members of the association that agreed to the fee. Uncle Sam collects nothing from this fee. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. ***It might be a FEE but if they have anything to do with it, might as well call it a TAX! [url] How so? It is a fee paid by the grower, not the person buying the tree. Anyways, I have to go to my office and do a bit of work today. Love the office. I always have the coolest views and I keep the railroads safe to boot. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. It is so goddam obvious that many on this board do not have the ability to research and seek out the facts. The supposed "tax" is not a tax, but a fee that the growers themselves would pay, not the consumer. The National Christmas Tree Association and their members have agreed upon this themselves, not the White House. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/tree_farmers_blast_sinister_smear_of_obamas_christmas_tree_tax.php Where the growers 0.15 cent fee per tree will go (remember, the growers imposed this fee on themselves): http://www.smithharroff.com/cs_ncta.htm "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 13. I understood that Missouri was the 'meth center' of the U.S.!? Chuck Yup, but, from what I understand, MoMeth is nowhere the quality of TexMeth. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  14. It's the high quality meth and minimum wage jobs. Tends to give them Texans big heads. Helps to keep them big hats on in big winds. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  15. Detective warned that Laffer was a danger and that his legal guns should be taken from him. This nut sack was one big red flag flapping in the wind. Just an example that not all permit holders are upstanding citizens. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/09/23/medford-pharmacy-shooter-david-laffer-speaks-oh-no-look-what-i-did-now/ "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 16. More clean diesel automobiles, less crime!!!!!!!!! Damn good chance that clean diesel is responsible for less crime. Or it may be that more cheap t-shirt sales at Walmart is responsible. My money is on the clean diesel. http://dealer-communications.com/news/u-s-clean-diesel-automobile-sales-are-up-37-over-2010/ "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 17. Alcohol is a drug. It is the most widely abused legal drug in the U.S.. It is one of the most, if not the most, dangerous drugs used. It is responsible for: * most drug related death * job loss * on the job accidents * job related time loss * domestic violence * an array of crime across the board * a host of preventable illnesses * child abuse * broken homes * divorce * the list goes on and on... Alcohol kills more people than all of the illegal drugs combined. However, people who use alcohol, daily or very seldom, refuse to call it a drug. They do not want to equate themselves with "drug users" by acknowledging that the beer in their hand is, in fact, a drug. These people are just plain ignorant to the fact that they are playing with fire. Call it what it is. It is a drug and nothing else. By saying that you have never taken any drugs and hardly ever drink, you are only lying to yourself. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 18. Around 4:35 p.m., police had the suspect in custody. It's unclear how they apprehended the man, but tear gas was shot into the residence and police also released dogs into the home. My nephew just called me and gave me the details. This dirtbag got in an argument with his wife. His sister tried to intervene and he shot her in the head. The guy left and went to his townhouse where the standoff occurred. The guy would not come out, so they fired about 18 canisters of CS into the place. After he still refused, they bust the door in and Ryan unleashed Diesel. Diesel went in and Ryan went to follow and was stopped by the KC S.W.A.T.. He is pissed off. Told them that was his partner in there. Pushed them out of his way and went in and slammed the fucker to the ground. Diesel accidentally closed a door behind himself as he was searching for the killer. My nephew fucking ROCKS! The Lenexa K9 vehicle in the video is Ryan's. BTW, Ryan has done one tandem jump. Bram Clemens was his TM. I keep trying to get him to do another, but says it scary. Second pic, Ryan is the guy in uniform. http://www.nbcactionnews.com/dpp/news/region_kansas/kck/police-on-the-scene-of-hostage-situation-in-kck "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 19. Conservatives are a bit confusing. When people don''t want to pay for their healthcare, they scream about it. When someone tells the people that they will have to pay for their own healthcare and this is it, conservatives scream about it. It would be nice if you could have 100% control of what we pay for, but we don't. I would like for none of my tax dollars going to another country. Fuck Afghanistan. Fuck Iraq. Fuck Israel. Fuck Saudi Arabia. I would like for none of my tax dollars going to help people in Africa when their are people here in true need. Fuck Africa. I would like for none of my tax dollars going to the oil corporations in the form of subsidies. Fuck big oil. I want none of my tax dollars paying for the healthcare of fuck heads in the Federal government. Fuck the Feds. I can go on, and on about where I do not want my tax dollars going, but I have no choice where it goes. In the matter of healthcare... pay up or have your pay check garnished if you don't have insurance. Pay the full amount of the treatment. "The price if they don't enroll: $50 a month." Most people spend several times more than that at McDonald's or Taco Hell every month. Emanuel's plan, sounds pretty damn good, as well as extremely affordable. 20. I'm so sorry to hear that your sis has passed. Most of us know just how bad it feels when a sibling dies. I've gotten to feel that loss twice. Terri, I know what a great person you are. I've known you for a lot of years. I'm at a loss for words as to why someone would chose to go do tandems, instead of being there for you in your time of need. You're a strong, intelligent woman. You'll come to the right conclusion. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  21. If I were to cut the amount I bring in by, let's say, 50%, and then reduce the amount I spend by, let's say, the same. I would be no better off than I were. But if I were to reduce the amount I spend and increased the amount I brought in, well now, I would be doing great. Cutting down the flow of cash in while reducing the flow of cash out only serves to lengthen the time before you hit the bottom. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  22. Does anyone see that paradox in these scriptures: 1. God ordains governing authorities: a. Jn 19:11 Jesus answered [to Pilate], "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above." b. Rom 13:1-2 Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore, he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. Jesus says to the authority, Pilate, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above." The following scripture: Rom 13:1-2 Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. Pilate is the governing authority. Is he not? My understanding is that he is. It goes on to say: For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Now, if Pilate is the governing authority, and that his authority existed, it must had been established by God as Pilates authority existed. Final: Therefore, he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. Did Jesus resist or not? My understanding is that he did resist Pilates authority. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  23. Then, maybe [?], the severely retarded or autistic should be euthanized. I would hope no one agrees with that. If, by chance, it becomes possible to transplant a human brain or characteristics into any given animal, would you call that animal human? Brings the H.G. Wells novel, 'The Island of Dr. Moreau' and Prendick's struggle to comprehend to mind. I cannot agree that a human is defined only by a healthy mind (presuming that is what you mean.) Does ones DNA change when the mind is wiped of their past? No, it does not. There is more to use than just knowing our past and present. If the mind is not yet completely dead, they are still here. I can agree with this, up to a point. If my mind is dead, pull the plug. However, for me, Alzheimer does not fit the criteria. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  24. How awful that any person would wish to leave a loved one simply because the persons mind has gone blank. They are still a human. Would you sever ties with a parent, brother, or sister if their mind was washed of memory? I would hope not. I would hope that love and compassion is above all else and that a person would remain with a sick loved one until the end. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  25. I am only assuming that your belief is aligned with Pascal's Wager. In other words, it is better to believe (whether a person actually believe) than to face the consequence of not believing (providing that there is a consequence.) To tell a person that they better start believing, or they will burn in Hell for eternity, is to assume that a person has complete control over belief. That is called doxastic voluntarism. In other other words, we have the ability to just go from no belief to total belief on a whim. We do not have control over believing or not believing like we have control over turning a light on or off. An atheist can no more just flip a switch and believe in a god as a true believer cannot just flip a switch and stop believing. No one can simply be commanded to believe in anything. Nor can a person just command them self to believe. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
