  1. I was refering to the door being in operation and the Student not having a parachute on. But that would probably be subject to interpretation. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. There was a Temporary DZ at Camden TN this past weekend. To find out the schedule I would call the Paris TN DZO he ran the show out there. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. I was out of town when this started and missed all the previous posts that already made this point, including the LEGAL point of the implied FAR violation. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. I saw it and I still cringe over it, Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. I have taken a 80+ year old Grandmother, My mom, and My mother in law and none of them had any real issues. I just had to plan on ther age as a factor (slower positioning in the door hearing , etc.), as Tom said I was far more nervouse for them. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 10. as a rider/racer for 20 years I too am shaking my head. Here is my plan for my little F4-i each year. Daily check the fluids, tires, chain and all body wotk fasteners (at least before each ride). Mothly or every 100 miles (wich ever is first) check the clutch cable, brake sytems (you have 2 on a motorcycle) and all inside the body work fasteners (all the nuts and bolts you can see once body is off). It is also a good time to do a real detailed cleaning, after all you do have the plastic out of the way. I replace the oil and filter every 6 months or 3000 miles which ever comes first. Tires I replace every 24 months, they dry rot and pick little sharp things in the tread that are real hard to see some times, having hat both front and rear flats on the track and the street I have learned this lesson PAINFULLY! $230 is fairly standard for a full servicing. $200 is what tires on ZX/R's-CBR/R's-GSXR's run for front and $250-ish for the rear, but the long stay and high price of an ER visit and dual occupancy hospital room as a lot more $ than I have. I use a synthetic oil (Golden Spectro) and it seams to make the bike run better and last longer. For just street cruising buy a harder compound tire that is R or Z rated, the harder compound will last a bit longer and some tend to not dry rot as much as they are designed for the long haul. The ZX is a great ride, I had a ZX-7RR when they first came out and ran it for 3 years beforing selling it for two 600's (FZR and CBR). With some good maintenance you can run that bike for 100,000 miles and 10 years all with out any maintenace related desasters. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 11. I think you'll find most of us T-I's have had some form of celebrity of Vip as a "Student". I also think you'll find most T-I's treat them all the same and give there best effort. I think the poster that said he is a proffesional, entertainer and gives his best on all his tandems is conveying the best attittude over all. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 13. TheTandems weights you already have. The Relative Workshop used to have a modification that allowed the Vector 2 Tandem Constainer to be converted so it could be used for aff. I saw a 280 lbs AFF FJC Student do a AFF leval 1 with this conversion. I can not say if it was under or above the RWS weight limit. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 14. Our Student program is a hybred of Tandems, Static lines and the occasional AFF (when an AFF-I is available). Our students get a class on spotting once on freefall and begin spotting with supervision about the 8th jump. Since all our students jump for the Army and most go on to Demonstrate we probably are not a typical program. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  18. Chuck, Yeah it is just a terminalogy thing. If we packed side by side I am sure the "Stack-normal" flat pack is the same. Your Dad was who showed me the "roll pack" as a new skydiver at Benning. (I am sending you a 18D who is lookig for some continued training while he is TDY doing a bit of 18 series training) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 19. For weekend play my personnal canopy is a Sabre 135. But a Rage 120 is in the works. For Demo's (my job) a 7 cell Star Trak 2 For the VIP Tandems (part of my job) Sigma 395 For Camera and coach jumps (while on the job) Stiletto 135. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 20. I think the 90 heading issue is froma form of flat packing called a "roll pack". But a "normal" flat pack is just a PRO pack using the floor as an aide for control. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  24. Thank You for your support. I will be heading back for tour 3 in the fall. During tour 1 and 2 I was cheared in the streets by the Iraqi people who had wanted a change, but we the collective world did not listen or help until now. To others in the thread; I will gladly stand on the wall or in the sand and defend the freedoms of all men and women in this country and others, it is your right as a human to be able to live and speak free. But please, as a citizen of any country do not ask me to abandon my comrads who relly on me to cover there back while in our defense!
