  1. Knights move into second solo after 3 rounds! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. Airspeed did beat the Knights but I do not think it waswith out any training jumps. Both teams are at the top of the sport in 4 and 8 way. So this willo be fun to follow. Being a soldier I am am a bit biased on who I am chearing for. I have gotten to jump with memebsr of both teams but my work clothes still say US. Army on the chest.
  3. Ft Bragg? AAC May have the power ask skymonkey1 he may be able to tell ya. Eloy seams to have the numbers to do that also. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. They say 150 trianing jumps but you gotta beleive there is far more to it than that. If Airspeed wins it is by 2 points after 10 rounds. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. My opinion only. Keep i nmind I have only competed in 4 way once. I think that Airspeed and the Golden KNights will end up in the Silver and Bonze spots in 4 way, Fire is just on a roll, so the gold will be theirs to lose. In 8 way I think the Golden knights get gold and Airspeed Silver. Airspeed has so much going on that I think 8 way will suffer a bit for it. But since the Knights train away from the public eye the could pull off the double Gold since thay have a very veteran RW team and some of the old 8-way Gold medalists from events of the past. 6. Thank You for the Help thus far all of you. The info is being used in an MWR (moral Welfare and Recreation) article for the post newspaper. It is also being used to compile a list of DZ's for the IFSO (Instalation Freefall Safety Officer) to keep on hand to refer individuals and units to for military freefall and Skydive training sights for the times they are too busy on post. Thank you again! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  7. Thank You! Demos are a very positive side effect of our sport. But done wrong they can be more negative than 2 or 3 good demos could ever be positive. Getting to know the FAR's, USPA BSR's and your local FSDO is esential if you want t ostart that "positive side effect". Matt I really should re-read so my spelling is correct. Oh well no sense in editing it now. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. The DOD only "Officially" recognizess the Golden Knights and Leap Frogs as "DOD" Sanctioned. The FAA "genrally" accepts all DOD supported Teams as long as they have a history and good reputation along with nive neat paperwork so that they do not have to do to much leg work. The various military teams tend to work in "their territory" and develope a good repore with the local FAA FSDO. These teams have such a good repore that the FSDO will issue another team a 7711-1 and call it the "82nd Airborne Standard waiver" or the "USASOC Standard waiver" or what ever but youe get the idea. On another note; Stadium jumps are the hardest solo landing to make in all skydiving (my opinion) and the standards are there for a reason. Yes a person can do all the demos they would like with out being a part of uspa or even licensed by them. but the FAA would like to know at least 1 other person has seen your skills and can vouch for you. most of the FSDO's do not jump and do not know the difficulty in making that landing on the 50 yard line in Soldier Field during half time. As the Team Leader for the "Screaming Eagles" i made sure I help to education as well as understand the FSDO's I worked with. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 9. It looks like an Airspeed rig from before they went to Jav's. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  10. The man who runs the link siad 9000 is untrue! Walter stated in his letter to all who read his sight, the official count is near 2000, his count is an additional 5000 (based on the submitted names from his suscribers) and that adds to 7000 by his math. He also started that statment buy saying his "helpful" supporters where circulating a false statement about the 9000 name list. He states his numbers are for both Afgahnistan and Iraq. It is also entirley possible that some of the names are submitted but did not actually die in those tro locations. 1 of the names I saw on the list (I read the whole thing today, it is hard to do when you see a friend listed) was actually killed in a car wreck while back here in the states and not on any deployment at all. I will not post his name out of respect for his parents who I know personnally. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  11. Hey All! I need a little help please. I have been asked to compile a DZ list for the TN/KY area of Fort Campbell Kentucky. If you know of or jump at a ligitamate DZ (we have done a web search and have been lead astray by a bunch of fake DZ pages) please send me the info at [email protected] Thank You for the Help! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. That number would nearly be a division sized elemant of the Army. Do you think loosing a whole Division would raise an eye brow or two? I call BS. Maybe by 2009 if we are still in Iraq and "The Stan", we might be to that count. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. Skydive Atlanta in Thonaston is a Strong DZ and I think the only one left using that old design Matt (Just teasing Ya', Iam a Sigma fellow myself though) An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. Same artcile (I think) said the GWOT had refocused the parent company toward its military equipment production business. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. Ahh Yes the "work" jump. He was just keepen' ya on your toes! I have a few of those a month. But I still give them the whole breif as I have from the very begining. It has more to do with my military training and my peice of mind to stay with the same check list and change as little as possible. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  16. I was doing a Demo and had to use my reserve and still landed on the 50 yard line in the TN Titans Stadium, but you didn'y have that option in the pole. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  17. The landing tech. described is the same one the Army Tandem Team uses. I think you can see some video or pics of it at the DZ web page that hosted the Pres birthday bash jumps (but it eludes me right now) An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  18. I demo'd both rigs and went with a Wings myself.
  19. Go with John Rich's suggestion and you won't pay any extra andyou will be just as "patriotic" as if yo uhad the whole 13 stripes and 50 stars put over head. You can get any parachute maker to do that design but would choose a Flight Concepts personnaly since I have seen about 50 red white and blue star traks, sharp chuters and furys from them (plus a few of thier zippy models that way!) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. I guess "offering" is not the right word, allowing is more like it and I have seen 2 Tunnels (along with Ft. Bragg for a tital of 3) use tunnels rigs. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  21. It is the FAA form 7711-2. You can find it on the FAA.gov web sight. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  22. As an S&TA and Military Demonstrator for 10 years I think I may be able to help answer your question. Yes, it is legal if you get the proper FAA authorization. With out it, no. You will need to file a 7711-2 requesting permission to make the jump into a congested area (all urban zones are congested by FAA deffinition). To file the -2 you will need the land owners permission in writing, the proper experience and the jump plane and pilots info, all in paper form for the request. Plus maps and VOR info to the ladning area, for the control tower in the area. Once you get all that the FAA may or may not issue you a 7711-1 the certificate of authorization. It will have very specific provisions you must follow for the jump to avoid legal issues. The info is paraphrased for space but you get the idea. I would say unless this is for a Demo, not to jump off of the DZ, it is a far beter environment and you will be able to handle the "what if's" that can happen since you will be in a place your familiar with. 23. Jen, John Hoover from the Golden Knights recently wrote an article about the differences in skydiving magazine. I too have found I fly a bit different from the tunnel to the actual skydive, and I too believ it is the rig that is the difference. So now many tunnels are offering "tunnel rigs" as a training aide. The body position you discribe may actually be tilting you up to a much steeper body angle, almost like you may be inadvertantly booty flying. In the mantis having your body symmetrical takes a little bit of focus in the biggining but becomes second nature with practice. Try a coach and video it will help, and the next time you go to the tunnel try a tunnel rig and a coach who is talented in the aspect of the sport your focusing on for now. But most of all have fun with all of it! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. The Adren-l one was told to me by the fellow who helps make them. So it look pretty good for Houston to have 2 tunnels! Yeah, it will meen a price war and cheap flights for us frugal flyers! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
