  1. You should have put an option for a GOOD choice. I like Bush over Clinton but think Powell would be the best choice with the Senator from Az and Tommy Franks all in the cabinet Intellegance and balls. Those three would care about the Nation and have "world wide" experience, plus with reps they have there would be little debate when they presented the right thing to do as a world family. 2. A commander who skydives. The same individual was put through his FJC by me. It is my job as the ParachuteTeam Leader and Instalation Freefall Safety Officer, for me this is a training mission. I also have a Team mate training there right now and hope fully we can train togather under the coached jumps. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. Are you suggesting cutting away a good canopy since it openned premature at a high altitude? Or am I just missing some info on why that wouldn't be a good scene for an RSL? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  4. With the right commander it could be FULL TDY like I am doing. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Jumps are free. Coaching is free. Registration is free. Fun is free. Your dime to get there and for what ever comfort you want. I have a team mate in the Burg now going through training. Hope fully we can get some jumps together during the meet. I am 1/4 of a 4-way team and 1/8 of a 8-way team looking forthe other parts once I am there. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 6. AND if your actions doesn't violate the user agreement between mftrs and user (if the mftr has a user agreement). True the FAR's have no age limit. But the FARs do state certified by the mftrs. If annual certification is required to stay certified by the mftrs, wouldn't having the cert revoked then make you not in compliance with the FAR? Then that would be a violation which you could be legally responsible for? Until the legal invironment in the USA changes I do happen to agree with Bill Booth on this one. 7. On the GK web sight it states; Active duty (reserves and Guard not on AT but actually on active duty) all services. Not on leave. Registration form filled out and sent in prior to the meet. AAD. 150 jumps for 4 way, 200 jumps for 8 way. < 150 will get caoching from the Knights (and maybe others on hand) There is Sport Accuracy and Traditional accuracy. The dates are 11 to 13 November. 8. I like Airspeeds chances. I think the new method the whole Airspeed Team is using this time helped the mto stay "up" the whole meet. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  9. Yep. All 21 rigs are fully sponsored, as well as the jump suits, helmets and all.
  10. For me I do entries differently for each type. For Tandem's I log the canopy/container, the Student info (height, weight, Male/Female, and age) Did the student help on landing (I have them do it most of the time trying to keep them intersted in going further in the sport). For Coach jumps I write what the plan was how it went and what I told the student to do next time (it help in the CYA arena). For RW jumps I write the Who what and why it didn't go that way. Actually I write the plan, how well it worked and how much fun it was and with who. For Demo's I try to get a copy of the Stadium/Track layout from the media book and put it in the log book stapled to the page. I also use the log book as my unofficial autograph book, I told Mark McGuire I needed a whitness when I did a jump for the Redbirds/Cardinals game. Said the same thing to Mr. Wallace at a NASCAR race. Occasionally I go back a nd reread the entries. It is a hoot some times! And yeah I do write to much most of the time. 11. I have 24 white canopies on my team. The ywil start to show dirt from your body in about 50 to 75 jumps. Dirt and grass will show up in about 100, unless it is damp dirt the nthe dirt will end upshowing in 1 jump. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. Why can't you buy directly from Strong Enterprises? They list the MC-4 on the web page. To me you shuld be able to buy it even if it is parts and assembly it. It's not like it is top secret or some thin'. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. Well the command is going to send me to ensure the 101st canopies will fly for the first time during this meet. Of course I will be solo (other team mate is being reassigned by the Army) so I will be the guy looking for a slot to fill in 4-way RW and 8-way Speed. See y'all at registration An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. As the Black Hat who ran you at
  15. Reputable, ther are a few in TN. Tulahoma but you'll have to find out the schedule from Beezy. Skydive Paris, Paris, TN. (931)551-6878 it is a 1 and 3/4 to 2 hour drive from Nashville. Those Two I have jumped at and would gladly take friends to. Mike Mullins Place is great but it is about 3.5 hours from Nashville. Hope that helps . An Instructors first concern is student safety. 16. Hey at least he served in some capacity. Some other politicians skipped town and smoked (but didn't inhale) pot. How short was the POTUS on his duties? I could have sworn what I read had him good to go, but I was only reading copies of the Air Guard record released by the DNC. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 17. Why re-class? Far more 11B1/2/3/4 "Papa" positions in the 82nd than not . An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  18. Well maybe the origanal posters question perplexed me then? Sounded to me like he wanted the info prior to going. But I could have mis-understood, wouldn't be the first time. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  19. You answered your "Why are they..." question, they are wearing the harness to take up the suits "slack" which is evedent on some with out the rig on. The other question I guess would depend on how much time in the tunnel you plan on spending. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. Harry's place is still there but he is now in Florida. I believe new management is still getting sorted out in Russellville. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  21. 60 points? Based on age? When did they lower that standards this time? Just six months ago it was 70 points per catergory and all in the 17 to 21 year old catergory at that (but the 22 to 26 year old group is tougher). The Ft. Bening Home page link will give the most upto date info. Airborne School is a different animal. Airborne is a different animal too. You probably know far more as a skydiver than the average Paratrooper when it come to the dynamics of parachuting. The training is not really to tough physically, morning PT isn't to turn you in to a PT stud (or stud-et) but just to keep you from getting fat and lazy. What will get you is the "slinky effect" during the runs and the various PLF training apperati. I taught there for 4 years and put many a skydiver through. I will tell you the same thing I told them; 1. It is only 3 weeks long, go back to skydiving after graduation do not risk an injury from the weekend jumps that do not let make your school jumps and you fail to graduate. 2. After you make your 1st qual jump than you can experement and sit fly jumps 2 to 5, but do not try and present you belly! (if you do you will only do it once!) 3. No matter what your Skydiving Instructor or master rigger said, the guy yelling at you in the BLACK HAT is right (at leas tfor that moment). 4. Keep your feet and knees together, hit, shift, rotate, kick it up and over, activate, recover and move out! ( during the first week "and move out" will be replaced with READYYYYY SLIP! [ you will learn to hate it]) Remember the contaxt of this training also. It is geared toward an Airborne Brigade being delivered to a target DZ (typically an airport) and that is 3500+ Paratroopers being dumped out mass exit at 500' AGl in the dark of night, with out lights. Have you ever done CRW with a round? I have its kind of fun, unless your the one that did the last leap frog rotation. You'll do fine! Have fun and say hey to MSG Warner for Me (he is the Master, Master Trainer for the BN, the one that puts the Black Hats in the front leanen' rest!) An Instructors first concern is student safety. 22. The web page "Skydibe Nashville" is/was an ASC page. There is a REAL DZ that went /goes by Skydive Nashville (located in Russellville, KY). Is may still be rebuilding, if that is the DZ your Friend is going too. And there is Chris Martins Old place that Beezy Shaw now runs. Both DZ's are going through a re-organization process. Beezy is doing well and hopes to keep middle TN skydiving. The Russellville DZ I do not know more on sorry. I would agree with the comment if it is the ASC DZ. Stop payment on the credit card and help your frind find the REAL DZ's nearest to them. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. So, you actually dislike the time frame (or lack there off) for factory maintanence? Not so much the actual VIGIL AAD? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. 1 reason it was Germany. Once the "protection of territory" was legally worked through then Germany didn't object any more. Skydiving ran a good article on the Vigil. We will hear the same baseless complaints when the ARGUS AAD is released to the public. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. I direct this comment to no particular person just the thread topic. I agree the TM is totally responsible. I too have 4 Video Dudes I work with and one thing we all do is debrief each other, either after the jump or at the end of the day, but we do it! For me, since I am an Instrcutor and S&TA for a military team and school it is second nature, but I also look at it as my responsibility as an Instructor who has 3 lives to watch out for on every Tandem with video. Additionally for every one who joins me on a tandem, I have their life too. Lets all learn from the video. The video is a perfect example of people who do not care for others lives and do not take full responsibility for their actions. But lets also let the RWS (as it was a SIGMA) and USPA deal with the punishment. If you aren't comfortable with them do not jump with them. If that is still not enough for us, run for a USPA position and work to fix it. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
