  2. Hi Speed!!, Sounds like fun and mighty tasty!! Back a few cases ago in Ca. I made about 30 gallons (6 sparklets jugs worth) of some tasty apricot wine. A lot of old fart DZ people from Perris and old Elsinore might remember (if they have any brain cells left!!! hehehe) I think it was about Christmas of '80 I gave away bottles of my wine that year. My apricot tree went nuts that year and I thought that was the best way to deal with all the excess fruit!! Gotta do that again!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  4. Hi Cav, Hoo-ya!! for the "High Speed Water Recepticle!!" As for the Mk 79 mod "O" pencil flare, with the early model, one had to make sure it was cocked before you screwed in the cartridge or when it bottomed out on the firing pin you got a big surprise!! They came out with the "A" change after that!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Cav, I was a Navy Rigger circa 1967-70 Ships' company V-6 div. Paraloft on the USS Princeton LPH-5 and the USS Okinawa LPH-3 'Viet Nam cruise '68 and '70. as for the survival kits for issue there were several. None were the James bond type or the one Slim Pickins was going thru in the movie "Dr Strangelove!!" BUT there were condoms!! We called them High Speed Water Recepticles!! They were suppose to be for storing fresh water!! Well what ever floats your boat. AND they could be used for R&R in the Phillipines too- remember 'Po-town?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Tall, In your old B-4 rig if it wasn't scavenged too much, it had a little booklet stashed somewhere on it, title,"Survival uses of the parachute" cool stuff, like how to make nets from the lines, how to make shelters and among other things, take some of the hardware pieces and a strip of webbing and "bingo!!" a blackjack. I have a couple of these books stashed in my archives!! See above posts they make mention too. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Speed, Good ??? Reminds me of when I used to work for Scurvy Irvin, I was "one of the Rigger" and I packed parachutes. (Like the red white and blue one that slows the Space Shuttle down when it lands!! That was one of our projects!!) Some of the floor people resented my job and used to say,"Them damn riggers make too much money and don't ever do no work!"" hahahhah I laughed all the way to the bank!!!!! 8. Hi Ivan, One tradition no one else has mentioned yet (I think?) is,"CASE OF BEER!!!!!!!" for just about anything!! Back in the old daze, the tradition was you owed a case of brew if you dropped your ripcord!! Only way out of that one was if you had a mal then you could toss it so you had both hands free to get your reserve out. With B-4 equipment, you needed both hands and a lot of luck, or something. 9. Hi Sky, Back in the early 70's at Borderlands Airsports Center Otay Ca.(McDonaldland as we called it) we had a Stinson Gullwing Reliant with a 450 hp Pratt on it. 25. Hi Grue, 'Learned to fly airplanes in a 7AC "Airknocker" Champ N2211E 65 hp. Cont. powered. Yup keep pumping the pedals, you'll get used to it. Fortunately with the Champ it's easy to see over the nose. Best thing I did as far as flying goes is learn in the taildragger first!!!! Nose wheel planes then were a breeze!!!!
