Even then, "The Group" still had the corner on "Big ways!!", "anything over 7!!! Then the 10-MAN at Taft busted the lid off and the rest is history!!!! Glad to be part of it!!!! 6. Remember when you had to step on a button on the floor to start the engine and there wasn't a key? ...the windshield wipers ran on vaccum, the faster ya went up a hill the slower the wipers worked. Hi Jimmy, Remember when we had to pull a "Blast Handle!!" (God Forbid) to get the parachute to come out and stop us from smacking the deck at high speed!! 'Thought you would! If'n ya' didn't have one in yer archives, ya' got the one I sent ya'!!!! PS, 'Love my Blast Handle!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  8. Hi jd, Yup, Jonathan is a trip. Sometime after he wrote Jonathan, Richard Bach went "Skydiving!" 'Forget exactly when, it was a few years ago, article ran in "Parachutist" "Jonathan Jumps!" As I recall he went down to Tampa Sky Ranch honchoed by the late "Mac" McCraw. I believe he made a bunch of jumps and even got as far as getting an "SCR!!" Remember the quest for "Perfect Speed!" 9. I think you are seeing things where they don't exist. For most normal U.S. Citizens, the issue is communications. No one is saying you can't speak other languages, but you need to speak English too. It's about everyone in a country being able to communicate and erase divisions. And while the U.S. does not have an official language, it's already been pointed out that to become a naturalized U.S. citizen, you need to be able to speak English well enough to pass the test administered by the department of immigration. http://www.us-immigration.com/blog/check-list-when-applying-for-us-citizenship Even the government understands this. Hi Goose, Funny that you should mention that,"while the U.S. does not have an 'Official' language..." I just wonder, what's the "Official" language of "France?" or "Germany"(Hi Crystal!!) or "Spain" or "England?" for that matter???? Wanna' try "Changing" one of those?? Just to note, back when this country first got started in Congress most of the people spoke English, however, there was a group from Penns' Sylvania (The Penns' Sylvania "Deutsch" not "Dutch" ) who spoke German. So to keep things on an even keel they decided to take a vote on which language they'd use in Congress. Well,....it was decided that they's speak and use "English" as their common language in Congress.....BY ONE VOTE!!!!! Other wise that dude speaking Spanish would be translating to "German!!!!" Funny how things like that go?? Who'd' a' thunk' it!!?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  10. ! Viva Los Skydivers Latinos, VIVA! Perhaps the oldest parachute club, the Latin Skydivers are Celebrating their 50th year Saturday September 17th! ... We'll be there! ...50th annivdersary, a birthday we share...( I started skydiving in 1961). The club is certainly one of the oldest, best-known and respected of any -ever! Hi Pat!!, 'First met the Latins' when I got to CA in '67 at Old Elsinore!! Great bunch to Party and Skydive with over the years!! 'Never forget, I think it was the Stumbles of '75. Me, my then girlfriend Chris, Rod Gegian and Art Tucker were doing a fun jump outa the Howard after our Stumbles jumps of the day. We were under canopy at about a grand and heard the distinct sound of a Beech load whistling thru the air a ways over from us and there Hooting, Hollerin' and popping canopies "At a Grand" was the red, white and Green chutes of you guessed it,"The Latins!!" Having too much fun!! Good Times!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

My wifes' cousin had a whole row of pepper plants growin' last year and at the end of the season he said I could have what was left!!! Ended up with about a half bushel full!! Eatem' raw, pickled a bunch and dried the rest!! Good stuff!! As for the pizza; 'talian sausage, pepperoni, and "Shrooms!!" Onions and green peppers are good too. As for the pineapple and canuk ham, it may be pizza but it ain't "Italian!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  15. Hi John, Funny you should mention that? I ask the same questions too. The imposters "the really into the fake persona" don't hit home till you run up against one in your everyday life. Then you wonder??? If you call them on some aspect of their story, they have a very plausable explanation and one for that and one for the next...... until they dig a hole so deep they bury themselves. It may take a while. Attention to detail and their "time line" will trip them up. They always screw up how they wear the uniform, order of placement of ribbons and insignia for one. Chuck and Mary Shantag have done an exlempary job over the years with the P.O.W. Network and I can only add,"Right On!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  17. Hi F-J, Funny how that goes. Check out Chuck and Mary Shantags'( http://www.pownetwork.org/ ) , their "list" of busted wannabe's is extensive!! Bar room lies over beers are one thing but wearing the uniform and creating the fake persona to go with it are another. They are out there!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  20. "Francine Mc Filthy" by Little David To the tune of "Streets of Larado" There was a young maiden of age fifty-seven. Who drove a blank gore like you've never seen before. She drank and she cussed, and she smelled to high heaven. That's Francine Mc Filthy, the skydiver's whore. We went to a jump meet in Carson, Nevada. The troops were all lined up at the Moonlight Ranch door. But out in the bushes, one went for a quarter. That's Francine Mc Filthy, the skydiver's whore. Old Francine the queen of barnstorming banditos. Would punch out S.O.S. 'till her knuckles were sore. She'd make Pope and Bishop, in seventeen seconds, Then take on nine jumpers, that's skydivers whore. Way back in the old barnstorming days, I flew an old jenny. The struts were all broken, the fabric was tore. And out on the jumpstep, stood Francine Mc Filthy. The pride of Milpitas, that skydiver's whore. Francine was married to old Ernie Perkins; The wedding took place in the back of a store; The troops was all drinkin' and fightin' and yellin', And Ernie got cursed wid' a skydiving whore. Old Francine looked lovely, she smiled at the preacher. A pioneer jumpsuit, the gown that she wore. Behind her sweet back, she gave us the finger. That raunchy old bastard, that skydiver's whore. The marriage was short lived, and so was old Ernie. He crashed through a church roof, and died on the floor. Francine missed the funeral, for a night jump at Chico. So what's more important to a skydiving whore. Then one day it happened, her navy rig failed her. She tracked for Lake Merrit, but just made the shore. She closed bloodshot eyes, and smiled through her AssHole... And that was the end of our skydiving whore. So hang your head low boys and cry in your muscat. The pride of Milpitas is with us no more. And the noise that your hear at twelve-five is not thunder. But the voice of old Francine, our skydiving whore. And now somewhere on that eternal drop zone. Stands one who hollers and beats on the door. Won't you break down and hand out a drink there St. Peter. To Francine Mc Filthy, the skydiver's whore. Hi Jimmy and Howard, Oh the songs!! As long as there are Skydivers there will be songs to sing!! 'Got a copy of "The Parachute Songbook" Dickie and Marilin Webb at the old "Rumbleseat Tavern" at old Elsinore had a few for sale back in '67 or so, 'bought one. Yup Francine was in it. Here some bunch of trips around the sun later I wonder. Somewhere in Central Cal. where the old Diablo and Calistoga Skydivers used to roam, is a lonely old Church Graveyard with two tombstones side by side, for Ernie and Francine Perkins. If you stand at their graveside and listen, that's not the wind you hear but the sound of old cheapo's opening on high and the laughter of old Skydivers who know why the birds sing!! Maybe Little David age 39 1/2 might know where Fran and Ernie r.i.p.??? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi tj, 'Early 70's down at Otay, Moki Martin had one. Wild rde!! 'Sounded like 50 flags in a 50 mph breeze and had a built in right turn that he had to correct every 5 seconds!! Came in for a landing seemed like a greyhound bus with no brakes!! 'Pulled the toggles down but flare?? What flare?, it just kept going till his heels created enough resistances in the trenches he dug to stop him!! Moki didn't jump it much. 'Think Dirty Ed aka "Sled" over at Old Elsinore had one, didn't know much about that one. "Think Stratostar!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  23. Hi JR, First off, what jimmy said. Just shows ta' go ya' when the rubber band breaks it's generally time to leave. Back some years ago at old Elsinore someone I believe it was a Marine Pilot brought out a CH-46 chopper to jump, Green ID required. On one lift the pilot incurred a "Rotor Sync Problem" and informed the JM on the comm for everyone to strap in as he was taking it down. He recieved no reply and when he looked back in the cabin there was noone there and just the headset dangling in back by the ramp! 'Nuf said. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  24. Hi xtr78, Yahoo, ya' had a twist!! 'Doesn't necessarily mean, you were spinning, 'could'a been, the bag did the spinning!! It happens. 25. Hi Krip, Seems like all of em'!! How about the last load taking off after the sun had dropped below the horizon and at a couple of thousand feet or so it's back up!!! Also 'ya might still have some light at alt. or under canopy but when ya' look down at the DZ, it's definitely dark down there!! Sunset loads, after a day of dives, top it off with a hop out the plane, build a round and break it open to a line opening to the west and cruise till pull time watching the sunset.
