  1. Hi Chops, "A long, long time ago in a galaxie far, far away," but as the crow flyz it was only 08MAY1964 and I was 18 yrs. old a month shy of 19. 40-sumtin' yrs of draggin' nylon thru the sky!! 2. Hi Tony, DZ pull alt floor is 3k??? Oh well, take your $$ elsewhere! So I got a Stiletto 190, not a real snivler but it opens 'bout like most canopies I've had. Anybody that has a canopy that takes a couple of grand to open "normally" hmmmmm? Anyway, I'll step off at 2.5K for a hop and pop and my canopy is open about 50' below the A/C, WTF's the big deal?? 'Generally take it to 2K for the toss and if I have a problem I'll be riding my plan B by 1.5K, fine with me. Hell, some years ago when I was an AFF-I with New Deminsions Flite School at Scare-Us-Valley, when we'd get our student under canopy at 4+k, me, the other JM and the cameraman would fly to the middle and toss 3 or 4 points before we'd turn off and dump. (tracking off included!!) So, take it in stride bud, Geeks like that flake are a dime a dozen in this sport.....I'm still lookin' for the guy supplin' the dimes!! PS, speakin of that rack on Cheach, it is Deer season! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  4. Hi Howood, 'Could'a been one they called,"Rolling Thunder!!"................................... One day we tried to roll a 10-way tube at Elsinore back when!!! 3 tubes of 3 side-by-side with one guy in the middle like a cornydog!! I was on the far left side by the door and as the tube went, me and larry walsh got scrapped on the door!! As we were falling I kept kicking my leg to see if it was still there and not left back in the airplane!! luckily no broken bones but one hell of a hematoma 'bout the size of a half a tennis ball on the outside of my left calf!! 'Twas beer-30 for this kid after that!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Al, That's our Don!! Heard that story many times from others as well as Don!! And now he's gone. Gone are the daze of Round Parachutes and Iron Men!! 'Posted a note on the memorial Forum too. Let the "007 Stories Begin!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Sandy, Hell of a note I say, the 23rd you say, the day my Peggy died!! The Reaper has been swinging really hard lately. 'Got to talk to Don the weekend before the last stroke. I would call him from my old fishin' hole down by the South river on Sat or Sun afternoon and we'd yak for a while and I'd get him riled up over some trivial prank we pulled over the years!! 'Tried to get one of the nurses to give a message to someone there to tell Don I called and was prayin' for him. 'Hope the message got thru. I don't know how he got it but Gene Paul Thacker (Ifin' ya' don't know who he is, go look him up in yer Funk and Wagnals) gave me a movie poster from the old "Gypsy Moths" movie Don worked on. I sent it to him as I knew he'd like it!! When he got it he was so excited you'd think I sent him the keys to King Tut's Tomb!! Fun Times, Fun Skydives gonna miss Don but I will always remember the "Good Times" we had!! That Star up ther just got one bigger with "SCR-007" docking on wrists!! None of that grabing grippers light weight stuff!!, 'Gotta do it right!! Fly On Don!!!!!!! 'Ya know the first person he'll probably look up when he gets there is James Dean!!!...Mr. Toofor School in Person. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Dari, Iran Air!! When I worked for Uncle Leroy Grumman in that F-14 IRAN project we usedta' spoof their operation and say,"Iran Air flight 269 from Isfahan to Teheran has been cancled due to mechanical difficulties. If anyone knows anything about how to repair airplanes, please report to the flight desk, Fly Iran Air, we're not the best airline, we're the 'only' airline,.....'The Wings.... Of Death!!!'" 9. About noon on 23NOV2010 my wife Peggy lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. We were at the Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center in Fayetteville NC when she drew her last breath. Not much else to say right now, a week has passed since, finally, the dust has settled enough for me to come here and write. Peggy only made one tandem jump a few years back but she loved it. She loved hanging out at the DZ and partying with everyone! Peggy and I celebrated 10 years of being married on July 3rd then a few weeks later she got the diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Cancer is an equal opportunity destroyer. It doesn't care what age, sex, race, where yo' from or whojoedaddy waz, it will kill you and not stop till it does! When the Sunset Dive is done and the Beer Light comes on, lets all hold one high and tip a glass for Peggy. Blue Skyz Peggy SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  13. Hi dj, With the .45 I don't think the remote would be necessary, maybe an extra clip or two. The .45 is a good choice. In "Rules for a Gun Fight" by Drill Sgt (E-7) Joe Fricks, USA Rule #24. Don't attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than "4" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  14. Hi Dan, 'Twas either Frank or Paul, I seem to recall Frank doing it from an article I read in "Flying" mag from that timeframe. The sign was made of styrofoam squares stacked up and held together between two sheets of paper rigged up between two vertical I-beams. I believe the article said there was 3 feet of clearance on either wing tip!! Frank had enough trouble after the punch as some of the styrofoam squares plugged up the air intake on one engine and the cooling on both engines!! Went thru the Talmantz Museum at Orange County Airport back in '77 or '78, quite a place. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  18. Hi Cal, Ah so whatz' a little "Flutter??!!" Yer Dead Meat that's what sukkah! Sloppy control rigging and linkages are probably the problem then again?? With a VNE of 70mph and flutter at 65 it probably wouldn't be too hard to exceed those limits even if yer trying not to!! Be Careful bud, and just remember that the last thing that goes thru yer mind in an ultralight crash is,"The Engine!!" that last comment spoken by some ultralight geeks out at Scare-us-Valley in the "Old" Bomb Shelter Bar. 23. Hi Ian, Yup, a good day to bump this thread. 'Just thinking about my old Navy daze, the times you want to remember and the ones you can't forget no matter how hard you try. 'Dug into a small chest of momentos, a brass "dog hook' with a "P-38", some coins from far away places, ribbons and a couple of medals and some photos, how young we were then. 24. Hi Pops, I take you were Army?? Or Marines?? In Navy Boot in Sandyeggo 05DEC66-04MAR67 we only got one day at the range at Pendleton with the M-1. Did VietNam Cruise '68 on the USS Princeton LPH-5, V-6 Paraloft. 'Had 5" guns around the ship, whenever they fired one near my shop it knocked loose all the rust in the vent ducts and spewed down into my shop!! You guys shoulda called in the USS New Jersey!! Usedta' watch her punt 16" rounds in-country off Da Nang!! That's Gun action!! Woulda' been fun to have had more firearms training like you said. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi can, Interesting. As for what Americans must do to properly obtain the "right" to own a firearm????? We already have the "Right" it's called the 2nd Amendment and it is located in the Bill of Rights. It says,"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." There are no "required" state/federal runned "classes" on firearms. There are lots of safety, training and marksmanship classes available though. 'Don't know if they still do but when I was in the Boy Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol we had Marksmanship as part of the program. Then again, my dad taught me to shoot with our Stevens single shot, bolt action .22 cal. rifle out past the barn plugging tin cans on a log. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
