  2. toss your PC into clean air and you'll have no problems with a subterminal deployment. if your still reticent, have your PC in your hand and do a 3-7 count before tossing it. good luck. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  3. i fly a X-Fire2 169^2 at 1.6:1. one observation i made is the Atair Cobalt is one of the least owned and flown canopies. must be all that poor flying charachteristics?!?! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  4. NAH! come jump with me! be an anvil!! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  5. my first balloon jump, we got out at 2500 agl, pure adrenaline! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  6. i'm not sure about how much physical damage can be done to the ear, ear canal from sky diving. i've never experienced a problem and have never worn ear plugs. i made my first 300+ jumps with out a helmet, and loved it. then i started doing jumps where i was not comfortable not wearing a helmet, one kick in the head on a 4-way is enough! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  7. your not by yourself on that one! that's the ugliest thing i've ever seen. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  8. i know and feel your pain personally. my "Bear Dog" went to "To The Big Play Ground In The Sky" (about 2 years ago) He was almost 19 years old then. My heart goes out to you, and you and Eddie will be in my thoughts. I bet Eddie and Bear are chasing rabbits right now! Take Care, God Bless. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  9. every time i go to the "Incidents Forum" there's yet another post posted by someone wanting to see if some one else has information about an alledged incident at XYZ DZ. but not having any information themselves. i don't get it, if you don't know anything about an incident, then wait for some one who does know about the incident, if in fact there was an incident to post the facts. the forum is being taken out of context by these types of posters, please cut it out. it drives me wild to see yet another lock hanging off of this type of post. the rules are plain for all the world to see, why would anyone go ahead and post a post like that anyway? let's get real. remember, we are skydivers, not journalist. (well a couple of us are, but at least they don't practice this type of activity) Take Care, Be Safe, And "Just Stick To The Facts" -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  10. Agreed. I never said i hated it, i just stated imho it's dangerous. I've seen a lot of women wear weight belts, and all of them wear them inside their jump suits. I guess i'll have to straighten them out? -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  11. All of the DZ's i jump do not have water hazards. that's a given. do you think a weight belt weighs in water the same as it does in the atmosphere? or is it lighter? -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  12. Slinks definitely. They are stronger and last longer and present less failure. I can remember at least 4 times when i've seen sky divers land with a stretched rapide link, unscrewed....scary! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  13. I'm not denying this fact. I've never seen anyone wear them outside their jump suit, but if they did, the S&TA should shut them down because that is dangerous. Opening snatch force can be a muther some times!
  14. He does possess this ability. I know first hand, i've been chomped by Hook-N-Swoop before for this very reason. Maybe he has range finders built in his eyeballs? -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  15. I'm sure we're all aware that weight belts should be worn inside the jumpsuit. I can't fathom a weight belt coming off if properly utilized, but Murphy's law is ever present. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  16. it was Albert Einstein's belief that the above average intelligent individual needed only 3-4 hours of sleep per 24 hours. Einstein him self slept 4 hours per 24 hour period. His theory behind all of this gobbledegooc was that the electrical stimuli in the brain would shut down only for short periods of time in the more intelligent people, heck, he may be right. I've never slept more than 4 hours at a time in the last 30 years, not because i'm intelligent, but because of my job. I did a sleep study at St. Joeseph hospital in Bryan/College Station, it revealed what i already knew, i'm an insomniac by nature. There are drugs for this, but i'll have none of it. I'll just live with it. But for those who want/need help, it's there. Do an internet search on sleep disorders/studies. It would seem the more stressful our lives and jobs become, the less sleep we are able to get, it's the "Information Age" So sleep depravation is a good/bad thing, and there is help for this disorder that is covered by most health insurances. Take Care, Good Luck And Best Wishes. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  17. so what, your jumping out of the air craft not landing with it! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  18. either way, this whole smoking ban is a done deal. live with it. spend your positive energy on something you can change instead of whipping the proverbial dead horse. know what i mean? have a great day. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  19. i voted for choice number one. this whole "smoking ban" thing is ridiculous. i'm sure a lot of you will agree world hunger, children dying every day, the economy and civil unrest will put this topic in perspective rather quickly. get over it. if you want to get upset about something, let's discuss health care since it affects every sky diver regardless of race, gender creed etc...my life insurance policy was dropped like an anvil in the atlantic when i started sky diving, if i'm injured during a sky diving activity, i am on my own financially. if some one gets hurt, killed or injured during sky diving operations and does not have good health care, now that up sets me because it costs all of us tons of money for that person not being responsible for themselves. not to mention the negative attention it brings with it. smoking bans? c'mon, think about it. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  20. it's really kind of simple, smoking kills. it's not good for you at all. you can eat to your health, drink to your health but you cannot smoke to your health. even animals have sense enough not to smoke. c'mon now, lighten up. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

  22. i beg to differ. why would i even entertain the idea of telling my grandchildren about being unfaithful to their grand mother. such is the reasoning for the demoralization of society, the degenerazion of family. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
  23. 4 children, 2 grand children....NEVER! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
