  1. Dude is a TOOL. Really? Even have to say anything here? Man, go find a Hooker ya loser, get laid and leave yer bad behavior in their bedrooms. DZO shuda sent him home that day (even if he desperately needed him) and put in no uncertain terms, don't do it again. I was in a similar position with a much more experienced instructor and stepped in. I got razzed for doing so but, the student wrote a letter thanking me. It didn't happen again.
  2. If I read this correctly, the pilot is not responsible for the passengers using the belts but, only in briefing them on the use of said belts. Don't wanna nitpick here but, putting a separate belt on a student while crammed into a 182 is not always easy to do. I do it in the back but, use only the one on the front. In the event of a crash, the only time it will bear full weight would be if the plane is upside down. Not trying to diminish that scenario but, not real likely to occur. Any thoughts?
  3. Great. So now, if the TI is out, the folks in the back will have to get past a hooked up student attached to an unresponsive TI who also happens to be blocking the main escape route. Yeah, that sounds like a smart idea.....
  4. I see this all the time and Totally agree here. Just makes sense. My pilot isn't sure and neither ami on what is actually required by the FAA. 2 separate seat belts or can 1 be used for both? I have been using just one myself and don't want to be in violation of anything that might put the pilot in jeopardy. Anyone have a clear answer here?
  5. We've all met this person. Enough experience to know most of what they are doing but, not enough to know what they don't know. Hyper critical of everyone and constantly trying to talk over everyone else. Publicly bad mouthing other's in front of customers and anyone else in earshot. Can't talk enough about their own adventures and of course, how totally badass they were. Anyone else ever meet this guy?
  6. Seems like the best advice....
  7. At what point did it seem like a good idea to grab the toggle? And telling the student to kick? Is that part of the Tandem training? I usually take the biguns and have had this happen quite a few times. Ya get good at flying the openings with semi worn Precision and Icarus mains. Part of the job, a LOT do this. Not sure I agree with the procedure but, chopping and saving 2 lives is always a wise call.....
  8. I'm in Alliance OHio. 309-453-8259 Pete Lutz. I can do it while you are here or can ship
  9. Best place/person to get Master ticket?
  10. Rex I miss SDWP. Glad to see ya still rockin it
  11. Not sure what some of these replies even mean. Clearly they are not right. They were not on the rigs but, looked like they came from them. Was just looking to see if anyone else had ever seen these, they are NOT going back on them. Perhaps that might clarify the reason for the post. Please try to keep the replies on that track. Thanks
  12. Came across some 1 ring risers that were on student vector rigs. Curious if anyone else has seen these before.
  13. I have met several woman that had similar experiences in the military. Despicable. The Romans purposely put the Gays in their military. They fought harder than the straights to save their fellow man.
  14. The toughest part is getting a pair of shoes to go with the bag.......
  15. I know quite a few really good instructors that work at SD. Curious why they said no? Plenty have done it including myself. Depending on where ya live, find a local DZ. Better to have a turbine for the big door. be sure the harness is tight and no assist from anyone without a LOT of practice. It can be done safely.
  16. Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I kinda came to the same conclusion as far as quality on this beast. I always do a thorough inspection on any rig I haven't seen before. Seeing as this was from a student rig, I won't bother. It's getting retired, NOW.
  17. 1991 built by ASP in Texas. In very good condition and shows few pack jobs. Plan on pull test. Anybody know anything about these?
  18. And here we go again. A large DZ is looking for help saying that they do 10k a year in Tandems. The ad is for a Video person. What they fail to mention is, as a video person you MIGHT make .05% of those jumps. If you're really lucky. That's 500. In a year. Sitting around the DZ almost every single day. Almost every person in the picture you see is no longer there.
  19. And yet smoking related health issues are the responsibilities of Who? We all function just fine on clean, non-smoke filled air. It's no secret that smoking is a cause of a whole slew of nasty unhealthy things. I don't smoke, don't want to breathe it in and certainly don't want to cover the added expense of this unnecessary habit. Don't wanna pay? No problem, QUIT. Want to continue your disgusting habit? A: don't do it around other's that don't want to breathe it B: Don't bitch about having to pay for it. Packs are already 5+ bucks anyway. You are the one throwing yer money and health away, nobody is forcing you. Don't force it on someone else.
  20. Always exceptions to the rule. And "Comfortable living" Can be very relative indeed. DZ's that are outside the US and have a higher capital base seem to reward better. If I wasn't anchored here with my pets, I would definitely be going overseas.
  21. I think we may have 2 different situations here. DZO's that falsify the job and those that show up and don't/can't do the job. Both are deceptive and unnecessary. The DZO"s position is not easy. Most instructors (not all) have never run their own business and don't understand the ramifications of undependable behavior. DZ operators don't have the " I don't feel like it" option. They usually have just too much invested. A commitment should be honored, on BOTH sides of the agreement. Perhaps TK is right and it is simply human nature. Or laziness....
  22. The NRA? Just how do you figure that has anything to do with this? Clearly you've been living in a cave. The NRA has been campaigning to KEEP the current laws the way they are. The Liberals are trying to outlaw "Assault" weapons, high capacity magazines and eventually, all guns. A little lesson here, when the government tries to outlaw something, the price for those items go up. When they stay available and have a free market control the price, it will vary by demand and supply. Simple huh? Until recently, market dictated price. Now, with possible banning looming, hysteria over NOT being available is taking over.
