  1. I thought these were the kinda responses I would get. This guy actually wants to be a rigger. Wait till he has to start patching canopies because of his inconsideration. Hope he doesn't mind working for free. The management here is pretty laid back and doesn't like to stir things. Can't understand why he puts up with this myself. I won't tolerate it. The smokers consistently smoke in the hanger or directly upwind of me and our customers. On busy days. The place has great potential and in a fast growing area. Really too bad this is tolerated.
  2. So there is an individual that takes the landing shots ( for the potential to sell them) in the landing area. I have found 2 burning cigarette butts burning in this landing area while walking back. I told him this is a bad idea (really, he had to be told) and he said he wouldn't do it anymore. Yesterday, he had another experienced jumper (150 jumps) standing next to him smoking a cigarette. I asked the guy not to smoke in the landing area. The photographer starts in and telling me he knows what he's doing and blah, blah, blah. I let it go and mentioned it to the owner at the end of the day. This guy walks in in the middle of our conversation and proceeds to tell me how wrong I am and how breathing his smoke isn't going to hurt me. Though there are no smoking signs everywhere, most of the people here smoke and do it in front of me, customers and give no consideration to anyone else. I watched another instructor shoot a video with a cigarette in his mouth. Seems inapropriate to me but, let me know what ya think.
  3. 1st time? keep it simple, tell the instructor ou want to pull the ripcord. Next one starts the real training
  4. Man, that Bill Booth. He hasn't aged a day since the last one of these.
  5. Does anyone know or heard of this guy? He died September 11th 1985
  6. If It's the 1st time you are working on a rig, question EVERYTHING. I recently was working on rigs that had been assembled for several years and discovered all kinds of fun stuff. The most serious being a reserve riser link that had never had the screws properly tightened. It was bent from having a ride on it. The ride happened several years ago and had still been packed. I would have caught the loose screws as part of my checks but, the link looked weird the moment I picked it up. This had been packed by several different riggers including Masters and possibly an I/E. Poor record keeping leaves a mystery here. It was half off the bar and I doubt it would have survived another ride. Spooky stuff for sure.
  7. This is a specially modified excavator for this purpose only. Note the dual cylinders on the stick. The very short boom and a very small excavator. The operator is OK, not particularly smooth and fluid. I have participated in contests for digging, walking and loading. I got my lunch handed to me by guys that really knew what they were doing. Nice demo though.
  8. With GA in the dumps, it begs the question what else are they doing? Don't have time to finish? Really, WTF? These people are dirtbags and should be exposed as such. Till they prove otherwise, no more business, money, or compensation should be directed their way. Period.
  9. it's designed to carry the weight of the plane from the bottom up, not the weight of 2 people from the top down. they are pretty dependable but, like anything that can work it sometimes doesn't and will of course need more attention if it gets more work. I did 6 tandems from a 210 in Honduras. that sucker was fast! turbocharged. short climb and then the pilot was getting yanked around by ATC. no cut. had to be the other side of 140 the 1st time. balled up to make sure we cleared the tail. slowed down some on the others. Fun times and nice ride.
  10. OOOps, meant to say Noomi Rapace as the original Lisbeth. Haven't seen Rooney mara yet
  11. The books are excellent and the original movie was outstanding. Rooney Mara kicked ass just as Lisbeth would have. A high standard to compare to for sure. I am usually disappointed in sequels. hope this is different.

    Ron Paul

Might want to check this out before judging Ron Paul too harshlyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUFpwokJd9w&feature=related
  13. Was a super nice exit. The guy looked very experienced. the deployment mighta been taking it's time but, didn't look unmanageable. Would sure like to know/see what happened here. seems if it coulda happened to this guy, then it could happen to any of us.
  14. Simple history will prove this to be true. Iran has the highest per capita under 30 yr old population on the planet. With the available info on the internet, it is only a matter of time that when they come into the decision making process, they will be making very different decisions. The leaders saw what happened in Libya and don't want to share the same fate as they did. They are just trying to be ahead of the curve. Not surprising at all. I have been saying this for 3 yrs. now.
  15. Upon closer inspection, there is a small seperation of the fabric near the base on the P/C. Good ornament. The bag and bridle are in great shape and will be saved for future use. The entire bridle passed a 50# pull test and the bag is still like new. I agree it is not worth saving a buck. New P/C for sure. Thanx for the input all.
  16. Found a missing freebag in the corn. It was out there for about 2.5 months. It was buried in the corn and after many trips looking for it, was never found. I was riding in the harvester and we found it that way. Had some dirt on it but, no discoloring. A wash in mild soap and it looks no worse for the wear. The question is: test (pull) and reuse or don't take a chance. Again, it was not in the sun. Got wet maybe 2x. Any and all input will be helpful. Thanx
  17. As a former logger(in Michigan) this is known as timber trespassing. There are laws against this and fines have been levied. I never crossed that path and was always very careful to avoid this situation. A decent attorney should be able to stop this immidiately and bring an action for damages. Seems a laydown to me based on what you have said so far. Good luck.
  18. 18 where I packed, waivered, geared and jumped. 26 just jumping. Was sore after that. Pretty consistently do 15-20 a day. I find it easier the more I do. I actually have gotten re-invigorated after dealing with a very restrictive situation. Fun, fun, fun!
  19. I tend to be a solitary soul and often prefer it that way. My bird and cat kinda feel the same way. So when 3 other cats show up, there's always an adjustment. I started feeding them and before ya know it, we all start crashing together. Now they are part of the family. Couldn't possibly put them in a shelter. Not sure how this is gonna work but, can't back out now. Am I a sap or what?
  20. Love apple products but, I've never really liked jumping on all the bandwagons when they came by. Did some comparison and for the next 2 yrs, I will have an EVO 4g. Thanx for all the responses. The post by spence may have convinced me. Great stuff
  21. Question; Wait for I Phone 4s or get EVO HTC right away? Self confessed technotard. I was happy my last phone had texting. I will use the send pictures feature and hopefully learn a few other features. Any help will be appreciated. Thanx
  22. Yeah, it's last minute but hey, It's Bob. Customer appreciation boogie this weekend at skydive Greensburg. Food, Beer and a few fun jumps thrown in for good measure. Bob's birthday bash. bring pie supplies. Attempt at guinness world record for largest pie-ing(?) gag gifts welcome. Prizes and drop. Carnage likely. Last one here b4 we move.
  23. We jumped out of that in Honduras. They use it for training there elite paratroopers. kinda fun leaving the aircraft with little kids and their parents geeking us as we went out the door. Even better going out with the paratroopers at 800'. Nobody questioned the base rig i used. Or wined about opening a bit lower than they did.
  24. So this guy shows up today and says he's an instructor. Ask to see the usual stuff and find out he doesn't have a medical, logbook, rating card, USPA card or any shred of evidence that he's jumped out of an airplane. On top of that, he's got his peach of a wife chain smoking Pall malls in front of his infant child. Add in his out of control dog that is trying to go after the DZ cats that hang out here. They both got pissed when I told them that the dog going after our cats was unacceptable. Amazing. They left. Were headed to Texas. Maybe they'll keep going farther south.
