  1. That is awesome that you guys got a "thing" going. A lot of the members of the Florida League travel anywhere from 4 to 6 hours, and then when you add the New Yorkers and the Brits and Finns, well you get the picture, like Big Al said, IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL SWOOP IT!!! You're on the way to being world famous. If I can swing it I will try to make it up there to see how you all do your thing. But for the in between time I will enjoy jumping out of your Otter (did I mention it was warm in Georgia). Good Luck & Swoop Safe!! Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  2. Hey Spence I'll try 'em with ya, you and me can go to the ER together I don't give a fuck bro. Bring on the Drunken (possibly toxic, almost definately flammable)Apples. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  3. I'll be there Friday. Homey. For those that care the Best Western in Vero Beach is like a 20 min drive and 64.00 a night. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  4. I totally agree with Stu, you should definately develope your technique before you add weight. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  5. SUPER G!!! Dude hope you can make it, that would be sweet. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  6. I will agree with Ian definately seek out quality canopy coaching from a reputable coach. I would also take a moment to seriously consider selling your Stilletto and buying a similarlly sized Sabre II. The Sabre II has a longer recovery arc which is more condusive to swooping, is not packing sensitive, and being a shaped or tapered canopy is less condusive (at least in my experience 850 Sabre II jumps) to line twists and spinnies. In essence it is a more all around stable platform to learn on as apposed to a Stilletto on which in my opinion you should already be a fairly competant pilot. Just FYI when the Stilletto was introduced PD required the purchasing pilot to have at least 1,000 jumps. There are people that will tell you "You'll be fine as long as............" You have to ask yourself if at your current experience level you can handle the variables like a rapidly spinning/ diving malfunction, would you feel comfortable exiting the plane @ 2,000 feet if an emergency arrose, could you plant that canopy down in someones back yard if you had to. The largest part of being a swooper is recognizing your limits, exercising restraint and making good decisions. Please don't think we're all beating up on you, we just want to see you be successfull and safe. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  7. Awwwwww you guys are makingme blush!! I will admit it feels pretty good. Super Big thanks to Art and Al who worked together to put on what was ultimately one hell of a comp. Adversity kept rearing its ugly head, and solutions kept getting laid out. Thaks to JayMo and Brian McNenny for imparting all of their smarts, and especially for stepping up when Al tried to teach the airport who was boss. HUGE thanks to the judges who suffered through the crap weather, the frozen plane and everything else right along with us, because without all of these lovely ladies, don't nothin' happen. I also want to thank Skysystems for protecting Al's noggin, you shoulda seen it, not a scratch on that helmet, and of course PD and all of the great support they give to the FLCPA. Something that really should shine through about this comp is how many people that have never been in the top ten placed in the top ten. There was a whole lotta personal improvement in the face of diversity and I think that goes a long way to define the group dynamic and team mentality the pilots and members of the Southeast Region share, everyone willing to support and help the person who is trying to beat them, It's just the coolest thing going...........I LOVE IT!!! 8. SOOOOOOOOOOOO I guess the next question is where is everyone gonna crash Saturday night if we do in fact have to compete on Sunday? I've called around and availability in Palatka for Sat night was nill. This calls for some kind of wonder twin powers type of pool the resources thing. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  9. Steve-O was a freeflyer (ADD #3), and as far as freestyle goes Noah was bringing the heat at the end of last year.....complex tricks and forever water contact. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  10. I'm just going to submit a standard "Deployment issues" excuse and let that ride for a while. And for those who care, I just finally made it through my first 120 day pack cycle in over a year. I AM SOOOO PROUD!! I think due to use a 143 Optimum is in my future. I wish you all fun and adventure lugging your weightbelts through the airports and such....... 11. For what it's worth as a NOOB (to wingsuits anyway), I appreciated the No Flocker Left Behind policy as it was displayed @ FD 3.5 which was my first wingsuit event. The Grey Bros, Gray Mike, Chuck, Jeffro, Tony, Rob Jones, Robbie Pechnik, the other dude from Phoenix Fly who's name I can't remember, Scott all took the time to either give us some ground coaching or take us flying (or both), and just about every other flyer had something usefull or encouraging to say. The treatment and enthusiasm I recieved from all of the flockers led me to buy my first wingsuit at that event......my boss bought one too. Not bad for two newbie wingsuiters, for whatever it's worth, I like the No Flocker Left Behind program...........got me hooked. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  13. So you were confident @ 54 jumps that not only could this guy fly a wing suit, but that he could spot the plane, deal with malfunctions with the added gear, had the canopy skills and wherewithall to make it back to the landing area and the ability to safely land his canopy. There is more to skydiving than just flying the suit or falling out of the sky. I wonder if you went over ALL of the bad shit that COULD happen, or did you toss him out the door and tell him "Don't even worry about it dude, your gonna be fine"? As an instructor you have the responsibility to let your student know all of the negatives along with the positives. It is never an instructors right to not be forthcoming about possible negative outcome. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  15. The last time I talked to Lee I was headed for the Turkey Meet in Z-Hillz, he tried to get me to stop in Tallahassee to "get a good sleep and an early start", like that would have happened. I wish I would have.......even if it would have meant a late start. Aside from being "the other loud fat kid" I will miss that sooty fucker for just being himself. I will definately miss our conversations about swooping and wingloading, I really wanted to see that fucker fly my 103. Go easy brother.........my life has been enriched from knowing you. 16. So who's got the what, where and how once we all get to SJU. Anyone with a plan, or a clue, or who knows where the closest bar to the airport is. Anything at all............Bueller Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  17. Providing I have no swoop comp that weekend, I will be there, so trow my name up on the list 'cause I don't know how. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  18. Dude......that is nothing even closely resembling canopy control. 6 or 7 feet off the ground, damn near full flare, looks to me like he was trying to land right in front of the spectators and overshot (also known as The Asshole Maneuver) putting himself and them at risk. Same individual world famous for grossly inappropriate sexual comments toward pretty girls on the big ways. His sponsors if any must be proud. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

  20. At least if I landed out at SDA I'd be familiar with the area. Sadly I have been told that I have to work and will not be there for any flocking enjoyment. However if The Purple Turd of Wandering wants to "organize" a small flock two miles upwind of the LZ.....GO..... you'll love all the skillz you get to practice (like tree and cow shit avoidance) as well as advanced barbed wire fence jumping and honors hitchhiking. Have no fear though, he doesn't care if you made it back or not, just as long as he had fun. Y'all be safe, and hopefully I'll catch up with ya at Thanksgiving in Z-Hillz. 23. OK. So I was going for the wingsuit flying......now I'm kinda on the fence. I have done a lot of coaching with the PD Boyz and know from personal exeperience, you always get more than you pay for, but to do it in PR is taking it to the next level. For anyone who has done PD coaching before, you know what I'm saying, for anyone who has never taken a PDFT canopy course DO IT!! I mean how many people can actually say they went to a beach boogie and came back a better canopy pilot?? You will, no doubt about it. Not to mention these guys are hard to nail down so take advantage. See y'all in PR. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  24. If Scott is not available during the time you're there you should try to contact any of the FL based PD boys (Shannon, Ian, or Jay) through Flight-1. If you just happen to find yourself there with no plans ask for Majat (pronounced Ma Ha) at manifest and if he is unable to help you with what you need, he will certainly hook you up with someone who can. If you find yourself down around Z-Hillz, ask for Tom Deleback (the younger one), Chuck Blue, or Jamie Kanupe. If you're near Palatka, just go to manifest and tell them your story, ask for Scott Roberts if he is unavailable Fast Trax trains there and I'm sure they will get you hooked. If in Tallahassee ask for Brian McNenny, he's a Fast Trax swooper and he flies camera there. That's all I can think of off the top of my head, PM me if you have questions, and I'll do my best to help you out. In the mean time work as hard and as often as you can on the basic skillz you have (altitude and traffic pattern awareness, executing the correct approach pattern, landing accuracy, etc.) perfecting the basic skills will go a long way for you in learning to be a high performance canopy pilot. As with everything "advanced" no matter what the discipline, you have to start with a solid foundation in the basics. Luckily for you, after every skydive you have the opportunity to fly your canopy, work to master the basics and get quality coaching whenever you can. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
  25. Tony makes some fantastic suits, I enjoyed all of the ones I had a chance to fly, if you have the time you should compare against the Phoenix-Fly Phantom or Ghost, if you contact Robert or Kathy at Morpheus they can probably hook you up and you'd be able to side-by-side compare in the same day. Preach on, preach on, preach on Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
