Could be that Chili's is not BASE friendly is because....... I was in there once and the Waitress Came over to our table. Then asked if we were BASE jumpers. I said.. Yea. She said.. I second that....just got back Monday night. No one in the Norgie.Club is getting Rich. The van ride up hill, a few kilometers. And a boat ride back to shore is a small price to pay. There are costs & overhead. The boat especially is a safety factor issue. If there is a problem, you got pulled out of very cold water fast. Also they are on top of it. If by chance you ever get hung up on a ledge and need Evacuation. A couple of people were grounded for that Eagles Nest Screw-up, But that was bad judgment, during an organized BASE event. I also noticed that the Stavanger BASE club purchased, Ten new complete BASE rigs in a assortment of sizes from B.R. To add a even Higher degree of safety for that person being Trained up for His or Her first jump. Face it people go there to do there first jump based on the extra height of that object (3000 ft.) as we all know height does not make it safer. so I say Do what it takes to make a FJC a high standard. The only rule that I really was told to follow at the Heli-Boogie was Keep your canopy rides over 15 seconds. but only for 3 days Dont kill yourself. Have fun. Pretty much do what you want. The jumps are Quality. You can go there and hit it as hard as you want to jump. I had some really good jumps. Great time. Thanks : Stein, Ronny, Kim and the rest.

Hey ....Mac I remember when I was laid up about 10 years or more, ago with a broken Femur and Heal. I was a couple hundred jump wonder at the DZ, when I got my first ZP canopy. Before that the hottest canopy on the DZ was a PD 150. So, Wham - Bam. I was out 5 months. I will tell you a short and TRUE Story...... Three of us. Zaz, Josh and I were climbing a tower on a warm summer night. The Moon was full and the fields below the tower was fresh cut hay ready to bail. We were up about maybe 300 ft. when we saw a truck coming up the dirt road towards the tower. We froze and slowly moved keeping the steel frame work between us and the truck. Below we could not see much but we defiantly heard 2 doors slam shut on the, pickup truck. Our Sliders were up on the pack jobs. We had to go up. We climbed extra quiet and we finally made it to the top of the crows nest. It was almost 900 ft.up. We all were more nervous than usual because of the extra drama. I said "At least the wind is in our favor and we don't have to exit over the truck." I swear to god it was not 5 minutes latter and sure as shit the wind shifted. Blowing towards the truck. We talked a bit and made some kind of game plan in case the shit hit the fan and we had to make a run for it on landing. Standing around we were looking at each other wondering who was going first. Naturally I said "Fuck it, I'm out of here" So I exited first, starring at the truck on the way down. I did not smoke it to deep on the delay but it was good. I opened up and Guess what I saw ??? Apperently a warm summer night, full moon and a tower attract more than BASE jumpers. Sprawled out on a blanket in the fresh cut hay. A Guy and a young Girl, were shagging hard at it.

Like Tom said "It's all about Learning" First I would like to say that I have busted my ass more time than I can remember from mistakes under Canopy. * But * The wind was Not the KEY Factor that people got hurt on Sunday. The winds were not that radical or wild. *People Dropped break lines. *Blew break lines. *Down wind landing *Hooked it around got dumped. Most I think did not understand how to make a flat 180 deg. turn and land into the wind while getting a good fast tail push. Extra fast tail wind can make your canopy respond Shitty if you don't get much practice or don't have the experience to handle it. If you were flying down wind you were hauling ass. **Set up for landing was important** Hooking it around to land combined with a bad flair. Or Just Wasting to much TIME F###ing around after you Have a problem with a real fast tail wind. * Bad Move * I sat out on Saturday and drank Beer. It's just takes a lot of fun out of it when the wind was that fast. The stiff wind was just that little extra that would bite you in the ass if you screwed up. I saw a bunch of people standing down on Saturday and Sunday. They played there own game plan and walked away to jump another day. * Smart Move *

Yo, Tom... Wasn't there a case in Ozz. several years back where a Jumper had a 180 on a cliff jump and actually snagged a female climber by the head with the nose of canopy and peeled her off ? Wrong place at the Wrong time.

Paying for Packers.... The best example I can think of, for Hired Packers would be Avery's KL Tower jump 2001 I think it was - Ed Trick - (correct me if i am wrong) He brought like six Rigs He hired about 4 packers I think some of them were locals at the DZ & trained them in about a day. for BASE packing I think he got about, 21 jumps that day. I think we only had a six hour jump window. with long lunch break in the middle. * BUT *.......... He had, Two broken Brake lines, Line Over and a Tree landing. but he was F##king happy ! The first in Two & half years and his first Antenna. Slider Down And he is correct !!! He will not get much use out of a slider up Rig. He climbs as slow as my Grandmother. and she is dead. 400 ft. in 45 Minutes It's 900 ft. to the top. sorry dude could not resist.

Sticking out of a cup of dirt between two rocks, a few feet from the exit. Dude you wouldn't grab this pile of sticks if your life depended on it. I noticed tied to this bush was, several pieces of old Boot Lace, knotted together, Tied to a Binocular strap. It seems that D.W. was there a couple of days earlier and had no one to P.C.A. him off the rock. So that is all he had in his possession at the time to make a static line to tie his Pilot Chute off, to get close enough to the edge to launch.

As an accomplished student, going with jumpers with 75, 100, 200 jumps is great. But you do not have those kinds of people taking you on your first jump. There is just NO need anymore accept impatience. But being impatient in this sport can get you killed. .......................................................................... That is a good statement ... But... "Impatient" BASE is all fun and games till someone gets hurt. But, Taking what you can Get. Is and will keep happening.Maybe a lot less than it used to, but it will go on forever. There is always people running up that are Hungry for a jump with huge Balls that cant wait. Some people will do there first BASE jump with a jumper with lower experience than is desired by the wait and take you time BASE'ers. -Hungry for a jump,- will Over-Ride, Waiting and taking your Time in a lot of cases, I would imagine. I agree you should pace yourself and get experienced jumpers to show you how. What are you going to do ??? It's the nature of the Beast.
