  1. Interesting about the Av gas.Just got notified today that effective May 21 prices at SSM will be $19 for the Grand caravan to 13,500ft. and $18 for the T-Bo that goes up to 11-12000Ft.Still beats wasting 6 hours on the golf course with beer guzzling obnoxius "golfers"
  2. Aggie Dave I hope that your scr ceremony lives up to what we do down south of you.I would love to be a part of your ceremony. If not we can properaly induct you with one of our veteran SCR master of ceremonies inducting you. Blue Skies, Dave
  3. His reason's are 1 he says it is very easy to go into a side spin with these types of exits and 2 you hose your camera man. When I first started doing tandems I did a couple of front loops and had advised the camera man of this. As soon as the video came up he came over to me and stated that we don't do those here for the above stated reasons. i.e. I had been warned.Aircraft at the time was a super otter, now we jump a grand caravan and the twin- bo.As big as I am about 50% of my exits are a front roll from the T-Bo.Not "intentional" so no flak on those. I'm curious to know what you think is the greatest cause of sidespins. Blue Skies Dave
  4. DZO at our drop zone says no intentional flips on exit. They happen but its not by design. He will fire your ass if he catches it on video so my vote is that I don't do them intentionally.
  5. Aggie Dave,I use the top of the toggles hold as taught to me by Gary Morgan down at Beeville.Stall surge is my prefered method and with the Icarus Mains we use they have great amount of lift at the bottom end if you bury the togglesat the end of the landing approach.90% of my landings are standup but with a 230 pounder and no wind it is legs up and do the old butt slide. Look forward to jumping with aggie gang soon. Soft Landings, Dave
  6. 0:27:3 First Aff class, first time putting my name on the board to do Aff, first time catching the ripcord after a student forgot to hold on to it after deploying on a tandem.A big thanks to Glen Bangs,Leigh Fairbank and Allen Flynn for putting together an awesome Aff class.
  7. 0:12:1 Case of beer for first AFF pre-course. Boy was that an eye opener.
  8. 0:20:0 Great weekend with Kim our firedancer/skydiver putting on quite a show for my birthday/thanks Donna.Winds were up today but finally got a few jumps after 4p.m.
  9. Just play it by ear.Your body will let you know when it's ready.Do a hop and pop and see how it feels. As far as food eat foods that you can easily rinse out.Rinsing with a salt water solution of 1/2 teaspoon salt to 8oz.of warm water after each meal and before retiring at night will greatly speed up the healing process.Be glad that one of lives little ordeals is over. Blue Skies, Davel
  10. I've got a son son who is a freshman in highschool involved in the naval junior rotc program that wants to join the Army go airborne and hopes that the shit in Irag and Afghanistan is still going on so that He can kill Al Quida and Taliban.I pray that this will all be over but it seems that this part of earth has been at war since the first recording of history and I hope that our politician's don't use votes to dictate policy!!!!!
  11. Does this mean no derogatory about Queen Elizabeth.I visited a place in London where people actually stood on soap boxes and said what ever they wanted to say as long Queen Elizabeth was not slammed.GWB is fair game?
  12. Party Party Party, do we party at skydive San Marcos. One of our jumers Dave Hobbs brings 4 big coolers of beer iced down of Guiness,Corona,Heinken,Shiner Bock,Mikes hard lemon aid"Bucci's favorite"Miller Light, Dos equiss, and of course his favorite Newcastle Brown Ale.And all the skydivers posting first's such as their first jump in Steve Van Buren's Hughes 296C helicopter(Steve is the former owner of the DZ and still lives on site}bring their case of beer.Bonfires are regular routine with the Dz Phil an expert in the hit and roll technique.Phil will have crawfish boils and whole pig BB-Q's with a special pit where the pig is on the bottom and the coals are on the top. Then we Have Captain Loud with his brisket. If you want to hang SSM is the place to be!!!!
  13. I have another profession Dentistry in the state of Texas that when you screw up the State Board of Dental examener's sends out out a report quarterly to all members that is to the point why a member is disciplended. This info is available to the general public. The same should apply to the USPA.Why would one be banned for life from the uspa.If one would ever want to promote BASE or illegal jumping then I would say this would be the stimulus for it.
  14. OSU,the Lucas kid has added the Karma that was needed and after coming from the fiasco at Baylor he has been the missing piece.Plus Eddie Sutton is due.
  15. Chad, don't have your e-mail address but I know you have probably seeked legal advice already. As far the use of deadly force in Texas it is not warranted for trespassing and you can not use deadly force if someone is stealing or damaging your property during daylight hours. If your life or others are threatned then ok.The law is different when there is no visible light remaining and if someone is stealing your property then ok. Car repo guys take this into consideration when they reposses a vehicle.Mcnasty had no right whatsoever to assault Chad but he is part of a very prominent family in Caldwell county and as the saying goes Money talks and bullshit walks.Chad I hope you mend quickly and I'm sure you know that we have an excellent prosecutor that jumps at the DZ that hopefully will lend you some good advice. If you need any help with anything feel free to ask!
  16. I guess the earth is not a drop zone.I've landed off a couple of times on farmer Mcnasty's land and I must have been lucky that he didn't try to shoot me.I took all my gear home figuring that if he is crazy enough to try and run someone over and actually succeed there is no telling what he might do next.Bad part is Chad's income will be hurt since he is one of our packers.Maybe we will refer to Chad as farmer Chad in the near future.
  17. 0:12:0 11 tandem jumps,1hop and pop.Couldn't start jumping each day until clouds cleared about 2:30 p.m.Look forward to jumping out of Steve Van Buren's helicopter on the 28th.Yahoo!!!!!,spring is here.
  18. MY favorite assault rifle the M-1 Garand with its top load 8 round clip is a joy to shoot at steel rams @ 500 meters. To squeeze off a shot with open sights, look up from your sights hear the hit and then see the ram fall over is a great experience.I've got Pre-Ban weapons, post ban weapons and WW1 weapons and at the ranges that the murderers in the D.C. area where taking their pot shots any damn firearm that has ever been produced in the history of firearms would suffice.
  19. Chaos Kitty, Gave me her killer Margarita mix that kept everyone at the DZ.Hope your skies are blue in Tennessee.
  20. Casie,I've got some swamp land next to ELOY for sale.
  21. Lisa, when was your last tandem jump?
  22. At the drop zone I work at first time jumpers don't wear an altimeter. So mute point on them pulling on time.AAD yes, safe landing????????????
  23. If some sorry SOB was robbing my hacienda I would first try say to myself is he/she armed.when in doubt I would not hesitate to neutralize the threat of harm to myself or my family.I have a concealed handgun license in TEXAS and the course in very specific in when you can use deadly force.REminds me of Cecil an elderly gentleman in the course who was asked if a neighbor knocked at his door and he didn't answer what would he do if that neighbor stuck his head through his bedroom window. Cecils reply was I would shoot them. When the instuctor asked why Cecil stated that his neighbor's knew not to stick their heads through his bedroom window.Welcome to Texas.
  24. With spring break kicking into high gear and the weather warming more skydivers will be out and about getting their time in the air. If you are headed to Skydive San Marcos for the first time and are coming in from San Antonio or Austin way via I-35 and highway 80 watch out for the infamous Martindale police force on highway 80. Their city limit extends for about 4-miles of highway frontage with most of it being pasture and farm land. The speed limit varies between 50 and 55 mph. They will bust you for just a couple of miles over the speed limit.Does anyone have a speed trap on route to their Drop Zone? Blue Skies and have a safe and great season.
  25. Hey Deci, I vote for your home brew over the heinies but with Dave Hobbs bringing Newcastle brown ale along with Corona,ShinerBock, Dos Equiss Special lager, Guiness, and of course Phil and Debs' Miller Lite there is no reason one must drink all the Heineken. Are you bringing any home brew this weekend? Weather is supposed to ROCK! Dave
