Learned that Dennis passed away on 1/31/2014 from a post on Facebook from his brother Phil, former DZO of Skydive SanMarcos. Dennis was a big help to me when I first started jumping.Still remember his hard landing when he broke his femur and back. Phil's comment when he came up to his brother "welcome to the club" RIP old friend.

Patrick Allen Flynn passed away November 26th after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. Allen,as he preferred to be called, was my AFF instructor and later my AFF I/E along with Glen Bangs and Lee Fairbank. You will be missed by many that learned and jumped with you here at SkyDive San Marcos. RIP my friend,

It surprised me on the # old time jumpers that didnt have AADs at SSM. And staff most who probably had their AAds expire!. Take where the knee jerk jump came from a speed star! all different levels of experince! I would have no hesitation to jumpimg with a John Rich a Carol Lee a Weldon people who were jumping before AADs were on the market. I picked up a tandem rig after after it had been jumped> AAD not turned on ? the tandem instructour his response? I was doing tandems before there was Drouges, AADs

I have 3 rigs, just recenly 2 have no AADs one my mirage with an Argus, banned, the 2nd a Cypress 12 years old good bye the third a racer never had an AAD. My pockets may have a little cushion! but I will be doing tandems to pay for these new AADs that I am forced to jump wiith at my home DZ. I have made it a policy not to take away from my family over skydiving financially.We have 1 instructor that has 6 rigs. bottom line there is no profit in teaching AFF

FYI effective July 1st, 2012 anyone wanting to make a jump at Sky Dive San Marcos must have an AAD equipped rig. No exceptions!

I have had a partical camera man flick the boogie at my student in freefall at SSM. He no longer works there. All in all we have a very professional staff at SkyDive San Marcos that treats customers with respect! This goes for the video guys as well as the instructors. FYI Connie Krusi will be taking her ten thousandt tandem student on a jump jump soon. I believe a young man named Vic Krusi will be riding front seat

I had the privalige to work with and learn from Terry in his last days of skydiving. the knowledge he imparted on me could never be put in print or video. The man was cat quick on a out of control student. His way with words priceless!! RIP Terry.

What was stated in the USPA e-mail newsletter is an accurate assesment on what happened. The rigger followed all proper channels in reporting the incident.The cutter failed to cut the reserve closing loop completely. I have an Argus in my Mirage.If I jump the rig due in light on what has happened I will not not turn the AAD on.
