Jump Door for Cessna 182P SUCCESS !!!!!
jonstark replied to goobersnuftda's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ralph will send anyone that buys this STC a copy of a copy of a mimeographed copy of a crayon drawing done by a third grader. It's crap but it's legal. Jon -
Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise
jonstark replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Seems to me that yhe plain language reporting clause would be satisfied with a mere phone call... "we had a jumper land out today"." Period. I saw no requirement to keep any kind of record. MHS may well be in total compliance. Just because the airport doesn't record it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Fleashit in the pepper Kim. Jon -
Call Joannie at The Sunshine Factory to see if anyone else has contacted her wanting to share. Jon

Where to find aircraft spotting in SIM
jonstark replied to albatross2's topic in Safety and Training
What type of aircraft are you going to be spotting? How high are you expecting to spot from? Solo jump? How tight a landing area? Any nearby places you absolutely shouldn't land in? These are a few questions to answer. For a novice spotter it would be a good start to be told by someone exactly where on the ground you should exit over. In the old days a spot was often as particular as a specific tree or house or intersection. Nowadays with square reserves it's less critical but good spotting lands cutaways closer to home. Understand that it is best to fly DIRECTLY into the wind on jump run. Learning how to look straight down is essential too. Get these and you're home free. Spotting is practically a lost art with GPS spotting but a good spotter is still highly regarded. Jon -

I jump a Sabre1 135 built in 1990 and still love it. Jon -
It was all a hoax. Don't you know that already?!

Have you also noticed that there are far fewer well executed exits with today's "counts"? Fekkin full faced helmets. Grumble grumble. I miss kiss passes too! Jon

No disrespect but, why?

There's no way it can stick but you'll lose by defult if you don't respond. As said before the only non-compete that is valid is for proprietary or very specialized jobs. You have the right to work at this menial task and his non-compete is bogus.

There was a student in Deland in the mid-1980's who was trained using a tandem rig. This was before drogues were in use. He was huge and a challenge but it worked out. You might get some input from Bob Hallet. Jon

Crossing the Potomac-D.C. directions help please
jonstark replied to sundevil777's topic in The Bonfire
All you need to know is that DC was designed to thwart attempts by invaders to find the Capital. They did a good job! Best of luck! Truthfully, it's not that bad even if you miss a turn or two. There are many ways to get wherever you're headed. Jon -
Mid-1980s I had a friend terribly addicted to coke who pulled a similar stunt to get incarcerated hoping it would save his life. First try the judge sent him home with a stern lecture. Second try he took a gun and got sent up. For some it might be a survival tactic. Jon

I used to use one for demo jumps in Savannah in the seventies. It was fine for two to four jumpers but was a bear to spot. No hooked up exits. Door too small and tail too close. Jon

Silly skydiving injuries
jonstark replied to Joellercoaster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
An old friend felt herself starting to float up out of a formation so hung on tight. So tight in fact that she broke a finger as the premature deployment pulled her out. Jon -

There is a folding seat mod available for the 206 that uses cargo rails bolted to the side of the cabin for seat attachment. It's an STC from BAS or F Atlee Dodge. Jon

When cider just starts to ferment we call it "bees in the cider" because of the fizz. Sounds as though yours should be strong with the extra sugar. Yum! Jon
