This made me laugh for days. While this visit from Mr. Bush may have been somewhat costly, I don't know what foot the spend-happy liberals have to stand on when they complain about this trip. I hope you don't really believe that. To say that "some of it is exaggerated, Moore is a pussy liberal" maybe has some validity, but don't call him a communist for God's sake. I think we all need to remember that, yes, there are a couple parts of this movie that are perhaps false or not entirely true. But most of the facts the movie presents are indeed fact. Jmpnkramer, I respect your opinion and knowledge, so I'm not going to try to defend myself too righteously here, but I did say in the post that I wasn't terribly accurate about things. I was quickly trying to get my point across to the person I was posting to, and didn't take up too much time to look up too many facts. I think making a comment such as "its nearly impossible to die from skydiving based on pure accident" isn't terribly inaccurate at all. Most people who die while skydiving make a mistake at some point during the jump that costs them their life, how many people do you hear of that die simply because they had a double baglock malfunction? It just doesn't happen... I read your post, and learned from it...just don't be quite as quick to bite my head off next time, I know I've only made 5 jumps, but I've read about a dozen books on skydiving, spent countless hours hanging out at the DZ, and ask a lot of questions to learn as much as I can. The only reason I have 5 jumps is because I'm a poor college kid....number of jumps does not necessarily equal knowledge of the sport. So sure, I know nothing compared to you, but I know more than probably most anyone out there with only 5 jumps, and maybe more than a decent number of people with 20-30 jumps. I'm obsessed with learning, and I'm obsessed with learning about skydiving. I've aquired a bit of knowledge about the sport in the few months I've been interested in it, and I try to be very responsible with that knowledge, so don't be hatin so much... Jeff, awesome story, and congrats on your achievement. Have fun with them solos...I haven't gotten that far yet, but from what I'm told, a fun thing to do for your first solo is to just stare at the ground the entire time watching the Earth come up at you with the wind in your face. Hey man...I didn't want to tell you this earlier, but I failed my first clear and pull too! You're taking it with a great attitude. I was all hell-bent and pissed for days after I failed, but you came right back and said "it was great...so what I fucked it up".
