  1. Does anyone else buy into the suggestion that the media 'causes violence in America with their byast, sensationalized stories? The scene with Barry Glasner about the Culture of Fear is one that doesn't stick out in the movie, but I think it offers some good points...America's media does spend a disproportionate amount of time covering murders...whatever sells I guess... -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  2. Dang! Update: 5:0 -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  3. Shawndiver- Yeah, I've read in the Parachuting Manual (Poynter) that you're supposed to look. My instructors just told me to keep my eye on the plane, and go by feel. I took their advice and had a great jump. I guess it's really up to the jumper, if you think you can look at the ripcord without dearching...then go right ahead I suppose. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  4. Acne medicine. I used to be on it when I was in high school. They told me it might make me suicidal...it never did, but I know there have been more than a few people kill themselves over it. The Dr. said like one in every 6 or 7 thousand who take it, attempt suicide. He said that it could just be because they have chronic acne, and have nothing to do with the medicine...so it's hard to say. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

    Bad dreams

I have such dreams from time to time, I dream about skydiving every night (that's probably because I never stop thinking about it...is that unhealthy)? Anywho, my half a cent worth of shit would suggest not telling the person you dreamt about them going in. I know if someone had that dream about me, I wouldn't want to know, unless I was actually doing something wrong that might cause me to die (packing incorrectly, forgot to put my rig on before boarding the plane, didn't turn Cypres on, etc). -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!

    WWJD???

Yeah, there's a General Skydiving Discussion thread on it that alerted me to it. I saw it right when I was going to read the thread. I'm fed up to the eyes with the Jared/Subway craze...you'd think they'd let it go already. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  7. How about just as I clicked on this link, the commercial came on my TV. Did the government do that? -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  8. Vibes alanab. I'm in college too, so I feel you're pain! You'll do fine, I promise. (Philosophy's a bitch, aint' it?) -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  9. Wow. Glad they're okay. A few more hundred yards out, and this could've easily been a fatality. I noticed you said they did not check the spot when they got out...is this commonplace for beach dives?!?! -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  10. Hahaha...awesome. Nice flyin. I love watching the view you had there. Seeing all those people on the same plane of view. My favorite part is when the guy in the middle (I'm sure there's a word for that...sorry), deploys. It's neat seeing him 'fly up' out of the crowd. Nice filmin, and congrats on your achievement. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  11. blue- I did my first freefall a few weeks ago from the SL program. I'll assume you're exiting on a 182? My advice would then be, arch before you let go, keep your eye on the plane the entire time before your chute opens, point your toes, and take your time pulling...don't hurry it and go unstable. That's what my instructors told me, and it worked out great for me. Oh, also...it'll seem like forever from the time you pull, till the time you're in the saddle. That's normal...we're just used to those practice pulls with the risers already by our ears. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  12. eh? How does a film questioning why so many Americans, compared to other western nations, kill each with guns, become "entertainment"? Thought provoking, astonishing, mystifying, sickening and bizarre perhaps, but i wouldn't call it entertaining. Yeah, there have been a lot of people in this thread refer to Bowling For Columbine as entertaining (myself included even). I would define entertaining as something that humors you, gives you pleasure, or makes you feel good. Nothing about Bowling For Columine gave me pleasure or made me feel good...(it did humor me a bit at times). The movie made me feel empty and lonley if anything. After watching it, I couldn't stop thinking about how if America is this fucked up, and we're the "best country on the planet", then what's going on in these other countries. It's made me decide that maybe we're not the best country on the planet. From a standpoint of economy and power, sure...but there's a lot more to life than power and money. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  13. My Dad called me today and informed me that my boss that I've worked for the last two summers in a co-op job died on her way home from work yesterday. Her name was Trudy, she was very well known as the head of the Professional Education Department at DePuy Orthopaedics (owned by Johnson and Johnson) in Warsaw, IN. She dealt with hundreds of doctors and surgeons all over the world, and was a very popular person in any crowd. She leaves behind a husband and three kids, all under the age of 12. I'll miss her...if you're a praying person, keep her family and friends in your prayers. If you're not a praying person, throw her some vibes. Thanks for everything Trudy. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  14. Are you the Bill that filmed the video of this I've got on my computer? -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  15. Amen skygrl. I love that song. Definietly a good one for a skydiving soundtrack. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  16. Completely normal! Even though I've never even been close to doing it. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  17. I'd venture to say that every skydiver probably gets at least a little nervous before each jump. Hurling yourself out of a plane is something I hope no one gets completely used to, to the point they're not nervous at all! Plus, the more we advance, the more challenges we'll offer ourself, which will give us more stuff to be nervous about. Right now we're nervous because we don't have many jumps, and we're still in a state of shock that we're actually jumping from planes...200 jumps from now, we'll be nervous if we can plant the head-down okay without flipping all over the sky. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  18. Linkin Park-Pushing Me Away Heard this on a skydiving video once, it fit really well. Louis Armstrong-What A Wonderful World and Coldplay-Don't Panic, might be good ones for once the chute has opened if the song is being played along with video footage. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  19. Awesome pics conundrum. You look very poised for only your 8th jump. Good work. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  20. He's right, you know. What do we really need hand-guns for? I think it's funny that all these guys who say they have a ".44 magnum" because they like to hunt, etc. What the hell type of animal are you going to kill with a .44 magnum? A human...that's what kind. I would never for a second suggest taking away shotguns, rifles, and other guns designated for hunting. But honestly, what does someone need a hand-gun for? Give me one reason someone needs a hand-gun... And don't just say "to protect themselves". That's bullshit. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  21. Awesome, thanks man. Judging by the mass amount of replies to this thread, I might start to think that I'm the only person obsessed with skydivingmovies.com...but I'm sure there are others out there who would appreciate it's return. Giddy-up. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  22. Probably the wisest comment made in this thread. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  23. Good points I'd say... Your acusations towards the movie have made me do a bit of searching. I've found a site that backs up your side pretty well. I still think it's a wonderful movie, but I'm a lot more skeptical of it's 'truths' now. Thanks man. -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  24. I hope we never hear this story. Awesome post skymama (even though I'm a few years late with that comment). Hope to see ya around someday, you need to hang out with my Mom a bit and switch her up for me! -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
  25. Name a few misrepresented facts and lies. I'm not arguing here, I really don't know. I just watched it today, so I haven't had the chance to dig into it too much. (I'm a Republican...so you don't have to give me the agenda). -Kramer The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
