  1. Hmmmm......the seller offered this slightly used crank for $0.99 and his shipping charge is $1.95 less than the guy in Colorado. As was mentioned before, there may have been an availability problem or the winning bidder just didn't want to spend much time looking for the ~$33 difference.

"So long and thanks for all the fish."
  3. Hope it wasn't a CF. You'd have to evacuate the building and call HazMat.
  4. Wow! after looking at that picture it makes you wonder how she has ANY descendents. Maybe they had tequila or Jack back then, too.
  5. Sunset load a few years ago. Yep, it was a lemming jump. 10 or 12 of us and only one looked down during freefall. He opened high and landed only 2 miles out. Got an "Oh Crap!" feeling while looking at the sunset over the DZ on the horizon after opening.
  6. I've seen those wipe-out videos of racing boats. Always think to myself, "fuck what a ride, but damned if I'm going to do it!" like this? That's it! Flying death traps if you ask me. and this was one of the slower, tamer, "entry-level" classes. (maybe mid-60's up to about 70-mph-on-a-good-day top end)

  8. a toy from long ago when my body was able to take a beating.
  9. It's not a redneck vehicle unless it has rust spotsduct tape/chicken wire or wire coat hanger and/or bondo patches. fixed it for you Yeah! and where is the 8' stainless steel CB whip antenna bent over and tied to the rear view mirror? Huh? If it was really a redneck truck it would be "bullfrogged" or "bulldogged", or whatever is in style now. And don't forget the confederate battle flag in the back window, biatch!
  10. You know what they say about assumptions, John. There's way too much kick ass music in SF this weekend for me to leave. I was sad to miss it last year. I will be spending three glorious days in Golden Gate Park listening to an amazing array of talented musicians. Did I mention that it's FREE? Wow! What a lineup. Looks like my CD collection. Lessee: Jorma K., Laurie Lewis (great bluegrass voice on Blue Rose Band CD), Nina Gerber (great backup guitar on Kate Wolf's albums), Eliza Gilkyson, Emmylou, REKing, Kevin Welch, Chieftains, M.Faithful, Richie H., just to name a few! Wow, again!....and the price is right too.
  11. Once, on a slow swing shift, 4 of us controllers were sitting around swapping flying, controlling, fishing, jumping stories. I finished one of my humorous, interesting (I thought) jump stories, then the guy next to me said "Well, I've got a story, and this one's true!" Ouch. I realized (A) he's an asshole and (B) my whuffo coworkers can't really understand what my sport is like. Since then I've really cut back on talking much about it. Just easier that way. Yep! That was my point. With only 30 jumps you're so excited about every one of them that you think you have to tell anyone and everyone about them. After a while you realize that whuffos generally don't give a damn about your skydiving stories. (I made 'em listen anyway, and once in a while I made them sit through a video.)
  12. How many skydiving stories can you have with 30 jumps? I have 1 story and I have more than double the numbers, if your profile is correct. What am I doing wrong??? When you have 30 jumps you have 30 stories.
  13. I like #1 except the nucleus needs to be a probability cloud too. #2 is good too but you could say you scaled it UP 1000000 times. It's in there ---honest! Now it's up to teacher to prove a 1M x oversized model of a single vanadium atom is NOT in the box! But, true to the whole concept of the project: maybe it is, maybe it isn't is! Just ask the cat.

from one of my favorite flicks.... Vinny Gambini: How could it take you five minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes?
  15. Used to have one in the house. Never again.
  16. The discussion that led up to their agreement on how to transport these items might have been interesting. I would like to have heard some of the rejected plans.

Everybody always forgets that she says his name first. (Kind of a "helloooo, meester robot? Wakee, wakee." ) "Don't take any guff from these swine." I think Klaatu was the alien/human. The robot's name was Gort. In the original (which actually makes sense), the woman is visibly scared. She says the robots name and pauses to swallow before continuing. "Gort... Klaatu barada nictu". If people have only seen the new "Whoa!" version of the movie, few can tell where the name of the movie came from, even though it is central to the plot of the movie. Leaving "Gort!" off of that quote is kinda like leaving "Houston" off of the quote "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed!."

  19. Ask the boys at De La Salle HS.
  20. My old high school is off to another kickass season after beating De La Salle High School in Concord, CA last night ...31-30 in overtime. Naughts scored first in overtime and De La Salle elected to go for 2 after scoring and failed. http://www.lakelandfootball.com/homepage.html

"...... a Roman toga party was held, from which we have received two dozen reports of individual acts of peversion, so profound and disgusting, that decorum prohibits listing them here. These are the charges recorded this day, November 15, 1962." ~Niedermeyer "As of now they're on double secret probation!" ~Dean Wormer.
