  1. Hey All, Just got off the phone with Vic at Byron. The King Air should be back in service this weekend. They are actually aiming to get it back for Friday evening. Now Saturday looks kind of bad for weather, but Sunday is looking real good, so if you were planning to come out to Byron this weekend, that's the day to do it. I'll be getting my group together for that day. It'll be the last weekend Byron will be open this year, and obviously the last weekend before the gorgefest that is Christmas next week. Hope to see you all there ! Let's have a good one to round out the year.
  2. Not for want of trying though. Sorry, couldn't resist. I still have the gouge in my helmet to remind me of the good times.
  3. And he looks very handsome in it too it must be said. He must surely be a prince amongst men. Having said that, if it's a choice between the Hercules Boogie and Espace, then AFAIC Hercules wins it every time. Cheaper, bigger, better, little or no politics and greater parties. That's the good thing about a boogie that's run by a club, rather than as a business. That's not to say that Espace isn't a great boogie too, but the Swedish Herc Boogie is a very rare and precious thing. We should support it every way we can. Where else you gonna jump from a C130 with free organizers and video for $15 ? Did I mention the naked women ? Well I have now.
  4. I just got off the phone with Vic. The King Air isn't going to be ready for this weekend, but if people get there early enough, i.e before 11:00 a.m., they will get in the Beech 99 for us. We need to be there early though, not roll up at 2:00 p.m. and moan about there not being enough aircraft support. We'll need about 20 people there by 11:00 to get the Beech. Saturday is looking good for weather, and I'll bring out my usual crew so the let's do it.
  5. Why not ? The dime is worth nothing today, so it seems appropriate for him.
  6. Huh. Newbies. Back in my day we couldn't afford aircraft. We had to blow ourselves to altitude with dynamite.
  7. I just did some tunnel time last week. I have over 136 hours of real free fall and a couple of national medals in 4 and 8 way (albiet some years ago), and it taught me more in 15 minutes than I could have learned in literally hundreds of dives, about centering my turns correctly. I like the fact that the airspeed is constant in there, and that forces you to maintain correct body position to stay centered. I would definately reccomend it, along with a good coach to adjust your position real time. That 15 minutes has given me a lot to work on in the future, that's for sure.
  8. Maybe I am spoiled then. At my home DZ, whenever ANYBODY landed off, it was a priority to find them no matter what. I have gone out looking for people that i had never spoken word one too. I think it is pretty sad that some peoples attitudes are "just deal with it" Sorry to say but that is how people get hurt. It is one thing if someone lands 100 yards off. But for a jumper to land 2 1/2 miles off and not one person be concerned is pretty pathetic in my mind. Simple then. Take your business elsewhere. There, see how easy that was ?
  9. Nonsense. I tell people to go to hell all the time. By the way, I was once told by a Catholic Priest that prayer was anser to all life's problems. I tried praying for God to fix the transmission on my car. Did he fix it ? Did he fuck. It wouldn't go into reverse after that. Your god might know a lot about many things, but he knows fuck all about late 1970's Volkwagen transmissions. But I digress. I should have just been happy that priest didn't ask me to check under his cassock. They're a bit like that you know.
  10. Dang, wrongway, if she had also said something about conservative American politicians she could have reduced Gareth to apoplexy in attempting to respond to your post. Just the organized religion thing got him misspelling. Nonsense. I reserve the purity and depth of my disdain for all religious conservatives, not just American ones. I'm also too lazy to use the spell checker.
  11. Dude. She already believes in non-existant supernatural entities, and is therefore starting off from a position of self-induced stupidity. Added to the fact that she's a prude, you're not only never going to get to bang her, you're also never going to get the soft headed cow to shut up. Tell her to go tell her inaginary friends about you.
  12. Correct. This properly places the blame where it belongs. I feel the other poster was improperly expanding the scope of his attributions, to say that because of the pay problem, the entire was was unjustified. It is. Mind you, if it takes this administration down eventually, it will have had some value.
  13. It's the Beech 99 from Lodi. That's where the Super Otter will come from too if there's enough interest.
  14. You know, I'm trying to find something to object to here, but there's not much to get angry about.
  15. OK All, Probably most of you know about the engine failiure on the King Air at Byron last Sunday, and the skill of the pilot there in getting everyone out OK and getting the plane back down OK, so I won't go into it here. However, I've just talked to Connie at BAS and Byron will have the Beech 99 from Lodi this weekend as a definate plane. What she would like to know is how many people are planning to jump at BAS this weekend. If enough people are planning on coming anyway, we can upgrade to a Super Otter for the weekend. I think the forecast is good right now, and there won't be too many more good weekends before the end of the year, so make a plan to come out if you can, and please give Connie a call at (925) 634 7575 to let her know so she can get the Otter if needed. It would be nice to turn something bad into something a little good here. I'll be out there organizing for all the flat flyers come Saturday morning. Gareth Holder
  16. Really ? then it was a good one, because I agreed with every last part of it.
  17. No I don't. I hold on to it. I can't be bothered to wear it. There you go.
  18. This is true. I'm also someone who doesn't want to have to land in the grape stakes at Lodi and have one of them supply me with a second asshole too. It's not as if it's nice wine either. Lodi is the Zinfandel capital of Northern California. You show me a man who likes white zinfandel, and I'll show you a man that likes musical theatre and is interested in interior design.
  19. I loved being married. I was glad when I'd had enough though. I'm not doing it again. I'm just going to find someone I can't stand and buy them a house instead. It'll be quicker.
  20. You big girly. I was tracking off on the same ring as you, pulled at the same height, and made it back to the landing area both times. You need to haul that fat ass up on the rear risers, pull the slider down, and undo the chest strap to the fullest. That'll get you the extra mile. Having said that, the 60 way went very well. I designed it with no spare slots and no bench. We went to do it with the people we had, and it all came off rather nicely. I'm already designing the 80 way sequential that we'll move up to next.
  21. Simple. Mind your own business. If you don't like it, don't deal with them. Sticking your nose in that kind of a situation is asking to get it busted.
  22. I personally have found them too frgaile and innacurate for continued use. I use Alti III wrist mounts. They are accurate and bulletproof in my experiance. They are also expensive, but you get what you pay for.
  23. As I said in another post on this thread, this matter had nothing to do with Sunrise Rigging. Both Sunrise and Sunpath provide rigs to Skydive City. The request for Cathy's termination appeared to come from Sunhine Factory, the gear retailer on the drop zone, whose owner is also a part owner of the drop zone. You would have to ask Cathy about that though. It's an important distinction.
  24. Well, as the previous manager of Skydive City - Z Hills, and a dealer for the Wings container, I can shed some light on this. Firstly, let me state that Cathy was apparently commenting on a bad sale decision, and not on the construction, safety, or reliablity of the Wings system. She felt that someone had been misinformed about what canopies could be reasonably and safely expected to fit in a certain sized container. At no point did the Wings company themselves get involved in that discussion, as it really had nothing to do with the rig itself. Joannie Murhphy of Sunshine Factory is a part owner of the DZ, and it may be worth asking if the rig in question was supplied by her compnay with the larger canopy installed. If that is the case, then Cathy's comments may have been construed by her as an attack on the standards of customer care from her business, and provoked her to demand Cathy's removal. I can't attest to that though, but I do know from my time as manager there, that if a DZO tells you to throw someone off their property, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. I wish her well though in her future travels, and I'm sure we'll see her back there one day.

    Holy war

I think her husband did that more than anyone! I think that Bill Clinton has the lying to congress thing covered. You should probably get over that whole Clinton thing. He lied about a blow job, now he's gone, and furious consevatives everywhere miss him. They really don't have anybody good to get annoyed about until Hillary runs for the job. The Shrub in the White House now, has way more problems. His deception of the US Congress is costing a US serviceman's life a day on average right now. If you think that's not going to come back and bite him on the ass, just look at the career of LBJ.
