Bandwidth is the commodity item while disk space is something that most will charge a premium for. That could be done with a file locker, depot, call it what you will . . . Agreed that it's not a one direction effort, however it does seem to be the one that gets the most press. Is this simply poor marketing by those exploring alternatives to hydrogen? Regardless, since hydrogen is getting all of the press these days how much money will be thrown at it when in fact it's likely a better investment to fund other avenues. Have you looked at solar? It is amazingly expensive. Of course it's likely, like every other technology, to become more efficient and drop in price. This is where --I'd-- like to see the money spent.
