  1. Absolutely I remember that article. If I'm not mistaken that article was inspired by an event at CK which resulted in a low reserve pull/cypres fire. PJ was really pretty good when it came to safety. I recall one day quite a few years ago when he was running the packing mat and noticed that a visiting jumper's reserve risers were frayed. PJ pulled her aside, explained what he had found, offered a few opinions as to how it might have happened and if I recall correctly suggested that she stay on the ground until that problem was fixed. I'm not sure that many other packers would have noticed something like that - granted, that was more than a few hundred jumps ago for me, but I didn't think that it exactly jumped out. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 2. And your insurance rates, and mine, and our neighbor, and the guy in the next town, and . . . . See where that one goes? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. I don't have anything to add here, the skydiving community has done a pretty decent job at summing up PJ and I think that's nice to see. Hopefully the honest words in this thread can bring comfort to his wife, Donna, and to everyone else who knew and loved the man. PJ, you were my friend and I'll miss you profusely. Take care, my friend. I'll see you on the other side. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. I thought that the US invaded Iraq on the basis of supporting terrorism and possessing weapons of mass destruction. No, I don't think so. The UN was ineffective in Iraq just as they are ineffective in Lebanon. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. I'm not at all desparate for Israel to be right in all that it does. My post was a jab at that giant paper tiger, the UN. It was also a bit of a non-sequiter. However, I can't help but think that this wouldn't be going on had the UN actually enforced resolution 1516 (I think that's the correct resolution). - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 6. What's embarrassing, I think, is that through yet another failure of the UN, Hezbolla hasn't been disarmed/dismantled. What have these guys been doing? Sitting by and watching these bastards re-arm? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  7. I momentarily confused the two. I have since seen the error of my ways. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. > ?? Not really. I guess you're right. I always assumed that more compression meant more air, and therefore more fuel. I'm googling now for adjustable compression ratio vehicles, but do you know what the premium for such technology is? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  10. I never said that. You took quite a leap to get there, did the landing hurt? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. It may generate more power at a higher compression ratio, but economy will go into the toilet, will it not? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  12. It came from this article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4314898.stm and it doesn't actually say that the person in the photo is being used as a human shield. It's likely what the press calls stock footage or a stock photo. Now, that said, I won't deny that the Israeli's have never done that - the article makes it quite clear that they have. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. Come on, in the first picture it looks as though they're arresting/detaining somebody - not hiding behind him. Surely you can see that. It's better than a simple execution, wouldn't you agree? The second picture, well, without context it looks pretty foul. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. And now, the article you've linked to (just in case some people don't click the link): A child with a realistic looking weapon shot in a warzone, who'd have thunk it? Perhaps if the Palestinian fighters had the courage to wear a uniform and not enlist children to do their dirty work the soldiers wouldn't have been so quick to shoot. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 15. Playing the 'look at the bad pictures' game is a silly exercise in tit for tat that leads nowhere. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. Cool. I was hoping that you'd comment on this. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. Found this in Car and Driver magazine a few days ago and thought that it was interesting. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/11174/tech-stuff-ethanol-promises.html - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. If given the chance? Are you kidding me? Tell me, Darius, just who is that is FORCING the Palestinians to hide behind women, children, and the infirm? Who is it that is FORCING the Palestinians to blow up busses and cafes full of civilians? Given the chance? As I skydiver I thought you might understand and even embrace the concept of personal responsibility. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  19. Care to address the 'human shields' argument? And you really could use a more realistic view of what the Palistinian terrorists are doing. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  23. Did you have a problem when we (the US) bombed Afghanistan back into the stone age after 9/11? Do you believe that Israel should not retaliate when either (A) provoked or (B) attacked? Or do you believe that it should be one for one? Example: "They" kidnap one Israeli soldier, Israel kidnaps one of theirs? "They" lob a missle at an Israeli population center, Israel lobs one into one of 'their' population centers? "They" send a homicide bomber into a crowded cafe, Israel retaliates in kind. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  24. Unfortunately they won't be removed (or at least destroyed) by force. Force will weaken them and force them to scurry back into their respective holes for a few years, but they'll be back. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  25. I just can't help but think of this when I read your post: Let me explain to you how this works: you see, the corporations finance Team America, and then Team America goes out... and the corporations sit there in their... in their corporation buildings, and... and, and see, they're all corporation-y... and they make money. - Tim Robbins F.A.G. Thanks for the laugh.
