  1. My personal opinion is that that depends on two things: * Your 'natural ability'. In this sport as in others, some people just get it while others have to work harder. You'll have to decide which category you fall into. * Currency. Making more jumps more often can only make you better at this sport. It's called training and is necessary for everyone, even those with a natural tendency towards the sport. I'm planning (weather permitting) on making approximately 35 to 40 jumps a month over the summer. That's expensive, I know, but I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it. Hell, what's money if you can't spend it! It's probably going to be a while before you're ready for AFF. I believe, and I could be wrong, that you need a minimum of 500 jumps before you can even take the course. You shouldn't worry about this for now. As far as flying video for tandems you'll have to talk with the other camera flyers at your DZ. They can help you with training, equipment, technique, etc... As mentioned above, it's all about training, and the only way to train is to jump (or spend time in the tunnel). My advice, budget as much as you can afford and jump as often as you can.
  2. Wow. That's really bad. I take it the DZO gave this guy a health chewing out?
  3. I wonder what the SIM says about jumping within 1 mile of an active volcano? I'd hate to be the victim of a bad spot at that DZ!
  4. This is the 'accepted answer', and probably the best one you'll get. I'm assuming that since you're asking this question you're still fairly new to the sport. That said, you really need to talk with your jumpmasters about canopy choice, they know you're abilities and shortcomings better than anyone here and maybe even better than you. With regards to a container, Javelin, Vector, Mirage, and Wings all make a nice product. Thinking about it, I'm sure almost any new container on the market today will be suitable for you. You'll have to be measured to determine which harness size is right for you. So, to sum it up, talk with the folks at your DZ - they're the best qualified people to help you with this decision. - Jim

    AFF ? for all

In an ideal world, with ideal weather, and perfect jumps you could probably finish AFF in 3 days. In reality though this almost never happens. AFF students need to wait for instructors, instruction time, and almost perfect weather. A more realistic expectation might be 2 weeks to one month if you're really determined.

    Ohio Dropzones

It looks like I'm going to end up in Ohio pretty soon and I'm looking for info on Ohio dropzones. With over 1500 registered users I'm certain that someone is from the Buckey state. So, here's your chance to sound off about your favorite Ohio DZ or complain about those that you might think deserve it.
