I jump in England and I think that camera is called an F65 over here. If so its an entry level SLR that i don't think will be of much use. The main reason is that there is no where to plug in an electronic shutter release - you have to use the mechanical screw in option which i wouldn't like to use in freefall. Nikon have done this with a lot of their newer models. Also i think the Flash sync is down to 1/90th, certainly no quicker than 1/125th. The velocity seems to be more radical than the FX (i've never jumped a VX), dives for longer and swoops further. I thought the velocity had a lighter front riser pressure (comparing FX109 with Ve 111). Openings wise I have only jumped 1 FX (a 109) and it opened quite nicely - perhaps a little quickly. I have jumped various velocities (120 - 96) and they've all opened OK, certainly accetable for camera jumping which is my main thing. I have heard various people comment on bad openings associated with the VX - I've never jumped one so can't comment. I think in an ideal world if you ultimately want to be jumping a Velocity or VX then you would consider doing a lot of jumps on a FX as a stepping stone along the way. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Basically you're talking about wide angle lenses. Wide angle lenses have a conversion factor of less than 1 (tele photo are greater than 1) and the lower the number the wider the lens so in your example the 0.3 should be wider than the 0.43. I have found that for me a 0.5 is a good all rounder and typically lines up well with a 24mm still lens. Also good for RW as its not really wide so you can get very steep on the formation while still filling the frame. Obviously the wider the lens the closer you have to be, thats just practice! I would advise you not to look at the price but spend the extra and get what you really want. If you really want an Odyssey then buy one rather than the cheaper container and forever be thinking "its nice but i wish it was an odyssey!" Hi William, I got lucky with the $$, filming a 4 way team at Deland this year and they let me have free tunnel time inbetween them! (probably did 2 hours wearing my camera suit) I posted a question about this in the freeflying forum. Wearing my camerasuit I'm comfortable doing anything in sit. put me in a freefly suit though and i tend to drift toward whatever i look at and really struggle to move backwards without almost tracking away!! What works better; back risering or absolutely nailing it without back risers? When i was in deland in April i noticed that Rickster wasn't back risering at all and to me he seemed like the best canopy pilot there and also seemed to go the furthest (there were a lot of good people there!!) The best thing you can possibly do is go in the wind tunnell in your camera suit. You will crack it in half an hour or less. If you are moving backwards i would suggest that you are letting your feet rise above your head too much. Have a look at the pic i've (attempted to ) attach. It shows Rickster Powell flying on his back with a FS formation (at Vichy). He's only wearing a freefly suit and is staying still with that weird almost daffy like leg position. it tends to be a fairly fast movement because there is some slack to take up. I work on nailing the turn everytime before thinking about rear risers http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Haven't tried it on my stiletto mike but Brian Vacher does on his 107 and he says "it rocks". My own opinion is that on a canopy such as a velocity, Xaos etc you start the turn much higher and have more time to set yourself up. On one of my early attempts on my Xaos i fumbled for the risers twice before aborting and going to toggles and it was no drama! On a stiletto i don't think you would have as much time and the whole process would be a bit rushed because you turn so much lower. A friend of mine does a very aggressive front riser 180 on his Velocity 90. He nails it every time. After hes'd done the turn though you can see the speed bleeding off him as the canopy is plaining out, people who carve seem to be keeping much more of that speed lower down and generally seem to go further - this is how it appears to me anyway! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Left 180 carve or so i thought until i wore a belly mount camera and was really surprised to see the horizon disappear behind the canopy!! Xaos21-108 loaded at 2.1, 300 jumps on this canopy - 2300 in total. If you watch Pier medias 'Swoop' video there is an interview with Drew Lipinski who is saying that people are moving back away from the carve to the hook - although the carve is still useful. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

I think you have to ask yourself what is the purpose of your video. Ultimately in this case its a training aid so does it really matter if its 3 chip or not?
