  1. Hi, I have heard conflicting reports about the fast flash capabilities of this camera with the EX550 (i think) flashgun. Is anyone using this combination and what will it synch to? Many thanks, gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  2. A friend of mine was in Z Hills recently and asked for a Vengeance 120 demo. All was fine until he opened up and it was a Velocity 120. Conclusion of story is he loved it and I think hes about to order one! Now thats aggressive selling! (he has 1000 jumps, weighs 205 lbs and is currently jumping a Sabre2 135 which he swoops very nicely) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  3. 'Nikon today announced that it is "working on" a new budget priced digital SLR, the D70 and a new complementary DX lens. From the hints given in the 'development press releases' it's fairly easy to come to the conclusion that this camera will be fully announced at PMA 2004 and should hit the stores shortly afterwards. Considering its "budget price" and considering the current competition I will make a wild guess that the D70 will be based around the D100 engine with the same six megapixel sensor. Styling hints however do appear to be taken from the D2H. Body only price of the D70 is expected to be $999 (in the US) or € 1,100 (in Europe).' Taken from www.dpreview.com today I just hope its got a socket for an electronic shutter release! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  4. Many thanks for all that. I've found that by turning off smart render i don't get the problem - as soon as this project is finished i'm going to try all the other things u have suggested. Thanks again, gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  5. Very useful thanks... http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  6. Gustava Cabana uses a D100 with the grip and gets great results. The grip in the UK is £249 though! I want a digital nikon because all my kit is nikon but I'm starting to wish i'd bought canon in the first place! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  7. I keep getting the message 'Runtime error, abnormal program termination' when trying to create a video in mediastudio pro V6. Anyone got any tips? I've contacted ulead but no help yet. Cheers! PS i don't know my arse from my elbow when it comes to computers... http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  8. I have 2 javs - one with all rings and one without. I think the one without has better harness turns. From a comfort point of view i don't feel any difference in the air but slightly more comfortable on the ground and in the plane. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  9. I'd go for the C wing - very versatile and well built. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  10. There was another cool feature on the original PC7. The remote control could toggle between 3 different settings (called VTR2, VTR4 and ID) so you didn't effect everyone elses camera when you controlled your own. Sony didn't carry this one on either - all later cams are VTR2 as far as I'm aware. Ahh the good old days... http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  11. Try this. do a fairly aggressive front riser 180 (above 1500 ft) and see how you feel in the harness. You should still feel heavy in the harness, all your lines are still under tension. Now do a 180 toggle turn (above 1500 ft). You will probably feel light in the harness. Your lines aren't under as much tension and if you need to flare now (to dig out of the corner) it won't be as efficient. This is not to say that you can't hurt yourself doing a riser turn though! Its just that if you are too low you will have a better chance of saving yourself. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  12. Hi Andy, Haven't used it but have heard that anything above ISO 200 is crap and 200 is only just OK. I think its basically a digital F80 so will only flash synch to 1/180 http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  13. Yes i was on the GB team. Chris came 18th with 2 personal bests in distance. No XL guys were there. Some people were doing 360s. They seem to almost fly a classic accuracy approach to their set up point then do a 360. Jay Moledski was doing 450's, i suppose its the same theory as doing a 270 with the perpendicular approach. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  14. I've recently got back from the world cup at Perris. I think i was about the only person in Ultra doing 180's! As the wind started to pick up i found it more difficult to hit the gates. I ended up 50th out of 51! I'm definately switching to 270's before i do another competition for the reasons you mention. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  15. Precision sorted this out for me at no cost to me. The replacement is fine. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  16. I have the C wing on a short suit not a jacket. I love it. Its great for sit / back flying and mine seems to be lasting forever! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  17. I use an alti 2 as a BACK UP to what my eyes are telling me. The weekend before last my alti was reading 1000ft but my eyes were telling me to start my swoop. I did my swoop and landed and my alti was still reading 1000ft. Basically i will start my swoop on whichever tells me first ie eyeball or alti. Altis are particularly useful at a new DZ. Have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  18. Its all a question of having the right tools for the job. Tony make a C wing camera jacket - i use something similar and its great. Wings and lead is a good option for the lighter cameraflyers because it gives such a big range of fall rates. A lot of people who wear just a baggy suit seem to be doing it because they thing its cooler - they don't need wings to fly etc etc. Just remember you are judged on the final video - not what you were wearing to film it! have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  19. I really like the way he doesn't totally complete the turn until hes sure hes over the top of the hangar - it looks to me like hes keeping the right hand side of the hangar as an 'out'. Good example of continually assessing your approach! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  20. Just looked at your pic. Please stow your excees brake line! Thats a potential snag right there. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  21. I have 2 javelins which are identical except 1 has all rings and one has none. I cannot tell the difference! If anything i prefer the one without - especially for harness turns when under canopy. I would spend the difference on extra jumps! have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  22. I've just come back from the Espace Boogie in France and Willy Boekyins was using a 10D with a sigma 15mm with superb results http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  23. The education section on PD's website is excellent. Sorry i don't know how to make it clicky http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  24. i'm 225 out of the door and jump a C wing with no problems. Remember though its a team effort between your self and the Tandem instructor. If you are sinking out a bit ask them to put the pace on a bit to help you out. (Unless of course they are very new - then they have enough stuff to deal with!) have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  25. Some camera suits are better than others for this. The Tony C wing is excellent. The difference seems to be if the wing is attached to the front of the arm rather than the seam. I weigh 205lbs and sit fly with a C wing all the time http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
