  8. "Henri Pohjolaninen owner and designer of the Wings, Aided in the Original Javelin Design. (to what degree I have no idea)" in a Finnish aviation magazine(Ilmailu, 2/94), it was said that in 1986 Henri (aka Hena) with Mike Furry started to develop a new harness/container what would be called Javelin,Henri concentrated on r&d and making test jumps, Mike was taking care of paperwork etc, in 1988 TSO was received. But they had disagreements about how to proceed with the project, for example Mike was selling Javelin protoypes abroad before they had TSO, Henri didn´t like that, because it might ruin Javelin`s reputation.... so one morning in 1988 Henri went to work, to find out locks had been changed, and all the stuff had been taken..... in the end Derek Thomas bought Sun Path.... well, thats basically what the magazine said....

  10. "[dons geek hat] Goose should not have been killed. The F-14 he was in was in a flat spin, which would have spun the cockpit out from under the canopy, leaving Goose free to eject into clear air. [removes geek hat]" well, i found this "accidentally" on the web: Actually, they way Goose died was based on some fact. During the development and flight testing of the F-14, it was determined that in a flat spin, there would be considerable "dead air," just above the F-14 (remember, it is spinning and coming straight down). As a result of an ejection, the canopy would tend to hover above the F-14 (several feet, not just a few inches). Thus, when the aircrew ejected, the canopy would go, and then one second later, the RIO would go, and possibly hit into the canopy, with the ejection seat rocket still firing. Procedures were put into place, for any ejection, that the aircrew should first jettison the canopy (via the canopy jettison handle in the cockpit), and then pull the ejection seat handle. This would give the canopy enough time to clear the "dead air" and result in a safe ejection. This was particularly spelled out in the F-14 Flat Spin Emergency Procedures, of which aircrew were requrired to memorize. Only in extremis, were the aircrew to bypass this procedure (eg, about ready to fly into a mountain), but with that, they would risk hitting the canopy. In the movie, such that a layman would understand how Goose died, the canopy only jettisoned a few inches, and Goose went into the canopy (he did not jettision the canopy first, as per procedures). In a flat spin, many times, the pilot (due to outward G forces) cannot reach the ejection handle, and you heard Maverick say something like, "I can't reach the handle..............Eject, Eject...............watch the canopy." This entire sequence was to "simulate" for the moviegoer, the real facts of an F-14 in a Flat Spin, and the fact that one could indeed, eject into the canopy. They just had to make it understandable to the layperson." hmm.....
  11. "thats the same seat that killed Goose!!!" nope, F-14A and B uses this seat http://users.bestweb.net/~kcoyne/mk7seats.htm F-14D uses the NACES seat...
  12. it´s been out for sometime, do a search here

  14. well, iirc he jumped couple of years with it, switched to Wings when it came to market... but, after seeing that rig i´ve been thinking getting one for some time now
  15. well, friend of mine waited 1.5 years(!!) for his Vector 3..... 16 weeks? it´s nothing
