  1. Another good one is when people catch video of their alti when they've been low and then play it in the bar! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  2. Yes William but you've made it more dangerous for us Brits http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  3. No because then the professional footballers would all be on the piss all the time and crime would double http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  4. I've had the same "time out" for about 6/7 years and never had a problem with it. It beeps when its supposed to and thats good enough for me. I always hear it, you don't turn it on/off, you can adjust it on the ride to altitude. It also survived a terminal landing at Ampuria and helpfully bleepd so I could find it! Who cares if you went 120 mph on dive #500 but went 122mph on #501!! So what!! Its very funny when people walk in off the landing area after pulling a little low and the CCI just asks to look at their pro track!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  5. Tony Danbury at Langar does a very professional job on a protec. Only probably is he gets very busy and may not be able to slot u in. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  6. We get a better class of criminal in the UK. They shake your hand after they mug you. Criminals over here have to use more imaginative ways of doing their work as they can't get guns. Just look at Harold Shipman! One of the most prolific serial killers in the world and never used a gun! Bet you can't beat that, 400+ murders and still counting - Carry on Doctor! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  7. He's 6'4" so I don't think its unreasonable to assume that he's been around that weight for a while http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  8. Not all lens are the same. eg my kenko 0.5 is not as wide as my sony 0.6!! The kenko is a good lens but does seem to be a bit narrower than other 0.5 lenses. I had a vivanco 0.5 that I was really happy with - it lined up almost perfectly with a 24mm still lens, the Kenko 0.5 is a bit narrower than the 24mm still lens. The Kenko is a great 4-way lens, ie you can get really steep while still filling the frame. Without a doubt the best lens I have owned is a sony 0.45 but I think they stopped making them. Beautifully clear but quite bulky. It really is trial and error. You don't say what you are going to be filming in your post. If you say 4 way I'd say get the kenko. If its 1 on 1 type jumps you will want something wider. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  9. Have you tried manually setting the shutter speed on your 900's? A friend did it and never had a problem (not sure what he set it to) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  10. I think the point that Skydiven4fun is trying to make is why is he having these problems now when he's done many jumps on a highly loaded canopy before without problems. I tried to make the same point about my Xaos. I have 1400 jumps on stilettos loaded at 1.7 - 1.9 and never cutaway and extremely rarely had line twists. In 300 jumps on my Xaos (loaded at 2.1) I've chopped it 4 times because of line twists - and yet there is a full page advert saying its the best opening canopy they've made! I'm not saying I'm not doing something wrong - but wouldn't i have had a problem on a highly loaded stiletto? (lots of people don't like stiletto openings and PD certainly don't claim that the openings are fantastic!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  11. Anybody got any comments about JC's progression. Particularly interested in those with less than 500 jumps with a X braced canopy? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  12. Hi Gus, Best thing I've used is 'tiger balm', they sell it in the supermarket by the wind tunnel in Florida!! Hope you find this useful!!! Seriously though, try and get some - it does the job and you can easily get to the bar because u smell so bad! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  13. Are the imacs easily upgradeable? I only ask since 4 minutes of uncompressed video takes up approx a gigabyte on your hard drive so check your going to have enough space. When I was in the market for a system about 18 months ago I decided against an imac because of the storage capacity. I have an 80Gb hard drive that is used exclusively for capturing video to, i know nothing about computers and was able to fit everything i needed to my machine with no real problems. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  14. Just read your profile - you're hardcore jumping with no reserve... http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  15. Just re-read your post. I don't know if the DV500 will do the dvd burning. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  16. You can get analogue cards - I've never owned one so don't know much about them though. There is a card called a DV500 (made by pinnacle i think) that comes with a cut down version of premiere and can accept digital or analogue input - i seem to remember thinking it was quite expensive (about £500 in the UK) and its quite old now. I haven't used it so I don't know if its any good. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  17. It could be that he didn't actually downsize as such. ie if i put my progression up I'd have about 100 on a stiletto 120 but I've never owned one - just borrowed them on training camps. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  18. Thought this may be of interest to some. Unfortunately it probably won't be of interest to those who should pay attention to it This was JC's progression (he weighs about 205lbs) Manta 240 - 15 jumps, Sabre 210 - 40, Sabre 190 - 100, Sabre 170 - 60, Sabre 150 - 100, Stiletto 150 - 900, Stiletto 135 - 200, Stiletto 120 - 300, FX 115 - 1000, FX 112 - 1000, VX 94 - 1500, Currently done 9000+ jumps According to that he didn't go X braced until 1700+ jumps. He started in '93, not sure when X braces first came out. And i bet he was never bored on any of them! Have fun... http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  19. Well done! I've seen people with a lot more jumps than u panic in that situation and not have a clue what to do. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

    Reserves

The people I know with cheap reserves have never had a reserve ride! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  21. I'd do another 200 - 300 on what you've got so you nail it everytime before getting something new. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  22. I haven't a huge amount of jumps on either (300 on a 21 - 108, 15 on a fx109) i've found the openings to be a bit longer on the 21. Ive been having problems with opening on my 21 but this is probably down to me! (read 'xaos on opening') Main difference again seems to be front riser pressure - much lighter therefore more controllable and easier to adjust through the turn and therefore better swoops. 21 deffinately goes further on the swoop than the fx, again I think this is because the risers are more controllable during the turn. Also I seem to be able to slow it down more before i put my feet down. Hope you find this useful. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  23. Thanks for the packing tips. When I've retrieved my canopy after my cutaways I've never knocked a brake off - i can imagine it would make it pretty exciting! Precision have my canopy for evaluation at the moment - watch this space! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  24. Seems strange that people are nervous about leaving their main over a month but will happily leave their reserves for 4 months - 6 months in the UK! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  25. Trial and error I would have thought mike, then add a bit to allow for further shrinking http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
