  1. henny - by now i'm guessing your D200 has made a few more freefall jumps...
  2. myth busters did part of a show on that... i think the link for it may still be on their discovery.com website the yellow part... not the other part
  3. there's a special on packing bands in isle three
  4. jimmy tavino from frontier, aka... jimmytavino on here flies a D70s. the remote is a pretty simple 3 wire setup that is pretty easy to splice a switch or plug into. the camera has a flash sync of up to 1/500th which will be nice for freefall flash (and fill flash) photography possibilities. otherwise the camera is a pretty good balance between speed and price with good overall results. it's also a marked improvement over some things about the D70. matt
  5. if you've got a PCMCIA card slot pick up a PCMCIA card reader. mine is incredibly fast compared to usb through the camera.
  6. went to college with a guy named.... Justin Case. and no, he didn't have a middle name.
  7. there's also an article about it on http://www.dpreview.com
  8. just trying to figure out where you are at in the process so i can help you click the right buttons. if you double click on that clip in the bin it appears in the source window right? then you should be able to designate which parts you want to go into the timeline by deselecting the appropriate purplish buttons on the left of the timeline label "A1" or "A2" or both. then put your cursor and little blue status line on the begining of the timeline by dragging or click the home key. put your in and out up in the source where you want them with the "I" for in and "O" for out keys. then push the "B" key also known as overwrite and the parts of the clip that are highlighted purple in the timeline buttons will show up on the timeline. if you've already got it all in the timeline you can always enter the overwrite mode little read arrow near the bottom left of the timeline or the apostrophe key on the keyboard. then you should be giving avid the finger with a little finger when you scroll over the timeline. if you click on the part you want to remove it should become highlighted. then you can simply hit the delete key to remove it... just don't forget to get out of the overwrite mode when you're done or it'll change other things you try to move or do later. matt
  9. do you already have the file imported? and is it in the timeline yet or just the source window?
  10. if you look at: www.sonystyle.com click on camera & camcorders then camcorders then mini-dv you will notice that the current models are still for sale through sony PC 1000 and all. though sony is saying that you can pre-order the new models. just thought you'd all like to know.
  11. Far away... lol. that last one to have all four people framed that tightly he has to be pretty much on top of them with the 15mm lens on a full-frame-sensor camera like the 5D nice work... though i'm not a huge canon fan so i think i'd spring for the Nikon D200 first for nearly half the cost. plus i've got a few nikkor lenses within my reach already. matt
  12. i think you should set up a not for profit or other such corporation so you are not left holding the cash, or the liabilities... and have greater credibility in doing so.
  13. i bet we could get more people up to pay if it were to show up at the boogie and be the 3rd or 4th aircraft in addition to a CASA, Twin Otter and Cessna.
  14. do you have the boogie circuit mapped out yet?? make sure to add The Batavia Boogie starting the wednesday after july 4th... july 5th to the 9th.
  15. don't forget someone to fly it and operating/hangering expenses.
  16. thanks...i like the fact that i can pretty easily see where the needles on people's altimiters are. i may just have to get one, but i should wait. $3k for a camera body is a bit of a layout.
  17. any chance you could post a link to some sample shots?? thanks, matt
  18. if it's always at 2 seconds... i'd say work around the problem by adding a 3-5 seconds of black at the beginning of the sequence/timeline so that you don't have the clip in your finished product. matt
  19. very valid arguement... though i guess i should have been more specific. one guy i work with has the FX series with the XLR connectors, the big screen, handle, microphone and such that stick out especially up top. the output options you mentioned are pretty key for people doing double or even triple purposing with their video work.
  20. if you are going to use it for skydiving... take a look at the more expensive one and tell me that you don't think "snagadelic" all those parts that look like they will grab lines make me think of the smaller, lighter, less expensive and far less snagg happpy version. matt
  21. out of curiosity i looked at a place i buy from and the camera that perry is using is going for Price : $ 1,595.00 US now... that's depressing considering i picked up my PC350 for nearly $1500 with an extra battery after tax 14 months ago. here's the link matt
  22. aligning them seems to me to be the hardest part... especially farther away from each other on the sides of the helmet. the top like i've seen still setups for and the one CaTo has from the one post look easier to line up. http://www.harbortronics.com has some still setups for stereo imagery matt
  23. FWIK the difference in some of the conceptus switches that i'm aware of is whether the switch is wired mono or stereo. stereo allows the camera to focus and meter each time you click the switch. mono keeps the thing focusing, but with a nikon you can choose between constant and single focus anyway so stereo switches seem to be the way to go. IMHO. is this what you meant? matt
  24. i've always wondered how many people are out there of their own choosing... or better yet. how many people make a living that way. an example is one lady that lived in my area... over near where my granparents used to live. lots of people new of her and knew her husband passed away. she basically wandered around collecting cans in a shopping cart. i guess she was a pretty nice lady from what people had interacted with her, but never would take any financial or other help from people. turns out that she lived pretty simply. liked the excercise and something to do, but never wanted to spend all the money her husband left for her when he died. i wish i would have kept the articles and stories about her. the other thing i think of is how interesting a sociological or psychological experiment it would be to run a field test with people pan handling or acting the part.
