  1. Dress warmly using thin layers. you don't want to get too bulky; people have died because they weren't able to open due to bigger coats. Also be very careful about your hands. Invest in very warm gloves that don't hinder your sense of touch that much. Before you jump with anything unusual always talk to an instructor about it. And always do some practice touches and muscle-memory rehearsal before getting in the plane
  2. Just to re-iterate what everyone else has said, you need to give us more information about your progression. Filling out your account profile would be helpful. After which, we would be able to give you better advice.

  4. One thing of critical importance when starting to freefly, in your case sit fly is to position yourself perpendicular to the jump run when attempting. This is because you will likely be moving forward or backward without realizing it and it is harder to tell since you don't have a point of reference in the sky. I'm not saying this may have helped avoid this particular situation but it is something that my instructors taught me and it is something I never would have thought of otherwise. Glad nothing happened and it doesn't seem like you passed too close to the tandem either. Blue skies
  5. Snide comments with no logical support? Feel free to study the difference in gun related deaths/violence between the United States and Canada. (Accounting for the difference in population of course) "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  6. We like being able to take care of ourselves as individuals. It was written into our constitution and some of us still like it that way. It's kind of insulting to your country that you refer to a constitution written 225 years ago implying that nothing has changed in our society. Really shows a lack of evolution IMHO. 7. Does nobody see a problem with this mindset? What if guns were less accessible by ALL? Would that not have a greater effect at stopping shooting rampages than if guns were easily accessible by all? The United States needs to take a good look at their gun laws and compare them to a country like Canada. 8. All of your jumps with instructors should be filmed free of charge. This will help with the de-briefing of your jump and finding out what you can improve/what you did right etc. As for your solo jumps there is no way to have them filmed unless you chose to pay for a camera man which is mostly useless in my opinion. Blue skies
  9. How do you safely turn your canopy (10-20 degrees) after having started flaring on final approach? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  10. How many jumps do you have on a 190? How much do you weigh? If you were to consider downsizing shortly, I would suggest buying a 150 perfect fit container, buying a used 170 and fitting it in there, then you`ll be able to downsize to a 150 and eventually a 135 on the same container. (I think) Otherwise you can always sell the discount haha "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  11. Haha that's my mentor at my home DZ "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  12. The spider seems interesting but I don't have much experience diving in larger groups, I usually solo/2-way and I've only ever done one of each 5-way and 7-way track dives; no experience in group formations lol "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  13. Could anyone explain the "dancing spider"? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  14. Alright definitely going to do a Mr. Potato Head jump :D + a rubik's cube one possibly a high pull I did want to do a naked for my 100th but maybe I could do that now and do a Mr. Bill for my 100th :D rodeo would be nice (experience required?) I'll try and get a girl for a kiss pass :P (maybe 2 birds with one stone with the naked jump haha?) Thanks a bunch so far guys, great ideas! 15. Sounds pretty cool, I'd have to clear that one with my DZO first though
  16. It's my birthday this coming weekend and I plan on making fun jumps all day long!! I would like to know if anyone has any crazy/fun/awesome ideas for fun jumps! (Solo, 2-way, group) Anything from exits, to freefall, to canopy, to landing! I want to here all of your ideas, silly or not I've started myself a list but I know there are plenty of things that I haven't thought of! Don't worry about giving me ideas that may seem beyond my skill level (within reason), as I always consult with instructors and the DZO at my dropzone before trying new things and have the ability to swallow my pride and not do something that I believe is beyond my abilities!

  18. Is this serious? Seems like there are many things that could go very wrong... "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts

  20. Any ideas for fun solo exits out of a caravan? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  21. If I may chime in with a question, what is considered a turbulence generator? How can one be spotted? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  22. What if he's working at the bomb squad? Then he doesn't need to 'press 9' for an outside line! Genius response haha! "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  23. Re-read the OP. He's talking about under canopy, not in freefall. Freefall doesn't last very long, so the effects of my theory would have lasted into the canopy ride as well; regardless, like I said, it was just a guess!
