  1. Hey! You there! Wait a minute, before you start your solo progression which gives us relatively low profit, please complete 3 tandems
  2. Merit of doing the barrel roll aside.. Any jumper that's participating in a head-up formation should be able to properly execute a barrel roll, am I wrong? As to whether or not it is appropriate, I don't feel it's necessary and should be at the discretion of each individual jumper. When tracking away from a formation, you are responsible for what is below you and to each of your sides. Anyone who is above you is clearly not in the right place and should be there responsibility to GTFO. 3. Ummmm,,why? LOL! What does Canada have that the most power country in the world doesn't? Come to the mid west! We have all year round jumps! Free healthcare. Oh and by the way, the US is now far from the top of the list of the most powerful countries in the world. China owns the states "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  4. If you would all just stop arguing, I think it would be a good idea to indentify why this conversation is being held as opposed to measuring dicks. It's blatantly obvious that there is one root cause to this whole pointless argument. 'Buying a rig while halfway through AFF' It's just not a good idea... 5. Aww... the title of this thread was misleading "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  6. Really? Where did you get that information? +1 Was just thinking that when I saw your post. What a waste of two posts I said 'generally'. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  7. SkyVenture Montreal was mentionned already but it's actually only 25 minutes away from my DZ, Parachutisme Adrenaline St-Jerome!
  8. Looks like we need a new subforum on dz.com The Playground For all you little kids
  9. Karen, how far do you live from a wind tunnel? A 20 minute session at the wind tunnel would definitely give you the confidence you need to move on to higher delays and eventually full-altitude freefall jumps.. 10. They will be very similar in pack volume; but generally riggers prefer packing OPs. I believe the approx. numbers would be: PDR 160 - 364 cubic in. OP 176 - 355 cubic in. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  11. I've always put importance on having a reserve that wouldn't kill/severely injure me in the event that I can't control/flare it (Unconscious/paralyzed). Let's be honest, in the best conditions you could easily and safely land either of those reserves; you need to be thinking about the worst case situations. Note: I don't have any experience under either or any reserve parachute. *(Pro packer/God-like body position on opening)* "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  12. Arrive at DZ -> Jump -> Go home and post pictures on social networking sites = Short term The difference from my point of view is that the short-termers see skydiving as a hobby/activity whereas the long-term jumpers see it as a sport/passion/way of life. It's not for everyone... "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  13. I used to have many dreams like that as well haha Once, I went in with nothing out after a double mal.. Stood up to walk back to the packing area and I was totally pissed off at myself because everyone would be mad at me Another time I chopped my main and popped my reserve and it had holes in it "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  14. I also have a long snivelling moderately loaded elliptical. The long snivel allows me to make up for any small mistakes by putting small inputs to correct it. I've not had anything more than a half twist.. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  15. Do a few hop and pops so you can focus most of your attention to the opening and canopy flight. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're doing with your leg though... are you bringing your left leg in to a fetal position? To solve the left leg issue you can try opening directly after tracking, that way your leg is already pushed out? Some may argue that opening in a track isn't a good idea, but as long as you're not too head-low there's nothing wrong with it
  16. No requirements; Pressurized recommends a minimum of 75 skydives before putting on a Tube 3 IIRC
  17. Definitely possible. Started my AFF on July 10, 2012 and am now at 157 jumps. Just remember: The journey is the destination
  18. I've never asked the question but I would assume that the friction from the stretched bands rubbing against the canopy would create added wear on the canopy. More-so than a rubber band that is not stretched over the canopy. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  19. I also like putting chemicals all over my canopy "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  20. Did 2 prior to AFF Did 1 for a TI's cert and Boobies
  21. Yup, that's what matters. Dude you forgot C, the one that saves you the most money! Come on.... "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  22. news alert homeboy, thats exactly what we do. some of us just do it with style, or while covering miles across the ground. and if youre not having gentle landings, upsize or work on your canopy skills Where do you extract this from anything that I said...? If you want to go be a canopy nazi do it outside of the bonfire. I understand that you perhaps lack the skill to fly your wing properly and perhaps that is why you seem to want to reflect this onto others to make yourself feel better about your lack of knowledge and practical application of canopy flight. Don't worry brother, just upsize and work on your canopy skills. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  23. It's not about that Doug... It's about the thousands of hours, all of the money, the numerous sacrifices that I've made to participate in this sport and to continuously evolve and push myself to get better; all of that. All of that for some people to chalk it up to a crazy, risky suicidal activity that's nothing but a waste of time and money and has no goal. It's aggravating, that's all. It's not about HEY look at me I skydive. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
