  1. As a young'n, am I exempt? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  2. It may be because of my "noob" status but what would be the goal of taking aspirin before jumping? Could you please elaborate more?
  3. I'm pretty sure mjosparky understands what freefall is and is not. What do YOU consider a hop n pop? Pull as soon as you are clear of the plane, 5 sec, 10 sec, as long as it takes to get stable? Only the first option is a hop n pop, which isn't ff, except in the strictest sense that you are not using a static line or equivalent. BTW, I'm glad you aren't bleeding from your nose or ears.

  5. Not sure that you understand the concept of freefall lol, what you're thinking of is terminal velocity. Regardless, I just did a 13,500 and other than a little pressure, everything was fine! 6. I did a sinus rinse and headed to the DZ last night to hang out and I ended up doing a hop'n'pop and everything went fine! No sinus pressure at all during the ascent or the freefall, could hardly notice I had been sick at all. Going to take a chance and go finish up my A training tonight! 7. I think it's time to perform a cutaway and find a nice DZ job "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  8. Welcome, Hope you enjoy your training as much as I did! Update us soon
  9. You missed the "safely" part, didn't you? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  10. What are your opinions on this helmet? Also, can anyone mention a quick list of pros and cons about full-face helmets vs open face helmets? Thanks in advance! "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  11. This may be somewhat of a noob question but what steps are required to safely downsize from a 200 square foot canopy to a 150 square foot canopy? What skills should I master and do I need to downsize by 10 feet squared each time? How many jumps should I expect to complete minimum? I am 5'9" 160lbs, Geared up I am likely around 180lbs. Thanks in advance.
  12. For who? By distracting a tandem student from their own business? By asking them to jack around in their harness near the door while their TI is trying to conduct a safe skydive? Worry about your gear, your handles, your pins, your mindframe, your skydive, and your spot when you're in the door preparing to jump. Sir yes sir! Relax ffs it was just an idea, I am very aware of the fact that I am inexperienced. Doug got the gist of it, no need to continue blasting me for it. 13. Don't let age be the determining factor as to whether or not you should jump! I can guarantee you one thing: you choose to jump; you'll have an amazing time. I've yet to see or hear of someone coming down from a tandem and not having enjoyed the jump! After that you can decide whether or not you want to pursue this as a sport.
  14. I thought of those as well so maybe not for a first jump. But the fun on my part comes from the fact that I made someone else's first jump a lot better! Just an added experience for someone who may never get to jump again.. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  15. I've been thinking lately that it must be fun to allow a first time tandem student to spartan kick me out of the door. It would definitely provide that extra little fun experience to their first jump. Anyone foresee something wrong with this as I'm still inexperienced when it comes to skydiving. 16. If the wings fall of the plane, you have a better chance to jump at 670 ft from it than when you stay in the plane. During my ground school I was tought that if there is a malfunction with the airplane under 1,500 then we are not allowed to bail. 17. Alright, thanks a lot everyone! I'll be sure to speak to my instructors about it as I do with everything new that I want to try
  18. I'd just like to jump in regular clothes on belly-down solo dives for freedom's sake, and of course a naked jump for my first milestone hehe "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  19. How many jumps/what qualifications do you need (or is recommended) to jump without a jumpsuit? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  20. Yes, clearly, but what I meant is a specific event, fatal or not "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  21. ... how could you ever forget how to freefall with stability after 2300 jumps? "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  22. Pretty straight forward, what's the one thing that you hope will never happen to you while skydiving? For example: double malfunction. In my case it would be a problem with the airplane under 1,500ft in which case I would be forced to remain in the plane and hope for the best. "Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way." -Alan Watts
  23. 3 weeks?! I don't know how on earth you'll be able to wait that long I myself did 2 tandems before starting my course as well and the only thing I regret is spending money on an extra tandem when it could have been spent on a few solos! haha, go straight for the course; if you complete it and don't enjoy skydiving (EXTREMELY doubtful) then you'll still have 10 jumps under your belt, stories to tell your friends, and the best 40 minutes of your life! Hope to jump with you some day Blue skies
  24. Find a drop zone, give them a call and tell them what's up, they'll tell you that you'll have to do a little refresher jump with an instructor and from there it's like riding a bike!
