  1. There once was a time in the military (using rounds) where everybody was ordered to wear ankle support. The result was that a lot of bones broke just above the support. Next order: Never wear ankle support. So if you would ski without using them and feel that you have a normal healthy body - you don't need them. Just pay attention to an exact and well trained PLF. This helpes a lot more. Have fun, M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  2. I was a proposal from Germany to put a tax on aircraft fuel in the European Union. To be effective, all member countries of the EU have to agree on that - right now it looks like there are at least 3 - 5 countries which won't support this plan. So - hopefully - it will not happen. 3. If you look for a bed and a shower, the Riande will do. I satayed there for a week but all the other campers moved out after day 1. Probably it has something to do with my military background (any bed is better than none). vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

    Flying advice

I did my private (Single engine land) this summer together with two friends. The one of us who finished first did his checkride with 40.1 hours flight time (40.0 needed) and payed a total of about $ 4200.-- including checkride fees and all the material. We used a Cessna 152, a Cessna learning kit with DVDs and went to the flight school nearly every day. The overal time was 2.5 months. Some other students financed themselves through being a "ramp rat", which means that they worked at the flight school (cleaning planes, helping with whatever was needed). It took me a little bit longer as I used my weekends for jumping instead of flying. You should - like someone mentioned before - at least fly 2-3 times a week in order to not waste time and money. 5. Why do you want to mount it there????? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  6. Hi John! Is this from the plane I think of? If so, it doesn't even take yall a month to break everything apart after I left Say Hi to everybody at the DZ! M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  8. The ceremony just started in Toulouse, France. 5000 guests are attending the unveiling of the largest passenger airliner ever built. Not to bad for "old Europe". vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

    White Gloves

Have you tried golf gloves? The only problem is, that they come single. But in a good sport store they have them also for left-handed people - with the opportunity to select the size individually. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  10. I totally agree on that! In some countries I got a picture in my first week which just was intensified in the weeks/months to follow. I think it's all about interacting and listening. Like someone mentioned above. You can travel to Cuba 10 times a year for a week and just stay in the organized surrounding and you won't get a clue about the real situation there. The more interaction with locals the better the picture. On the other hand you can find assholes as well as fantastic people all around the globe regardless of their nationality. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  11. Hi! I didn't check the Stammtisch so far, so you might have posted there already - just post there in English - you will also get an answer. My home DZ in Germany is in Saarlouis/Düren, which is about a 1.5 hour drive from your base. Last year we had some guys from Rammstein jumping there. A lot of the skydiver speak English. The website is www.fsvsaar.de but it is in German. Right now we do not jump any weekend as it is a bit cold. For more information on that DZ just PM me. There are also some reviews in the dropzones section about the FSV Saar (Which is the club at the DZ). Another source to locate DZ in Germany is skydiver.de. They have an interactive map with information about the DZ. M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  12. Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Monaco, Switzerland, Austria, Italia, South Africa, Namibia, Canada, USA, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and hopefully by the end of this month Singapore and Australia. Watching TV/news isn't bad as long as you try to see different points of view / different sides of the story. What I missed in the US news is the neutral view (that's just how I call it). While news in Europe are normally more neutral and far more often show a critical statement towards the own government decissions it is far more often a pro-US in the US. Also the amount of reports about foreign countries is very small compared to European news coverage. In the last six months, which I spent in the US, it was much harder for me to get news about Europe (through TV) than it is the other way around. On the other hand, this time helped me a lot in better understanding and in part accepting US points of view on some things. M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  14. Do you have a car? During the last camp I stayed in the casino - hotel. It was about 15 min drive towards Elsinore. Room with two big beds $30. So if you share it with 2 or 3 others it is cheaper than the IHOP. The IHOP looked pretty nice but the last times all beds were kind of double used as all the flooded people from the bunkhouse had moved in. M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  17. The 350 is downgraded in some points (less pixel on the touchscreen, for example). There are already some posts about that comparison somewhere earlier in this section. If both cameras have a firewire port, there should'nt be a problem. M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  18. I wouldn't buy any canopy in advance. Normally, you will find a good deal any time that you're looking. To give you an idea of downsizing (even with 75kg which can't really be compared to your weight): I started with 320 sqft (military), changed to a 230 on my first civilian canopy. This step was a huge one for my mind as I thought going down that much in one step would certainly kill me immediately. But as everyone aorund my gave me thumbs up I tried it - and survived. After a couple of jumps on that 230 I switched to a 190 which was the first canopy, where I could feel the reactions of toggle input. Until I finally got the canopy that I jump now (150), I always switched between a 190 and a 170. When I bought the 150, I probably wasn't quit ready for it, so some landings where a little fast in my opinion. Now, after probably 400+ on the 150 I think about going to a 135 or 120. Whatever the jumpers on your DZ tell you, I would go for the advice of your instructor(s) as they normally are more into the newest designs and developments in the market. They should also be more educated to help you making this decision. Someone above mentioned, that you have some quadra canopies at your DZ. That's, from my experience , a good and forgiving canopy to try. Have fun and stay safe, M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  19. From personal experience I think that these things are quite important. A good PLF for example would have saved a lot of bones from being broken. Looking at the wind before a jump and "read" the landing zone is also a skill you get from the static line business. Military freefall jumps with full equipment are also challenging to your skills as this equipment, which can weigh up to your own body weight, also tries to fly it's own path and you need some skills to stop it from doing so. And all my oxygen briefings in the military where at least as good as the civilian ones. So I think, it's quite a lot that you can learn through military jumps. That's why I log them (S/L without freefall time). Regarding the following: I have seen an equal number of military as well as non military jumpers who ignore the advice of more trained people. That is a human and not a military/non military problem. M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  20. Thanks for your answer - and your phrase is exactly my problem with Radir! It always sounds like - but you never know Hopefully I will find someone who speaks portugese to get a fully understandable mail. Do you know, if he also offers his freefly imagem double for the PC 350? M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  22. I normally wear the same stuff, that I use for snowboarding - except for the fullface helmet. Max 2 layers under my jumpsuit, normally 1 fleece or thermal underwear (like underarmour or brynje (Norwegian, very very warm) and 1 layer windstop. Skiing/snowboarding socks. Just with my gloves I am still testing as I don't like a to big layer around my fingers but there are pretty good silk gloves. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  23. Are you still in contact with Radir? Could you post here as soon as the helmet for the 350 is available? Thanks, M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
