  1. I work @ Disney and one of my managers was telling me how the Golden Knights are doing a Demo (either epcot or MGM) thursday I think for the happiest celebration on earth. Has anyone heard about it? It might be wednesday or friday, but I know the big press events are thursday. I think it would be pretty cool to see happen @ disney, seeing that we hardly ever see a plane lower than 10k. 2. I use bearshare and Really have no problem downloading songs. They download quick and bearshare doesnt take up much room on the computer at all "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  3. I love the show... I agree w/ the not answering the phone... no phone, no talking... its just me and 24. Love it. I think that its going to be nuke bombs or something. Marwan was talking to the guy about getting him out of the country, which I would assume would mean that it would be big since the other guy asked him about getting out himself. But like everyone said...who knows.. this show makes you think that you know whats going on when really we all have no idea whats going to happen next "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  4. Im not looking to go there to be the best of the best by anymeans. I figured that since Im a student and Im able to take advantage of financial aid while I can, go for it. Do other just flight schools offer financial aid programs like embry or any other college for that matter would? Thats my biggest issue...Money. If you teach at a school and I can get some good aid there... ill buy you a case and Ill let you jump out of my plane anytime..haha "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  5. I was looking up the different schools online and am gong to visit embry riddle. You go to Ohio for aviation, do you like it? Or does anyone have any advice about embry? Like I said, I live in Orlando, so its only 40 minutes to school. Im in the middle of my second year or third year or something like that and not really declared in the major world. Im really interested in aviation and business, so Im thinking of pursuing an aviation degree in business or something. Thank you everyone who has helped out so far... 6. Im not sure if this is a place to post, but i suppose its a start. I want to get into flying. Ive done a few jumps, but have gained a new found motivation to fly. I talked to a pilot who told me about his training and planes and everything and I want to get into it. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or reccommendations. I live in the central florida area. Are there any good places to go? Specific instructors? Im just looking for single engine, nothing crazy, but I want to fly. Im looking for the most economically feasible way. Im a student who works full time and rough it enough to try and jump here and there. I know overall its not cheap, but I want to try jumping into this. I would appreciate any feed back and all feed back. If your an instructor or pilot and give lessons, let me know. Thank you ahead for anyone who responds. 7. thank you for the first hand perspective. I think IM going to do a little bit in the tunnel, then hit the air again in a few weeks. As far as restarting... do I have to rejump 1 again and take the whole course? And any reccomendations as if I should go back to zhills or give deland a shot? 8. I started Jumping early last year and only have 4 jumps under my belt. (Tandem, 1, fail of 2 and pass of 2). My last jump was back in April I think, so I know Im past my currency. My question is whether I should jump right to the sky or hit the tunnel to get my basics back. I am confident enough knowing the routine and drills in flight, but in terms of getting the actual fell again, would the tunnel be worth while? I live right near skyventure in Orlando, so distance isnt a matter. I started @ Z-hills and now live closer to Deland. Should I go back to Z hills, or Deland? I failed my first shot @ Level 2 and went to the tunnel just for the 2 minute flight to practice turns and they helped me out great...went the next day and had several thousand feet to play around after my jump. Any advice would be awesome. And I know I have to rejump 2, but do I have to start over completely? Im itchy to get back in the air and will be do ing so in the next couple of weeks, but it will take me 2 or 3 months to do the whole course...thank you "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  9. Im in the "middle of aff, but dont have the cash for the rest yet" stage of AFF. I did my first few jumps @ z-hill and i have nothing bad to say about them... They were great with me. I also failed a jump and went to the wind tunnel cause I live right in orlando and it helps out considerably. You dont ahve to invest the $500 in it. I just did a couple of the little 2 minute blocks and told them what I was there for and they gave me some pointers. I plan on continuing my aff at deland in the next few weeks ... i now live about 20 minutes from there and about 90 from zhills. I heard a lot of good about deland as well.. Deland runs a few dollars cheaper, but I cant speak for the instruction. I know zhills was worth it... hope this helped "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  10. I think that starting a college skydiving club is an awesome Idea.. go for it. I myself was thinking the same thing, and I came across something from the University of Maryland on DZ.com, which I think sums up about everything to be successful.. I will give the address, but making sure they recieve credit for it... it seems as if they knew what they were doing and made it through.. I wish you luck and hope you can get your club started....http://www.dropzone.com/news/HowtoStartaCollegiateSky.shtml "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  11. Like everyone else is saying... take it easy and relax ( I know its easier said than done sometimes) I failed my Level 2 as well, but thats because I couldnt get my damn legs out. I live a little under 4 miles from the wind tunnel, so I have easy access to it. After i failed, I went down there, paid the 30 bucks for the 2 one minute jumps an just practiced turns and getting my legs out. Seeing that I was able to do it boosted my confidence enough for me to go back to level 2... I had everything done before I hit 8000 feet and got to play around... If you arent able to make it to the tunnel, which seems to be the case...see if maybe the instructor can even assist you w/ the turn. Maybe then can push your elbow, which would give you the feel of what its like.. I was worried as well, I had that feeling like.."so moving my elbow is going to turn me..?? yeah right".. It does, and its amazing how so little movement can turn you.... good luck and blue skys that turn.. 12. No matter which way you look at it down here, your usually no more than an hour from the coast ( 45 to east, hour to west in orlando).. but I know coming from Jersey, "Down the Shore" is always right off the parkway... Jobs are also great down here, I am in sales and marketing, and the opportunities are great... also many dropzones around "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  13. I like you moved down here to get away from the weather, and good jobs. Im from Jersey originally, and spent the last few years up in NY. I now have lived in Orlando for the last 9months and love it down here. Z hills is where Im taking my AFF and I love it there. As far as living there, my whole ride from orlando, I see more cows than people, But if you like that.. hey, go for it. I like Orlando, everything is here, its in the middle, and the dropzone is 50 minutes away.. either way, good luck "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  14. Congrats to everyone there.. I was just there for My AFF, but seeing the formation from the ground was indescribeable.. it was just awesome.. I give all the props to everyone involved, and congratulations to those who made the jump successful "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
  15. Good luck on getting the records.. hope the winds stay calm for you... blue skys! "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
