  4. Skysystems just picked up to make the Sidewinder again. That's why it is listed in the newest Paragear catalogue. It's a little bit weird as they don't really produce a mass of them, but if you order one you get it. Probably because not that many people are lookning for a full face camera helmet. I think that is the only available full face video helmet right now - beside custom made helmets. You should probably look for people who are able to make these custom made ones as you can then get all the stuff you want build in - and normally you stay below $ 500. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  11. That was FUN! Thanks to all of you for jumping, to Perris and it surroundings for landing opportunities, to Elsinore for the plane, to the organizers for organizing, to Twix and Kitkat for chocolate support on the way to altitude and to all the things I forgot (hypoxias long term results) For those who didn't get the website due to my German accent: The pictures I took will be posted at www.flyingarab.com in (hopefully) 2 to 3 weeks from now. blue skies Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  13. Normally there are three main reasons: 1) time - if you are doing several loads in a row (ex: camera guys) you sometimes don't have the time 2) lazyness - kind of selxeplaining 3) injuries/age - sometimes you just don't want to crawl on the floor Well and then there are the good hearted people, who want to keep the packers alive. Normally - if you choose a packer you do what is said in several of the other answers. Watch them packing, ask the people they packed for. I let my rig been packed from every packer at my new dropzone, watching them and comparing their speed and my openings. So now - if I'm in a hurry or to lazy, I know whom I will trust. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

    FreeZR

After having a XXL Z1 fow quite a time a tired the FreeZR this season and wow - what a difference. The visibility is awesome - you don't realize that you wear a helmet. I once eve forgot to open my visor under canopy (what I normally do) because didn't realize it. You need to get used to the opening mechanism of the visor but on the other hand Paratecs solution gives unwanted opening a 0% chance. Being used to the flip up of the Z1 the only slightly negative thing with the Z1 is, that in "full open"-mode the visor is still in front of your head and not completly above as with the Z1 - but on the other hand - who needs it there. It is also the first helmet where I can use my Oakley with the visor closed - and as we all know it's about looking cool, so this is another big thumbs up. Repeating what is said in the other rewiews, the FreeZr appears to sit a little bit loose around the neck/chin but I never had any problems using it on belly jumps as well as on head down, sit and stand. You have two pockets for audibles which indeed are a little bit less comfortable than in the Z1. The whole size system works in the following way: They have two outer shell sizes. One for XXS till M and one slightly bigger for the L - Xl people. To adjust to your size there are different padding to attach inside via velcro. They range from the Xs to the XL size getting thinner with each step. Right now I'm using the XL version and it is really comfortable.

  16. Dave! Did you finally made some jumps with the 350? How about the docking station procedure? You still like the camera? M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  17. I would suggest to get some more jumps before you go for the canopy. What size would it be? In the beginning you will realize that you can easily downsize after you have your license. Don't get me wrong but most of the times student canopies are really really big and a natural tendency after having your A is to go for exactly the same size which is - in most cases - not necessary. (To all the people who now think I want to talk her into a 110 or so - I do not!) Just think about it - I went from a 320 (no, not a tandem, military rig) to a 290 (5 jumps), 275 (another 10 jumps), 235 (again 10 or so), 190 (20 jumps) to a 170 where I finally stopped for a while and later on went to a 150 which I still have. So don't go to big. And 1) There is always a good deal on a canopy 2) A canopy without the rest of the rig doesn't help much. blue skies M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  18. I think there is already another post about Robs camp. So you should look there. See you Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  19. And I give it a try again for those who just look here on the weekend. So if anybody is flying in next Wednesday around noon and already has a trip organized - please let me know, so that nice people who offered picking me up (driving from Perris to Ontario and back) don't have to spend their time on the road and can jump instead. 20. yes and no. both sometimes ended in long lasting relationships. so, actually i have to vote in both categories vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  22. 1) what made you start jumping / how you became interested? In the first place - I had to (Army) 2) How long have you been jumping? How many jumps do you have? First static line round 1991, 60 jumps w/ rounds First freefall 2002, 643 freefall 3)What method of training did you do? static line for the rounds (obviously) the freefall program continued w/ accepting the static line stuff, first jump from about 5000 on my own, 5sec to pull, then continuously increasing altitude and freefall-time (don't know how to call that) 4) how has skydiving changed you life? keeps my savings down, reduced the number of skydiving friends remarkably and once in a while causes arguing in my relationship vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  23. Good luck There is a related thread about sponsoring which describes pretty good how to adress it. I just don#t remember where but I'm searching. and here it is:http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1262004 vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  24. From what I found out, the nearest DZ (about 40km / 25 miles northeast) is at Hassfurt. FSZ Hassfurt e.V. Flugplatzstrasse 20 D-97437 Hassfurt Link: http://www.fsz-hassfurt.de/FSZHassfurtEV/public/news/news_Index.jsp I think that they are closed during the wintertime but you should contact them, to get an updated schedule. If I find something else, which is close by, I'll let you know. You should also post your question in the German forum (Stammtisch). blue skies, M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
