  5. How about Texas? Skydive Houston (www.SkydiveHouston.com) has really cheap jump tickets and its a nice place too. Weather is also supposed to be nice during november. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  6. Sorry for that - just know a french guy whose name is Rene. I'm right now checking the possibilities to go there. Have to wait, till my boss comes back from Nigeria next Friday to get his O.K. As soon as I know more, I will let you know. Where do you all stay? (Or should I already know this from some earlier posts?) vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  9. I'll be there froum around christmas. I just know the tickets at my DZ are around 25 Euro for 4000m out of a Cessna 206 turbine. I think the rates will be around this price. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  10. It ist just a joke between belly-flyers and freeflyers. Remember StarWars - the dark side of the force? Probably this is where the term comes from. And of course you should try everything. blue skies vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  11. No, not at all. Furthermore, the dark side is always the one opposite to my planned skydive. So I'm always on the right (light) side. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  12. Well, reading el_chesters post reminded me, that I didn't ever post my own introduction. Better late than never: I started in 1991 in the military with static line and stayed at that side of the game till 2002. (Thats why my profile says 2 years in sport). I then got the chance to get my freefall course and became hooked. Until now I have spend a total of about 3 hours in windtunnels in Zurich, Switzerland (don't go there, if you don't have to), Paris, France (one of the if not the best one in Europe. You can fly 8ways in there), and Orlando, Florida. Jump number in my profile is updated weekly and my favorite discipline is RW (4way to TSR-size). Some excursions to the dark side (Freefly) are done and further are planned because I think you should be able to fly your body in all positions. At the moment I jump most of the times at Skydive Houston, but unfortunately by the end of the year, I have to move back to the country of small planes and high ticket prices. Blue skies, Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  13. Stop! Don't do that! Stay with us! Just kidding. Hey, I am still waiting on a response in your Stammtisch post. See you, Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  14. The big companies involved in skydiving sponsorship (like Go Fast or Red bull) have nowadays application sites on their websites as quite a lot of people want to be sponsored. To get their attention really needs outstanding performance! A thing that worked for me: I just wrote an email to a German manufacturer (in this case Paratec) who wanted to raise the attention towards his product in the US. I told them that I participate in the Texas State Record and asked them to send me one of their new helmets for free, so that I can use it at TSR where supposingly over 100 skydivers may see it. I also offered them to get their logo onto the helmet. To my surprise they agreed. And I now have a $ 300 worth new FreeZR. Even if its just a really small sponsorship, it's the first step. But probably the only way to get to really big sponsor contracts is to spend a lot of money in the first time to get really good in your discipline and then apply for a sponsorship - if the sponsor didn't ask you, because he sees you running around without any logos. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  15. Hey Chester! Hope you had fun. Check your post in Stammtisch! What are your plans for the next couple of months? When do you move to Berlin? Sorry, back to the topic: Was the 104 the biggest formation that was build? blue skies, M. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  16. I really don't (want to) remember as i kind of ignore any skydiving related payments because it would drive my crazy. It was something around $600. Planned 15 jumps. Due to rain 10 jumps from 18000, 1 jump 21000ft, 1 jump 22000ft. Some money will be refunded. As soon as I have internet at home I can send you the actual amount. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  17. Na endlich Stefan, it is really hard to read. Probably you can get it on your website and then just post a link. Gruesse, Airwolf vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  18. Here's how I managed it: June 2004 arrived in Texas (from Germany). Jumped at Shydive Houston and Skydive Spaceland and heard about TSR. Looked at their website www.texasstaterecord.com and found the names of the plane captains. July 2004: Jumped at 4th of July boogie at Skydive Dallas to get known to Larry Henderson and Rob Laidlaw and asked them about TSR Jumped at Skyfest with Gary Beyer who send his recommendation to Tom Jenkins who finally send me the invitation. The normal way would be to join at least one of the bigway camps (which I couldn't as I came to late to the States) and show your abilities both in the sky (good flying, grip discipline, follow the plan ....) and on the ground (listen, be there on time, follow the plan, ...) so see you next year in Dallas. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  19. Furthermore they also feature the canopies of paratec and on this page they definitely say that they are TSOed. So I wonder why the rig should not be. UPDATE: Just received this from Paratec U.S.A.: Yes the Next harness/container and Speed 2000 reserve are TSO'd for the US as of April 24, 2003. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  20. Here is the link to the next manual from Paratec's website:http://p4961.typo3server.info/fileadmin/user/pdfs/Next_Manual_intl..pdf. I have contacted both paratec and paratec USA about the service bulletin and hope to have more information about who can work on the rig and how to react if you find this kind of pin. From what I remember when I last talked to them in Germany the NEXT is TSO'ed but as they just mention the JTSO in the manual I included this question in my mail to them. Hopefully I can post some more details here tomorrow. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  21. Immanuel! How about updating your profile, so that I can see where in Germany I can meet you to discuss the tracking question. No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

  23. At my home-DZ in Germany we operate two 206T. It takes about 20 minutes to altitude with 6 jumpers. You can launch a 6way out of it. For more information about it you can go to the DZ website (www.fsvsaar.de) and ask some questions on their message board (the button is named Schwarzes Brett, located on the left side of the page).I am sure that one of our pilots will answer it. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  24. Did you get the data from the protrack itself or through the software readout (jump track)? With the jump track curve you can really see, in which phase of the jump you developed the max speed. Is it true airspeed (TAS) or skydivers airspeed (SAS)? The latter takes field elevation into account and makes the speed more comparable. If TAS, what field elevation do you jump at? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  25. I bought mine around jump number 100. Reasons: 1. Rental fees in Germany are way lower (at least at my DZ) than in the US. Actually, if you join the skydiving club at my DZ over there, it´s for free. 2. I first wanted to try several rigs/canopies under several conditions. Strong wind/no wind, ... 3. I wanted to "downsize" from the huge student canopies to something I felt comfortable with for the next hundred(s) of jumps. 4. The (used) one I actually bought was a good offer at that time and it fitted nearly perfect. I'm still jumping it. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
