  1. Thanks Jim vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  2. Hey Chester! My plane captain and myself are your age. Probably the reason that there are more "old" than young people is, that bigway is not as "cool" as speeding 4-ways or a burning head down. And it requires a lot of disciplined following the rule - attitude to keep the number of injuries and reserves as low as for example on TSR. And last but not least it requires a certain amount of money to be able to travel around the US to attend the camps or even just go to the events. This is normally not available during your university time. See you in Perris. Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  3. About the TX tunnel: It is not as good as the Skyventure ones, but it can help you at least in building confidence in your "falling in place"-skills. (Yes, I am a big tunnel fan). I think I remember your discussion on Saturday evening at Spaceland about going to the tunnel. The camp the guys from Spaceland offer will surely be great and so just listen to your money about the go or no go decision. Finally trust all the people above, saying that jumping at the time of 50something jumps sometimes lets you wonder if you will ever be able to fly as good as all these other people. We all started at this level and had more experienced people helping us through this "dark valley". And then there is this one day when suddenly it works. You fall in place as if you have never ever done something else. You can also try out Skydive Houston, as their jump rates are cheaper than the ones in Spaceland - people there are also nice (I like both places but most of the time jump at SDH just out of financial reason). Whatever your decision will be - don't let a couple of "not so good" jumps get you down. Blue skies Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  4. If I´m not going to the sequentials in september, I will probably be there. Updates on my plan by the end of next week. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  5. I started with the tunnel after 50 jumps and (50 jumps) later bought the rig because of the following reasons: 1. Gear rental in Germany isn´t that expensive as in the states. 2. Developing good flying skills saves you money later on. Once you developed a wrong/bad body position it takes you approximately the same number of jumps to get rid of it. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  6. Have to figure out, if I get the days off. If so, I will come on wednesday. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  7. Hey Eric! No way to make some bigways without you? Have to check if I get the Thursday and Friday off. Do you have a rental car over there? When do you fly in (and to which airport)? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  8. Just send me an email again before your arrival. If I am still in Houston at that time, I think I can help you at least on some days. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  9. Do they have a website? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  10. Not to forget the jumpers from Norway and Germany Even without getting the record it was an amazing weekend! Thanks to all volunteers on the ground, the pilots, the organizers and all the jumpers I had the opportunity to jump with. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  11. Jim What is the cheapest way to get there - any good airline tips? Thanks Markus vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!

This really is a cosy little DZ. Even when you jump here the first time, you will be introduced to nearly all of the other jumpers by the staff. Every evening the fireplace will be lighted for BBQ. They even have a small creeping area and added another Cessna 206 Turbine to their fleet. All 3 aircraft are in a very good condition. You can allways find other jumpers to invite you for a 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 way. With now 3 Cessnas you will also get a chance to do 18ways. They recently added a new packing area as well as a gearstore of a german parachute manufactor (Paratec). Normally riggers are available each weekend. Once you jumped there you will easily want to call it your home DZ.
  13. I think this needs a little bit of clarification: Often people with a high number of jumps claim to be experienced and they are the people who, in the need to underline there "experience", yell at others. A real experienced skydiver in my opinion would: #1 take the people who he/she wants to talk to aside (see also JohnMitchells post) #2 talk about what he/she thinks went wrong #3 listens to the other ones response and how he/she saw the situation #4 tries to find/suggest a solution, so that the situation in discussion will not happen again #5 isn't ashamed to admit mistakes At least this is what I call an experienced skydiver. Unfortunately you find/hear more of the self-proclaimed experienced guys than of the others. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  14. Sorry - but what does AOTMB stands for? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  15. Thanks - just after writing the request, I received an email with the information! See you there! vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  16. Jim! Do you know, when to expect any organizational updates? Does Spaceland still needs additional volunteers for ground support? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  17. Any updates on your schedule for TSR weekend? I heard that spaceland appreciates any helping hand during this weekend. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  18. Concerning Germany: In Germany your license normally will be accepted. Of course, each DZ can make up their own rules but the ones I know don't have a problem with the USPA license. At some places they probably want you to do your first jump with an instructor. To get the most accurate answer to your question just visit the homepages of the parachute organization of each country. The good thing in doing this is, that they normally send you an answer which you can take with you in a printed version to stop funny and sometimes unnecessary DZ policies like "You first have to sign here and join our club and sign there and pay for this " and so on. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  19. Hi! I´m looking for all skydivers from Germany who will be at TSR in order to make a couple of pictures, writing a short article and send it to DFV (=German USPA). So feel free to contact me: [email protected]. See you at TSR! Airwolf vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  20. Depending on haow far you are willing to drive and what jumpplanes you are looking for, I can give you a couple of suggestions. You can also look at http://dfv.sci-network.net/adressen.php. Thid psge is hosted by the german equivalent to USPA and is sorted by states. You should check the DZ in the states Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland. vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
  21. Hi. I just started to join a RW-team and at the moment we are trying to intensify our training. Coming out of that is the permanent shortage of money. Now we are thinking about getting some sponsors. Does anybody know, how much you can ask from a firm, if you wear stickers of them? vSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
