  1. I think your attitude is pretty indicative of what's wrong with the command echelons of the military today. Rather than letting a guy blow of steam in a highly stressful environment, the PC commanders in the military want to string him up if it wasn't photoshopped. I personally don't think he's giving our troops a bad name, nor do I think that anyone has any problems with our fighting forces per se. Sure they disagree with whether we should be over there, but nobody's calling the troops "baby killers." I'm grown up enough to know better than getting bent out of shape over a joke (even if it was in poor taste). If the UCMJ says court martial him, it can and probably will. But it's still pretty pathetic.
  2. OK, OK, OK, I hereby submit myself to the body for appropriate discipline. I could've gone back and edited my stupidity, but who am I to stop people from having a real good laugh (even if it's at my expense). Hey, I'm a good sport. I still say have a Cup.
  3. Considering that this guy was probably in combat getting shot at (he's infantry), I say all the PC types should just have a cup of Shut the F*** Up. Ever heard of freedom of speech? I think it's funny as hell. Pay up? Send him to combat, then court martial him for having a sick sense of humor? Grow up.
  4. Actually his 1st jump was from an Avenger torpedo bomber.
  5. Having an Ex-President taking participating in sport parachuting is a huge plus for this sport.
  6. FWIW, I've seen many people mount cameras on Protecs.
  7. Go for one that will withstand the rigors of life on the road. You will drop a laptop, count on it. I've always had Toshibas and swear by them. Built like tanks (or at least they were). IBMs are another good model. Try to find one with a pointing stick though. The touch pads can get tempermental after a while.
  8. I agree it's quite sad. Almost as sad as politics these days is now not voting for someone you believe in, but rather voting for someone because he's not the person you hate. I voted for Bush because I hated Clinton/Gore, not because I was crazy about Bush (I still don't like Bush; I just dislike Kerry more). Hijacking hostages released unharmed.
  9. I had this horror 6 months ago. Lasted 3-4 weeks. Talk about wanting to f***ing die. Aleve, nope. Advil, nothing. Alcohol, a littleThe only thing that helped was a prescription pain patch (lidocaine? some sort of "caine"). A buddy who had back surgery gave me some spares. Did wonders, but would seriously dehydrate me. Good luck. I think rest is the best answer (unless you've got a serious condition).
  10. damn his/her hand has to be tired.
  11. Scubadiving, I think the fact that many jumpers have responded to your post, and that this thread is not locked speaks volumes. I for one welcomed your original post as well as the thoughtful and constructive responses. No apologies necessary. Chuck
  12. Of course I'd sell out. I settle for a couple million and then go buy an aerobatic airplane. If you've ever flown in a Sukhoi 300, you'll know what I mean. In-fricking-credible.
  13. So I guess the old saying is true: don't bite the hand that feeds you. Edited to add: I can't find any reference to this in the WSJ. Where did you see this?
  14. God I love the Brits! Talk about putting one back in short pants!!
  15. A pro?!? No just sick and twisted.
  16. Tell us a little more about the victim. You need to do a thorough reconnaisance on the target before you strike.
  17. SUPPOSEDLY one is being built in Trenton, NJ, but it seems to be having a hard time being finished. Just Google wind tunnel trenton and you should find the sparse web page.
  18. I hope there wasn't any wind? That would be what spotting is for.
  19. Man, doesn't this about sum it all up. Great response. Don't follow your list, listen to your heart.
  20. Your FJC will take care of that, but I've seen women the same size as you go through a FJC with a Manta (288 sq.ft.) with no problem. Takes 'em forever to come down though. But, that's a plus isn't it.
  21. Great post, but shouldn't you put it over in the Speaker's Corner rather than the Bonfire? This place is peace, love and groovy compared to the scorched earth tactics going on over there. Edited to add: Never mind, I re-read your post. I'll take my toys and go home now.
  22. Maytown Sport Parachute Club, 10 miles east of York, PA. 2 C-182s, great people and wide open farm land for miles around (and the neighbors absolutely love us!) We have a few regular jumpers from the Baltimore area.
  23. Which is why they haven't gone after Sadr's Shia like they've gone after the Baathists in Fallujah. You're right though, the US and Governing Council did drop the ball by letting Sadr become the figure he is.
