  1. Derrick Evans resigns W.Va. House after entering U.S. Capitol with mob https://wvmetronews.com/2021/01/09/derrick-evans-resigns-w-va-house-after-entering-u-s-capitol-with-mob/ Nice to see a perp doing the right thing
  2. But an impeachment would mean Trump can't run again, thereby removing the albatross from around their neck, so they can run someone in 2024 who is sane. It is in their longterm interest to help convict him in the senate.

  5. Another reason we need the 25th invoked NOW!!!
  6. From Heather Cox Richardson this morning In the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has no interest in further splitting the Republicans over another impeachment, or forcing them onto the record as either for or against it. Timing is on his side: the Senate is not in session for substantive business until January 19, so cannot act on an impeachment resolution without the approval of all senators. It can take up the resolution then, but more likely it will wait until Biden is sworn in, at which point the measure would be managed not by McConnell, but by the new House majority leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY). A trial can indeed take place after Trump is no longer president, enabling Congress to make sure he can never again hold office. https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/january-8-2021 I hadn't even thought about the fact a post-term Senate vote would be managed by Schumer, and not McConnell.
  7. Someone remind me again of how the MAGA trash respect law enforcement and support Blue Lives Matter: https://www.wsj.com/video/video-moment-pro-trump-rioters-clashed-with-police-in-capitol-corridor/64F2C294-B1DF-4591-A636-059EA02A5B58.html
  8. It sounds like the Senate just might be acting on the impeachment after Trump is out of office (as previously discussed here): McConnell circulates procedures for second Senate impeachment trial of Trump https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/533461-mcconnell-circulates-procedures-for-second-senate-impeachment-trial-of-trump

  10. Bwahahaha!!! https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/01/twitter-says-it-permanently-banned-trump.html First, the president fled to the @POTUS account where he was cut off by Twitter, mid-statement, offering complaints about “free speech” and showmanship promise of a “big announcement soon.” Then he tried the Trump campaign’s official account, where he was also caught, leading Twitter to ban that account as well. Then the Trump campaign’s digital director apparently tried to give Trump his account — and got banned, according to CNN’s Jeremy Diamond.
  11. The Democrats might get a clear majority in the senate sooner than expected: Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski calls on President Trump to resign, questions her future as a Republican https://www.adn.com/politics/2021/01/08/alaska-sen-lisa-murkowski-calls-on-president-trump-to-resign-questions-her-future-as-a-republican/

  13. I had never seen a recommendation before, but if that's what it takes to get my posts recommended, sure I'll join in. Now who should I attack first...hmmm...
  14. I'm getting mixed messages here; Personal Attacks are recommended? LOL!
  15. WaPo: Dozens arrested after mob storms Capitol; officials vow that more will be charged https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/capitol-siege-arrests/2021/01/07/661292a2-5105-11eb-bda4-615aaefd0555_story.html Now here is an odd part: One person arrested was charged with possessing a “military style automatic weapon” and 11 molotov cocktails, prosecutors said. Another defendant was charged with assaulting a police officer with a hockey stick. Yet another, who needed a Russian interpreter, told a judge, “I don’t know what unlawful entry you are referring to.” WTF?
  16. The American Federation of Teachers has issued a statement on the resignation of Betsy DeVos, and it is great! https://www.aft.org/press-release/afts-weingarten-betsy-devos-resignation-education-secretary ROTF!
  17. Damn! According to that, the post-term conviction could be done by just the 50 non-GOP senators plus VP Harris. I like it!
  18. Sure, I will sign on to ensuring the Halfwit can't run again. Although it would be more satisfying to remove him today to stop any more damage. And it would enable Pence to beat William Henry Harrison's record for shortest term served.
  19. OK, this is news to me. Although I don't see the point of trying to impeach Belknap after he had already resigned.
