I wave throw and, if it feels the same as every other time, I don't look. If it takes a bit longer, or just feels different, then I look.

Oh I forgot to mention: I literally count out loud after I throw. It's a left over from student days. I didn't even realize I still do it until my most recent jump.

Wave off..throw..wait till I'm vertical and then sometimes I'll look up if it seems like its sniveling a little longer the usaul!! Its reallly amazing how you just get to know the feel and opening characteristics of your canopy!!

My general experience is that if i look back and then have a spanker of an opening, it really fucks with my neck - I look straight forward and hope for the best....

Pull time for a CRW jumps is 2-5 seconds out the door so there's no real waveoff, though it's not uncommon to geek the camera and/or the rest of the load on exit. I've never looked back when dealing with a deployment problem; I've just reached back and cleared it.

I don't really look back, but I sure as shit look up to watch the bag open. If it looks like it is going to twist, I trie and change body possition. I must say though, My canopy takes 1200 feet to open, so I spend a lot of time looking at it and my alti.

If I'm tracking away from anything bigger than a 6 way I'll pull a barrel roll in my track to check airspace. If not, I'll look over each shoulder, wave off, & deploy.

Since I jump an elliptical I don't look at the deployment. If I don't feel the bag lift off of my back or the snatch of the pilot chute within a second or two I'll sit up. If the PC was stuck in my burble, that will clear it.

If nothing still happens after that I will cut away and go for silver. Total time from pitch to silver would probably be 4-5 seconds.

Once the snivel stands me up I have my hands on the risers and then I will look up at the canopy while keeping an eye on the horizon so I can keep my Stiletto on heading with harness input.

1200 ft!!!!!!...maybe you should review ure packing method....thats a long "snivel" ...I'd be looking for the big silver handle.

I wave off at 4k...arch... pull (3500)...back to arch...look right(incase pc gets in the burble)...check canopy....normally under full canopy before 3k..

I have seen my canopy open many times(love to watch it open..pop pop pop)....have only seen the bag once in FF...hope never to see it again .

Wave, throw, and look everytime. Now I sound like a goody-two-shoes. LOL

I can only manage to keep my eye on the pilot-chute until full line stretch and then wind up grabbing rear riser and stearing with my butt and hips while opening. Seems like fast canopies make you pay more attention to the issues at hand. I can't ever remember doing this on a SPECTRE.

Throw out, look over my shoulder to watch canopy come out, say "come on baby" 3 times and thats about it.

I often barrel roll before waving... then I usually hold my head, 'cause I got a hard opening a few weeks ago with the video on my helmet... but most of the times look at the opening and grab my rear risers to be able to steer it during opening,
then I release and pull my reserve because my openings are SH.... and it's a nice image on the video ;-)

the way mine works is i track look wave and pitch.i have enough jumps on my canopy that i know what it feels like.i used to try to watch the canopy open but on line stretch my head would almost ry to touch my shoulder blades.when i pitch i bring my hands to my risers and the risers are there then i know everythings doing what it should.***if you are going to be stupid you better be tough

I look over right shoulder when my arms go in for the wave, over left when it goes out. Throw and if nothing happens I look to see if there's something wrong (pc in tow, baglock etc).

I throw, wait 2 secs and then I look back. But for students, I recommend to always look back. When I was doing my AFF I pulled and the free bag was stucked in the vacuum (behind my back) I looked at my instructor face and he was laughting at my scared face!!!

It depends on the group I'm jumping with, the more people there are the more I look aroung to see where and what others are doing. I usually reach up for my rear risers and worry more about what is going on around me.
