New Speaker Mike Johnson had these cheery words to console us all:

“I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a manner like this. I believe that Scripture, the Bible is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us. And I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time. This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today, to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country, and they deserve it.”

Good deal, more Jesus.

Guess God also selected Biden then. So why did he try and overturn the will of God?

Hi Joe,

Whenever I read something like this, I think:  Just how in hell do you then support Trump?

Just because Trump has over 35,000 proven violations of the 9th Commandment, along with admitted violations of the 7th and known violations of the 8th doesn't mean you can't want him as your leader.

Ungodly people will never understand spiritual people. It's really that easy. Congratulations to Mike Johnson!!!!!!

My son and I are worlds apart in terms of religious beliefs, he's a devout christian and I'm best described as Pagan. One thing that we both agree on is that hypocrisy is both lazy and weak.

Secondly, the inability to apply critical thinking seems to be a pandemic these days. The blinkered my guys are saints and yours are sinners attitude harks back to the dawn of time. I'm pretty sure if Jesus was in the US, the vast majority of republicans would want him shot and deported back to Mexico.

So it was God that stuffed the ballot box.

It is a strange position for him to be in, isn't it? He's claiming that the American people wanted Trump to be President but god told them they were wrong and fixed it for Biden instead.

I don't understand how God brought everyone together to make him Speaker, but God wasn't involved with bringing people together to make Biden President.

Since you are apparently a Godly person, I can't wait to read your well reasoned response.

Having studied the Bible a fair amount I can't seem to put the puzzle pieces together to flesh out any specific prophecy.  Most of the claims seem to be mundane (war, and rumors of war), dead wrong (Paul telling everyone not to bother breeding because god was coming back in that generation), or so vague that I can't see the prophecy at all.

Maybe god formed me with such flawed credulity that my purpose is to be eternal human incense after I'm dead.

Yep.  There were half a dozen prophecies proclaimed in the Bible that have not come to pass, and dozens more that have not come to pass but can be hand-waved away because it "hasn't happened yet" or some such.

And of course there have been literally hundreds of end days prophecies _based_ on the Bible.  Again, all false so far.  Most recent:

Pastor F. Kenton Beshore said the rapture would occur during 2021 at the latest.
David Meade is a Christian numerologist who analyzed the Bible and said the world would end in 2018.
The eBible Fellowship predicted that world would be destroyed in 2015.
Mormons who believed the "blood moon prophecy" believed the world would end between 2014 and 2015.
Rasputin predicted that Jesus would return on 23 Aug 2013.

I'm glad they rigged the election. Now it's easy to see who did it and how desperate they are. If you read the Bible you'll know what verse I'm referring to.

I have absolutely no idea, and I bet you don’t either.

There is no freakin’ way you’re some kind of religious zealot who believes in biblical prophecies and this is the first time you’re mentioning it.

Of course he's not.  He figured it would just get you going - and he was right.

I also believe the scripture is very clear. If Jesus was to return he would be riding a magical unicorn flanked by the flying spaghetti monster. He would proceed to flay Johnson and all of the other hypocrites before sending them down to a fiery hell where they would wake each day to never ending suffering for acting like horrible human beings and perverting his teaching to justify their shitty ways.

Just when you think American politics can't get any weirder you get proven wrog once again

Hold that thought. A journalist just decided to write about spending a few weeks using the porn accountability app that Mike Johnson says he uses with his teenage son, allowing each of them to see any sexual content the other one looks at.

It’s a pretty funny article overall, but particularly interesting that while it throws a fit over any picture of a woman in a bikini (or crop top, or even off the shoulder dress by the sound of it) it didn’t make a peep when the websites of male strip clubs were being perused. Classic Republican family values!
