?? You said it yourself - they are different views, taken 1.4 miles apart. That's why they look different. If you took a picture of it from the White House or from an airplane they would also look different.

No one here is promoting the idea that the Trump presidency is illegitimate based on those pictures. What they do demonstrate is that he doesn't have a great grasp on reality.

There are loads of big empty spaces in that photo, you just can't see them anywhere near as well as on the Reuters image because the photo is taken from a low angle. The people at the front of each square are blocking the clear view of the empty spaces behind them.

Don't fall into the Trump trap of not understanding perspective.

I do see why Trump thought he had a packed house and he's at an even lower angle than the CNN photograph. Here's the high res from Reuters. You can't make out Trump in it but you can see that everyone is there on the steps and the soldiers in the middle are at about the same location (not that they couldn't move over a 6 hour period), other things like locations where there is only one row of people in the sections is about the same.

They appear to have been taken at the same time.

I think we can figure this out. Zoom in to the screens to the left and right of the stairs, the one on the left is more clear. Who is that on the screen? It wouldn't be very difficult to figure out exactly when the picture was taken based upon what was on the screen.
