I know few, if any, people of that age that can write that well.

Obviously there are crazy people on both sides. You sound like you think it's okay for Trump supporters to be crazy because anti-Bush people did it first. Interesting take on BDIF.

BTW, the same guy was featured in two of your pictures.

I don't think it is OK for either side.
I think it is a despicable way to act.

But showing, and promoting hate speech one side gives out is no better than showing and promoting the other side.

The media is running this race.
The winner has already been chosen, but the right amount of money can swing their choices.

Hmm, this seems like an odd reaction from a candidate who claims he doesn't want violence as his rallies:

Quote

Donald Trump says he’s “instructed my people” to explore the possibility of helping pay the legal bills for a 78-year-old man charged with assault at a Trump rally.

Authorities have said John Franklin McGraw of Linden, North Carolina, was charged after he was caught on video hitting a man deputies were escorting at a Trump rally last Wednesday in Fayetteville.

Trump tells NBC’s “Meet the Press” that McGraw “got carried away” and “maybe he doesn’t like seeing what’s happening to the country.”

Trump was asked if he might help McGraw with legal fees, if McGraw needed it.

Trump says: “I’ve actually instructed my people to look into it, yes.”

Trump is a dangerous monster.

Yes, when I see a rich thug rewarding a common thug for an unprovoked attack on a man in custody, I also don't like seeing what’s happening to the country.:S

It gets even worse when you consider the candidate that will likely be nominated to oppose him.:|

Ok...

So who was the candidate showing and promoting the anti-Bush threats (still not the same as anti-muslim hate speech, btw) in your attachments?

Fairly few people can write that well at any age. Mary Shelly, OTOH, wrote Frankestein, The Modern Prometheus when she was 18.

So, there's that.

Actually, no it doesn't. She's still infinitely better than he is. That's the sad thing, if the GOP had put up someone even half way credible, they could well have been a shoo-in this time round.

Canadian Chutzpah

"Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed alarm today at the growing number of people who are threatening to leave the US and move to Canada if Donald Trump is elected President of the United States, an event that seems all the more likely with Trump’s recent Super Tuesday wins.
Man stretching jacket to reveal shirt with Canada flag printed. Concept of patriotism and national team supporting.

Are a whole bunch of liberal American celebrities really just closet Canadians?

Candidate Trump’s popularity within the United States has driven many pampered liberal celebrities to make empty threats about leaving the country and emigrating to Canada if Trump wins the election for US president in 2016.

Although almost no one ever follows through on these promises Canada is taking no chances. Out of concern for its largely-unprotected 5,000+ mile border with the US, Canada is building a wall to keep out the expected surge of illegal American immigrants who will pour into Canada after a Trump triumph in November.

And, Trudeau says, Canada wants America to pay for it.

“We already absorbed plenty of your countrymen during the Vietnam War, and even though most of them returned to the US after President Carter granted them amnesty back in 1977, it is notoriously hard to get rid of people once they come to Canada,” Prime Minister Trudeau said in “An Open Letter to the American People,” which was filmed in a Tom Horton’s coffee shop and broadcast throughout North America by French-language Canadian television channel TVA… which seemed a bit pointless, since no one in America speaks French. “This is especially true if they’re refugees fleeing political turmoil, the kind that’s currently going on in Syria and is likely to ensue in the US after an inevitable Trump election.”

“During his rise to power,” the Prime Minister continued, “Donald Trump promised to build a wall to keep illegal immigrants Well, what’s good for the Canada Goose is good for the American Gander. So, we’re going to build a wall to keep the Americans out. And we want America to pay for it.” Then, remembering his Canadian manners, he added “Please.”"

A wall along the Mexican border and one along the Canadian border. Hmmm, there is some fantasy appeal in that concept.

It is alarming that Donald get so much attention. Look at him. Look at what he say, what he do, and what i wants!

Dont you guys see? This poll have made more than 100 votes, and Donald got soon 40% of all votes, something like 60% if you only count US voters.

What is wrong with you guys? Im just asking. Give me one good reason to vote for such a person as Donald? I do not need to provide any links, videos or news articles to prove this man is mad, crazy, dangerous, and will be the most rude president ever. I would rather vote for George W Bush, than this monster if I was an American. Jeeez

A couple of weeks ago I was comforts by Rehmwa's reminder that Minnesota survived Jesse Ventura just fine. However, the farther we get into this election cycle, the less I'm thinking that Trump will rise to the occasion (which I honestly think he's capable of), and instead am getting more and more concerned about this populist swell he's riding, and that won't be his to control even if he's elected.

I think a wall around the whole country is a wonderful idea. With full travel restrictions. Nobody in and nobody out. Last thing we need is that Trump idiocy spreading.

The governor of Minnesota generally does not deal with matters of national security or foreign affairs. I agree Ventura was a shitty governor though.

It wasn't so much that he was shitty or not, it was more that he thought being the chief executive meant he'd have the power to just make things happen like a CEO.

Reality hit when he found out he needed the legislature to agree for anything big to happen. At which point, being 'refreshing' by speaking his mind and not faking sympathy with whiners and activists was about the extent of his influence.

I suspect Trump is in the same boat - it's a presidency with balance of powers in play - not a company or a kingship.

I'm kind of counting on a hostile legislature no matter who eventually gets into the office. I feel pretty good about the chances of this too.

Honesty and openness.

Really. Keep reading.

A lot of people have been asking for a while:

"Why do middle class and lower-middle class people support the Republicans? It goes against their personal interests."

And it does. The Rs support big business, big banks, big agriculture, big everything. Often at the expense of the "little guy."

Yet they receive a lot of "blue collar" support. You'd think that the Ds, who support unions, taxing the "big guys" and a variety of social programs that help the "little guy" would get that support.

But the Rs also support gun rights, abortion restrictions, immigration restrictions, less help for the "lazy welfare bums" and that sort of stuff. They don't openly support racism, xenophobia, religious intolerance or that sort of thing. But the Ds openly oppose that sort of thing.

So the bigots, racists, xenophobes, religious zealots and such oppose the Ds. They don't exactly support the Rs, but they don't see another choice.

Remember when Obama made the "Bitterly clinging to their guns and religion" comment?
He should have added "And their bigotry, xenophobia, racism and hatred."

It's been noted that Trump is simply saying all the things "these people" want to hear. And that the Rs have been hinting at it for a long time to attract those types of people, but wouldn't say it openly for fear of offending folks.

So now Trump is being open and honest about it. He's courting the hatred. The "Anyone not like me isn't a REAL American and should shut up and leave" crowd.

And as it turns out, that crowd is a lot bigger than anyone thought.

He's telling them exactly what they want to hear.

It hasn't been socially acceptable to be a bigot or to speak out against groups for a while.
Trump is changing that.
And all the people who felt that way, but were unable to voice those opinions are now coming out of the woodwork.

And it scares the living shit out of me.

I don't want to go "Full Godwin" on this, but Trumps actions scarily mimic a certain Bavarian corporal.

Find a large, angry group of people. Find a group to blame. Make inflammatory speeches telling them basically nothing. But feed their fears, give them a scapegoat and tell them that attacking that scapegoat will "make America better."

Someone noted that the Rs have created a monster and it's now out of their control. I think that assessment is very accurate.
