It was a wake up call to the Democrats not to take things for granted.

If that is all that the dems learn from this than they have bigger issues than i thought:|

This still wasn't a landslide

Were not talking about Texas here:| It was everything but a landslide!

if Coakley had campaigned better, asked for more help,

She had the POTUS fly in for for her!!!!!!! Get real if you think she didnt get ALOT of help to try and win this.

I've been watching the demographics of likely voters and a large number identify themselves as independent. They are the one who swayed this election., Apparently fed up with the radical nature of the bullshit going on in the Senate right now. Hopefully most of the Dems will see this as an indication of their chances of re election, and will shift away from HIS MAJESTY'S agenda appropriatly. But, the hard core socialist radicals will still try to push this crap through, so shennanigans may still follow. In any case, Ted K's ghost and I will hoist anoter whiskey. Actually, I'm kickin him out. He's drinkin all my stash. But heres to you Ted!
The forecast is mostly sunny with occasional beer.

Man, Coakley is right up there with Palin in the amount of fail on this. It was hers to lose and somehow, she managed to. That's just pathetic.

You think she alone lost this race?:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
That is some funny shit there! Just wait until the end of the year. People are sick of the liberal agenda! You will see some of your boys heads a rollin! Independents will be heard;)

It was a wake up call to the Democrats not to take things for granted.

This still wasn't a landslide and if Coakley had campaigned better, asked for more help, hadn't taken pretty much the month of December off to go on vacation . . . yeah, she did lose it because she assumed she'd just waltz in and win.

I doubt you can count on that happening again.

Hard to have a landslide in a state where registered democrats outnumber republicans by 3 to 1. Coakley had a lousy campaign, and her gaffes near the end proved her so far out of touch that I'm surprised people were able to hold their nose to vote for her. I hope Brown will serve well, but this seat is up again for election in November right? So, I'm not going to get over excited, just enough though...
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright

Power to da people!!!! (esp. the independents!)

Then I'm confused because it wasn't an independent that won.

Are you guys even sure you know who won or are only concerned with the fact that a Democrat lost?

I will say this, the Republican party does seem to love its beauty queens.

This is a huge relief - neither high spending party should have the White House and a supermajority in Congress at the same time.

It appears that, even were the healthcare vote to be held tomorrow, that interim Senator Kirk could not cast a vote:

Link

Snippage (Senate report regarding interim Senator Berry, TN):
Quote

The Senate subcommittee and committee concluded, based on its hearing and review, that “the term of service of a Senator appointed to fill a vacancy in an unexpired term ends on the day when his successor is elected by the people.” 1939 Congressional Record, p. 998. There was evidently no controversy among either the subcommittee or full committee regarding this legal conclusion, and the committee then presented a resolution to the Senate for adoption, expressing the view that Berry’s term of service expired on November 8, 1938, the date of the special election. As Senator Connally, a member of the subcommittee, explained to the Senate, the fact that the Tennessee statute purported to extend Berry’s term until the qualification of his successor was of no force because the statute was “plainly in conflict with the provisions of the seventeenth amendment.” Accordingly, the Senate adopted the proposed resolution without dissent. 1939 Congressional Record, p. 1058.

um - assuming they could just waltz in and do what they want is exactly why the Dems are in trouble. You'd think they would have learned from the Republicans...

What the heck does Palin have to do with this Massachusetts Senate race to fill Kennedy's seat? Why is the left so obsessed with Palin? I even caught a small bit of CNN (Celebrity News Network) and they too were talking about Palin this evening.

It's called an analogy.

It's when you compare one item to another and look at their similarities. The ability to do this is part of most IQ tests and people that can't usually score pretty badly.

Plenty don't find your analogy fitting, Paul. Many find it sour grapes along with of "Clinton got a blow job" being sour grapes.

palin is the left's bogeyman. It's almost like, "Palin" is leftyspeak for "all that is unacceptable."

Unfortunately, while the left considers Palin a laughingstock, people like me consider the use of Palin to be worthwhile of pointing and laughing.

But it's a really shitty analogy, the kind that scores you a 450 on the Verbal section.

Palin joined a hopeless campaign that couldn't have one with Jesus on the ticket. McCain hopes he could somehow score some Clinton supporters with a female veep, it didn't work. But by no means did she blow the election for him or her party. It was lost before it even started.

If you wanted a proper analogy, it was Gore in 2000. Coakley came in as the candidate for the incumbent party in a blue as it ever gets state, replacing a long long long tenured Kennedy. Barbara Boxer never it had it that easy (and perhaps for the first time, she'll face a viable candidate). Losing by 7 points is a landslide. How bad could things get if the GOP starts to stand for something again, rather than merely being "anything but?"

This defeat beats out USC getting trashed by Stanfurd in LA a couple months ago. Palin losing is like Stanfurd losing to Cal for the 7th time in 8 years.

7 points? What kind of voodoo math are you doing?

While some people call a 5 point victory a landslide, most don't.

Out of that entire post, this is the part you took away? You really are sour.

Maybe those 150,000 deceased registered voters forgot to vote...

ACORN must have forgot to wake them out of their graves like they did in the presidential election. :D

Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!
